I think hes an overrated person. I dont think hes going to make it. And why the press has always wanted more from Hillary Clinton. I do feel like ive always been a fairly private person leading a public life. Charlie pierce on press conferencegate, when all in starts right now. Good evening from new york. Im chris hayes. For much of this president ial campaign, donald trump has failed to stay on message. The candidate regularly undermining his campaigns best efforts with offhand comments that have generated a seemingly endless string of controversies. But for the past few weeks, trump has managed to steer clear of any truly disastrous gaffes. There have also been no new fights with the parents of a deceased soldier, no insults of reporters or a federal judge because of his heritage. Thats due in no small part due to his embrace of a device he once slammed as a sign of a candidates weakness. I dont believe in teleprompters. Although its very easy. Would i like to stand and read a speech for half an hour, and just leave. But you know what happens . You wouldnt have soldout crowds like we have. I dont use teleprompters. You know what i use . I watch hillary the other day. She has the biggest teleprompters ive ever seen. Ive always said, if you run for president , you shouldnt be allowed to use teleprompters. You shouldnt be allowed. Because you dont even know the guys smart. Hes reading. Ladies and gentlemen, thank you very much. This is wonderful, speed that teleprompter up, baba baba. I joke, but you shouldnt be allowed to use teleprompters. That was then and this is now. Turns out trump likes his teleprompters these days. Hes been using them almost full time in recent weeks, and not just for speeches, but even his rallies. Gone are the days of the freewheeling unpredictable Trump Campaign event. Now hes just reading to everybody. Trump uses it far more than the average candidate. And his most ardent defenders think its a good idea. Sean hannity who has repeatedly attacked president obama for using a teleprompter, thinks its absolutely fantastic when trump uses one. He gave two speeches. This is what i think is the secret sauce. He only talked about hillary and obama, he was on prompter. I like him on prompter myself. My only personal preference. But he stayed on a very powerful donald trump message, it was totally him. And he made very powerful points, but he outlined the failures and offered solutions. But if the prompter keeps trump from going off the rails, then trouble ahead in the biggest events left in the campaign. The president ial debates in four weeks, and no teleprompter is allowed. Hillary clinton has been preparing, holding mock debate sessions and having advisers consult the ghost writer of trumps book, the art of the deal, for insights about his insecurities. She said shes not taking anything, anyone, or any place for granted. Trump appears to be taking his preparations far less seriously. Hes largely ignoring briefing books in favor of sessions with roger ailes, chris christie. Kellyanne conway expressed confidence this afternoon. Were excited to get out on the debate stage, mainly because well be able to show up with a candidate whos already been talking about policies. I think people who actually want to know what Hillary Clinton thinks about all these issues have to tune in to those debates to watch. I think thats a shame, people have to wait until september 26th here in new york to listen to what Hillary Clinton believes. Unless you want to go to her website and click, what she believes on different policies. Trump points to his success, saying, quote, i know who i am, and it got me here. A president ial debate is the ultimate offprompter event and please enjoy what that looked like in the primaries. I dont often agree with marco, and i dont often agree with ted, but i can in this case. The weakest person on this stage by far on illegal immigration is jeb bush. They come out of an act of love. Whether you like it or not. So this is the standard operating procedure, to disparage me thats fine, i dont really care. Spend a little more money on the commercials. Ive laid out my plans you said about language. Two days ago, he said he would take his pants off and moon everybody and thats fine, nobody reports that. He gets up and says that, and then he tells me, oh, my language was a little bit rough. You said on september 30th that isis was not a factor. Am i talking, or are you talking . Im talking right now. You can go back. You interrupted me. Have you apologized yet . No. Am i allowed to finish . I never attacked him on his look. And believe me, theres plenty of subject matter right there. That i can tell you. Because youre really getting beaten badly. I know youre embarrassed, i know youre embarrassinged, but keep fighting, swing for the fences. I watched him repeat himself five weeks ago. I watched you repeat yourself five seconds ago. And i watched this meltdown on the stage like ive never seen anybody. I thought he came out of a swimming pool. Dont worry