are trapped or having difficulty. authorities at least know about all of them. the cajun navy and search and rescue teams are out there trying to get to those people. it's not like in new orleans where this was a surprise, nobody saw it coming, and people had to signal and flag down helicopters or boats to let them know that they're getting out. at least in the most populous part of this state in new orleans, that part hasn't happened. >> okay. ali velshi, good to see you. sam brock, thank you as well. i want to take a closer look in new orleans. joined now by a city councilman who represents the western edge of the city. joseph, thank you for joining us. what more can you tell us, councilman, about the situation in your district right now? >> ali hit the highlights. the numbers have gone up since this morning. we heard about 850,000 people in southeast louisiana without power. you all just reported it's over 1 million. that's a quarter of all of louisianans now who don't have power.
