painful because we have had several million troops serve in iraq and afghanistan. we have had 60,000 u.s. killed and wounded. a lot of them are invested in what they were prepared to sacrifice their life for. but, look, if you back off it, in the last year, the disaster of the growing control of the taliban over the rural countryside -- half of it, then two thirds of the country. then the cities, in large part, the afghan security forces were not defeated in battle. they went over to the other side. or they walked away from their uniforms, handed their gun to the taliban. these were negotiated outcomes at most of these district capitals. they had ten taliban taking the surrender of significant ana and police forces. so unfortunately, we had a better message from the taliban than the corrupt and incompetent