about it, little marco. Youre the liar, youre the lying guy up here. Ive given my answer, lying ted. First of all, this guys a choke artist and this guys a liar. Let me talk. Quiet. A lot of times i won the lottery when i was born 63 years ago and i looked up and saw my mom. Shes the strongest woman i know. Its not about my family or his family. I know its hard but its not what you said. Breathe, breathe. Lying ted. Thats a matter of principle you are the single biggest liar, you probably are worse than jeb bush. This little guy has lied so much about my record. This is a tough business to run for president. Youre a tough guy, jeb. Real tough. Youre never going to be president of the United States, by insulting your way to the presiden presidency. Im at 42 and youre at 3. Doesnt matter. And he referred to my hands, if theyre small, Something Else must be small. I guarantee you theres no problem. Molly ball and sam seeder are here. Heres what i find fascinating watching trump over the last two weeks, as he has been clearly more contained than at other periods. Its watching someone walk very slowly and clumsily up a very obvious learning curve and realizing there are people do things a certain way. So all of the disparagement of the teleprompter is now by the boards, because he has learned if you speak off the top of your head, you get into trouble. And im curious to see if that lesson is imparted to him before he gets to the debates. Well, i dont think we with can say for sure that that lesson has been fully learned and internalized. I think theres still a chance that trump gets bored of the teleprompters, or get stir crazy at the fact that hes not getting let out of his box these days and decides to go for it again at one of these rallies. I think you may be giving him too much credit for impulse control. And all that we know, you know, from my reporting, from others reporting about the way hes preparing for the debates, is not by having said to his advisers, okay, you win, time to do the conventional candidate thing, give me the binders and the briefing books and the mock debates. He Still Believes that spontaneity is his asset and that by getting up there and hogging the stage, the way he did in the primaries, i knew which clip you were going to end that trump gag reel with, there was no question where there was going do end up. But that still seems to be his strategy in a lot of respects and i think the Clinton Campaign is right to say, hes relatively unpredictable because of that. Tip of the cap to brendan who put that together, as fine an editor as they come in this business. Mollys point here, weve noticed this before. Theres a kind of the restraint, weve seen him give a teleprompter speech and then he cant help it because he needs to act out afterwards. You wonder if building up this selfrestraint for four weeks is going to mean hes really unleashed in the debate. I dont think well see the same trump that we saw during the republican debates. You dont . I think well see part of that. I think hell go very hard at Hillary Clinton with things we wouldnt imagine another candidate to say. Do you think well see the insul insults, the crooked hillary to her face kind of thing . We may see crooked hillary, but i think there will be a lot of, nobody trusts you, talking about the clinton global initiative, talking about maybe even the women that bill clinton was involved with. I think well see that type of stuff. Really, in my mind, it comes down to the moderators. Like what kind of debate is it . Is it one where they start asking policy questions, because hes going to avoid that, and thats going to be telling. Or is it going to be one about the horse race and what public polling suggests . Thats a big issue. Thats a great point. We know the negotiations are ongoing. You can imagine how hard a bargain the trump camp is driving on those, and maybe both camps for all we know. Tip my caps to all the moderators across every network and every venue, tried to keep these people in line. The reason those clips sound the way they do, theyre running rough shot over the moderators. Those clips are the moments in which theyre off the reins. Thats another thing that will be interesting to see. Im on record for a debate with no moderators, where the candidates just yell at each other for an hour and a half. But sam makes a great point. The degree to which this gets brought down to specifics is going to matter a lot. Obviously hillary is preparing the way a traditional candidate does, by memorizing every point of her policy plan on every single issue. We saw her in the primary debates being relatively deft at bringing up the specifics and pinning down her opponents, but can trump do the overflowing volcano i think where he makes that look wimpy and lame by just being fun and surprising. Do you remember the very first republican primary debate last august . There was all this hype that he was going to try to be subdued to show a different side of trump, and he did the opposite. The very first question, would you vow to run as a republican, he raised his hand and everybody went, oh my god so i think trump is going to be trump. Youre shaking your head. Yeah, i think that if clinton is smart about this, she segues. Every time he attacks, she didnt get engaged in that, she simply pulls it off. He gave her the key, which was, when he said the whole thing about they founded isis, that he was just being sarcastic. She could literally just say on every attack, we know youre just being sarcastic here, but now i want to talk about policy here, because this is serious stuff. It is really going to be a function of her ability not to get engaged with what hes doing and also the tone set by the moderators. Theyre negotiating heavily as to who it will be. But i dont know who i would want if i was trump. On some level, i would want maybe someone to blame . Someone to blame. I wouldnt want megyn kelly there, or anyone from fox news. Because to a larger extent, those people also have something to prove. Thats interesting. And its different than a socalled centrist. To clintons preparation, this has been lost to the sands of time, but that benghazi testimony, which was billed at the time as the closest version we had to a debate. Some people talked about her wanting to do press conferences, it was 11 hours, or whatever it was of questions, under oath in front of congress. She acquitted herself quite well there. And partly because she didnt lose her cool. That was the secret sauce in that undertaking. Yeah, i think its hard to rattle Hillary Clinton and that is her strength. Her weakness, i think, is coming across as just another conventional scripted politician. Thats a line that trump uses against her a lot. I dont think we can underestimate the appeal of his spontaneity. His seeming like a different kind of candidate. But, yeah, of course, hillary did a very good job in the primary debates, as she did in those hearings, of having an answer to every question. Sometimes it was too cute by half. Like when she said she want supported wall street was because of 9 11 and people sort of went, huh . But shes not going to have an answer to any question. Im looking forward to insults about her height, as per his insults on marco rubio. Personal insults are going to go over much differently in this context. Its the general election, not the republican primary. Thank you both. We have some breaking news. Associated press is reporting marco rubio has won the Republican Senate primary in florida. What a long, strange trip its been. His challenger will be Patrick Murphy. Well speak about those races and other downballot contests tonight ahead. And were gonna institute nationwide everify, stop Illegal Immigrants from accessing welfare and entitlements and develop an exitentry. You know what that is exitentry system to ensure those who overstay their visas, that theyre quickly removed. Donald trump has promised to clarify his position on immigration in a twice postponed big policy speech in arizona tomorrow. So far hes promised to build a wall, while ejecting millions of undocumented workers. Even though his Business Record tells a different story. He hired Foreign Workers at his maralago estate in florida, claiming he couldnt find any americans to do the job. And now on the eve of trumps big immigration speech, another stunning revelation, this time involving Trump Model Management, founded in 1999 by donald trump. The Company Bills itself as one of new york citys top modeling agencies. Now in a new bombshell expose, three former models, none of whom was a u. S. Citizen at the time claim to have worked illegally on tourist visas for the republican nominees modeling agency. And they claim the company knew all about it. As mother jones reports, two of the former models said the company encouraged them to deceive Customs Officials about why they were visiting the United States and told them to lie on customs forms about where they intended to live. Trumps representative told the models, quote, if they ask you any questions, youre just here for meetings. Meanwhile, some models say they barely made any money because of the high fee for rent and expenses that were charged. According to the company, they housed the women in a threebedroom apartment that at times could be occupied by 11 or more people. The model said the apartment was like a sweat shot. They were charged exorbitant rent compared to spaces at the time in the same neighborhood. Models also said trump sponsored only its most successful models for work visas. Those who didnt cut it were sent home. These kinds of violations of immigration rules have been common in the fashion industry for a long time. We reached out to the Trump Campaign for comment on this specific story and did not hear back. We also reached out to Trump Model Management and they did not respond. Joining me now, the author of that report, james west, and sarah jones, who fights for Worker Rights in the modeling industry. James, let me start with you. Great piece of reporting. Where do these women come from, how old are they and what ends up happening . This is from every corner of the world. Eastern europe, europe, britain, canada. Everywhere. Some as young as 14, Trump Model Management advertising on their website that thats the minimum age limit. They come here, sometimes on tourist visas and you cannot work in the United States on a tourist visa. That we know. Yeah, i just want to be clear here. You have women on the record, named on the record saying, i went there on a tourist visa and i worked. Its a violation of immigration law. On its face. So as you mentioned, two of these former models at Trump Model Management told me they were encouraged, instructed, send your portfolio ahead of time, so they dont find them. Right. Address down, use a different address so we dont know where you are in new york city when you arrive. I have to remind everyone, the core of this debate is about breaking the law. They broke the law. They broke the law, they broke the law. Sarah, this story reads like a dee kensian, share cropper model. They have a debt to their employer, theyre paying the expenses and the employer is skimming off what theyre making, but this is completely common place in the industry. Thats exactly right. Its a superficial industry, but the problems run really deep and i think james report captures that well. Many of these girls are working in debt to their agencies. When you think that donald trump has been making between 1 and 5 million a year, you know, off this agency where you have girls who are, you know, often young people who english might not be their first language, and theyre hoping to make it big, but very few people become the next gisele or kate moss. Theyre also entirely powerless. If youre a 16yearold who is here on a visa for which youve lied and paying rent to your employer, to whom you owe money. Who are you going to run and tell if theyre exploiting you . Right. Somebody said, i was a sitting duck in the u. S. , lived in constant fear of getting discovered by federal authorities for doing this, and all the time being charged up to 1,6 1,600 a month for a bunk be with five other girls in one room, and i use the word girls, because these are young women, teenagers. The air conditioning is broken. Somebody urinates through the window onto one of the beds. I think people have, as you said, superficial understanding of this industry, but these are the reallife Labor Conditions that operate under Trump Model Management. And you made the point that in the piece that this has been profitable for donald trump, he has made money off this. Right. This isnt just any old company for donald trump. He owns an 85 stake in this. Its not like a thing where he licenses his name. He owns this company and runs it to this day. As far as were aware. According to the recent filings that we have, thats certainly the case. And hes known for surrounding himself with beautiful models at gala events, the launches of his brand name, signature businesses, theyre always there. In fact, rachel blaze, who is on the record with us, she appeared on the apprentice, Donald Trumps own hit reality tv show, she says, as an undocumented worker. Now, this structure of exploitation, where does the money go, and what ends up happening . Im speaking more broadly now, because its one example of practices that are throughout the industry. What happens to people . Thats a good question. I think, if you look at the way that the industry is structured, that Trump Model Management, like all of these agencies, in new york, are actually acting as unlicensed employment agencies. Talent agencies have to abide by certain regulations, child labor laws and they have to be financially transparent and act in the best interest of their talent. Modeling agencies have been circumventing that by saying that they are not primarily booking models for jobs, theyre not employment agencies or talent agencies which is a category of employment. Fascinating. They are management companies, theyre advising the models on their appearance or how to walk down the runway, but the theyre like consultants as opposed to bosses or agents . Right. Well, in reality, you cannot get work as a legitimate fashion model without booking jobs through your agency. Right. And weve seen these contracts, chris. These are exclusive contracts that operate, yeah, exclusively, these models cant work for any other agency while theyre here in the u. S. And how much are they making . I mean very little. Sara can maybe help paint a picture. A couple hundred bucks a shoot. 20 of that goes to the agency and then you look down the list of the financial documents that we have in the piece at mother jones and you see sometimes mysterious fees. In the case of alexia palmer, 4,000 for an straightive fee. Just yoinked out of the paycheck . No one knows what thats for. It really sounds more like indentured servitude or trafficking. I have to say. Its not that or not quite that, but it bears like a close resemblance to it. People should check out this story. Its one of the biggest bombshells of the campaign so far. Thank you both. Still to come, the obsession with Hillary Clintons lack of press conferences and the attack that shes hiding from the press. Well talk about that ahead. She has such disrespect for you and your colleagues in the media, she wont even have a press conference. 207 day, you could have had a baby by now, and you ought to be having a canary over the fact that this woman just wont speak to the press. Right there, that quote, she wont speak to the press. Theyve been spending out regular reminders how many days it was since her last press conference, it was december 4th of last year. She did take questions earlier this month at a conference of journalists but only from a few selected reporters. Her press secretary noted she has answered no shortage of questions on every possible topic. Most of them have gone to National Television outlets, including a brief phone interview with yours truly. Joining me now, charlie pierce, who argued in a recent piece, press conferences dont matter anymore in a president ial election. Charlie, youre a longstanding member, in Good Standing of the press corps, like me. We have a professional disposition to want to see candidates answer questions from the press. I think she should do a press conference. Thats my feeling about this matter. The vast majority of the press is calling for one. Are they wrong . I dont think theyre wrong. I think theyre asking for a fairly useless exercise, and it certainly is notn exercise thats going to matter very much, i dont think to the country, which is trying to decide who to vote for president. I have i mean, i firmly believe the last news that was made at a press conference was when Richard Nixon got cross ways with dan rather. The formal press conference, which is basically what were talking about, the one person at a podium and a whole bunch of people spread out in front of them, its a tremendous Home Court Advantage for whoever the person is behind the podium. Because at the very best, people watching at home are going to think that the media is either trivial or being mean. So, no, i dont go ahead. So youre saying from a formal standpoint, you think oneonone interviews are actually better. I think theyre much better. Oneonone or two on one. I think the most rel va tore a candidate gave was donald trump to the times where we learned about what donald trump knows and doesnt know about the rest of the world. That doesnt happen at a press conference. You cited this event that i had not known about, in the first piece you wrote about this, about a press conference in 1994, when Hillary Clinton was the first lady. Called the pink suit press conference, in which she stood and took questions for 70 minutes on a variety of, at the time, pressing clinton scandals, heres a little clip from that. Is there a fundamental distrust of the clintons in america . Well, i hope not. I mean, that would be something that i would regret very much. I do think that we are transition figures, if you will. We dont fit easily into a lot of our preexisting categories. Let me speak just about myself. I think that having been independent, having made decisions, its a little difficult for us as a country maybe to make the transition of having a woman like many of the women in this room, sitting in this house. So i do think that there is some of that. Heres why i found that so fascinating. I think she should do press conferences because im a journalists and i want candidates to talk to us as much as possible. Come on the show for an hour or two hours, or however long she was like. But the one argument, she should do this so people trust her, so that the press stops making this is 20 years ago. Theres going to be the same questions and scripts about her no matter what. Youre exactly right. That press conference was set up to be what they called until they drop press conference. Where she would sit and answer questions until people didnt have any more questions. That was going to clear the decks. Didnt work well. Certainly didnt clear up what the press keeps relentlessly reminding us is her trust deficit. And its so fascinating to see that question in 1994. Because thats that question, theres a substantive question about what happens to the clinton donors or emails. And theres a question of why people dont trust you, you could bet dollars to donuts, there will be four of those out of, seven, if there is a press conference. Still to come, marco rubio refuses to commit to serving a full term in elected. More on that, plus tonights thing 1 and thing 2 is after this break. Hmmmmm. The turbocharged dream machine. Senator marco rubio has won the florida primary for his senate seat and will run against congressman Patrick Murphy in november, who defeated alan grayson in the democratic primary for that senate seat. Rubio decided to run for reelection, after making it clear he would not run for reelection. In fact, his journey has run a circular course. During his president ial run, the Washington Post reported that rubio hated his job in the senate. He hates it, a longtime friend said. Rubio denied hating it. I dont know hate is the right word. Im frustrated. He had one of the worst absentee records of all. His average improved after he dropped his president ial bid in march 2016. He later offered this explanation as to why he was missing so many senate votes. When i miss a vote or time in washington, its not because im on vacation. Its because im running for president. Im trying to get this country in the right direction. If my four and a half years, ive been deeply frustrated on the lack of progress on any issue. Im going to finish my term here and then ill be a private citizen. You spent a week back home. Im wondering if you changed your mind about running for reelection. Nothings changed. Except that im late. But theres no way youll be on the ballot . Nothings changed from the last time ive spoken to you about this. So after pressure from his Republican Senate colleagues who hope to retain that chamber in november elections, rubio relented. But he also put an antitrump spin on it. I feel compelled to not walk away from that opportunity. There was another choice available to us, that for my family would have been more comfortable and perhaps even more politically intelligent, but i just truly think that at this unique moment in our history, we need to have people in the senate that will stand up to the wrong ideas, no matter who wins. But this decision was based on my desire to return to d. C. And really make a difference in the senate as it is, not as i wish it were. Its a frustrating place to work sometimes, about but we need people who will act as a check and balance. Can you now commit to voters here in florida that you will serve your entire six years if youre elected . No one can make that commitment, because you dont know what the future is going to hold in your life personally or politically. I can commit that if im running to be a u. S. Senator, im fully prepared to allow the u. S. Senate to be the last Political Office i ever hold. Despite all that, his run for reelection puts the Republican Party in much better position of retaining the senate. Well take a look at the big picture when we come back. Everyone thought i was crazy to open a hotel here. Everyone said its so hard to be a musician, but i cant imagine doing anything else. Now that the train makes it easier to get here, the neighborhood is really changing. Im always hopping on the train, running all over portland. I have to go wherever the work is. Trains with innovative Siemens Technology help keep cities moving, so neighborhoods and businesses can prosper. I can book 3 or 4 gigs on a good weekend. Im booked solid for weeks. It takes ingenuity to make it in the big city. Mastery is a journey of icontinuous improvement. S. Come triumph, or trial, tennis legend Serena Williams moves forward, and with the chase mobile® app were on the same path, offering innovative, and convenient ways to bank. Easyto use chase technology, for whatever you are trying to master. There have been frequent common sense predictions that trump could be a drg on downballot republicans, increasing the Democrat Party of taking the senate. The reason the chances arent greater is that the state by state contests do diverge from preferences at the top of the ticket. Senator marco rubio leads challenger congressman Patrick Murphy by six points. Even though trump trails clinton in florida polling by nearly three points on average. Matt, the rubio story is, i dont know what the objective is. Its sort of sad, amusing in certain ways. Hes insistent and selfrighteous about anyone who said, are you going to change your mind, no, no. Ultima ultimately, they were like, were going to lose this seat if you dont come back and now here he is and hes poised to win. His situation changed. I think he thought he had a really good chance to be the nominee. Obviously the chris christie, rubio back and forth in that debate ended that, ended his chance to finish second in New Hampshire, which is what he expected, and put him in position to lose florida and he lost florida in that primary. He now has won his primary against a businessman, trumptype candidate who spent 8 million. He won it with north of 70 . His team was hoping to be over 60 . So that washes away that bad taste in his mouth of losing his own home state when he was running for president. Now gives him a chance to go back to the senate, to help try to ep coup the majority and keeps his future options open. Exactly. Keeps his options open president the democratic version of marco rubio and evan bye in dna, who gave his own kind of goodbye cruel world exit from the senate, about how broken the institution s then took his turn lobbying and now hes back because he was the best chance they had at retaining that seat. Its these narratives, only i can do this. In reality, it would be nice to to be a senator again. Candidates do matter. Democrats have not been as good at recruiting. But its not this like bursting vibrant class of young upandcomers that the gop had in past years. 2012. Yeah. They have had recruitment problems and right now, the two places strickland, who is the former governor of ohio, you would think would be strong. Hes won statewide, obviously. Hes fairly popular. But the two races that keep popping out to me, are ohio and florida. Because those look promising, very promising for democrats at the beginning of the cycle and they now look to me like by no means out of reach, but they are uphill battles if youre honestly reckoning with what the polling is saying. Matt . Yeah, i think thats right. You know, look, from the republican side, republicans took florida off the board, bringing rubio back in. Democrats put indiana in a good position with bye. This is going to come down to pennsylvania with pat toomey, down to New Hampshire with kelly ayotte. Looks like wisconsin and illinois are going to be lost for republicans unless things change considerably. This is going to be a oneseat thing either way. If the democrats win the white house, they have the tiebreaker, so that gives them a cushion. Matt, heres my question. Why would republicans so merrick garlands hanging out there, 300 days. Its unprecedented to not even get a hearing. The argument was an argument of popular will, that despite the fact that the president is duly elected and still serving his term, the people have to weigh in. Lets say democrats win the senate. Im sorry. Lets say democrats dont win the senate, republicans control it. Why would republicans confirm any Hillary Supreme Court nominee . They will. Theyre not going to keep the Supreme Court at a 44 split for four years. Why not . You can do it through one term. I dont understand the limiting condition. You cant have a 44 split for four years, that would be truly unprecedented. You can just hope that someone dies. I think that what is more likely to happen, hillary doesnt want a fight for the Supreme Court in her first hundred days. I think if she wins, theyll pass his nomination lithrough t lame duck. You think thats what theyre planning . I think thats the plan. No one would admit that now, but thats likely to happen to, try to clear the decks going into the first hundred days. Hillary doesnt want a fight over the Supreme Court. Shes wants immigration, minimum wage increase. Whatever else she wants to focus. Theres also the president ial map, despite the fact that polls have come back to the five or sixpoint range, state polling is still tough for donald trump. Two trips. Hes going to everett, washington tonight. Blue state. And possibly going to mexico tomorrow ahead of his big immigration speech. Going to be a very short speech. Hes going to ask the president of mexico to build the wall, pay for it. The president will say no. Hell come back. The trip will be over. Like what can i do . I tried. In the past, well see a candidate go to a state to try to fake out another candidate and get them to spend money. Washington is not in that model of a fakeout. Its been outside a win for republicans for years and years and years. Im not sure why he spent a precious president ial candidate day in that place. Hes in austin, texas, jackson, mississippi, with nigel farage, and now hes in everett, washington. What is the deal with this . I dont know. Look, i think Trumps Campaign manager, Kellyanne Conway has signalled she inherited a schedule, hasnt been able to take full control of that. I think after labor day, shell have full control over that, no more red state trips unless its fundraising, in and out. No more public rallies. The time is too precious. Were four weeks minus a day from the first debate. He should be doing debate prep with videotape, reviewing it, learning from it. Hes going to have to fill 30 or 35 minutes, not 10 or 12. And the stakes could not be higher. I wonder if they told him there were electoral votes in mexico to get him to fly down there tomorrow. Thank you both. That is all in for now. But good news, well be back at 11 00 p. M. Eastern tonight with a whole new show. So stick around. I probably wont be even wearing a tie. It will be very exciting. Good evening, rachel. Its going to be casual kriz hayes late night . Its a special doubleheader evening game version of your humble host. Have you been chaffing all this time, wanting to do your show without a tie, and this is just you . I like them both. Different sides of the same person. Wow. Im very excited. Thank you, my friend. See you later, without that. Thanks to you at home for staying with us for the next hour. Were watching a few ongoing stories tonight, including interests news about the president ial campaign that has just broken in the last few minutes. Well have the reporter who broke that story here with us, i think, live in just a moment. Although thats still being worked out. This is the scene tonight right now in everett, washington. A live shot of the xfinity arena in everett, washington, where donald trump is slated t
