Thrown it is up towards the Lehigh Valley, berks county where the snow totals are overachieving over 2 feet in many locations there. I want to show you philadelphia at the moment. Again well head back to the radar here and show you a closeup zoom of whats happening in the moment. Again you can see this line of heavy snow right about here moving across i95 at the moment, northern New Castle County in delaware, southern Delaware County pushing into camden and gloucester counties. This is some of the heaviest snow weve seen since overnight last night and its continuing to come down steadily through the next hour or two. So philadelphia into portions of camden county, moorestown, delran, cherry hill youre seeing some very steady snow at the moment. Lets take you to our sweep and well show you a few storm reports weve gotten. Well show you some of the information down the shore. Wind gust reports really if youre looking at dewey beach delaware this morning 7 35 they reported a wind gust to 75 Miles Per Hour. Further north we had wind gusts over 60 Miles Per Hour in ocean city, new jersey at 6 23 this morning, 8 00 a. M. Pleasantville recorded a 60 Miles Per Hour wind gust and at the Atlantic City International Airport 58 Miles Per Hour at 6 20 this morning, North Beach Haven at 60 miles an hour as well. Notice these reports from mainly this morning. 6 49 in bayville. Good luck. 72 Miles Per Hour wind gusts there. Take a look at some of your snow totals. 23inchs in maple glen, 20 in graterford. 15 in wynnewood and 14 and a half in exton still waiting for updated totals from the airport also from the allentown bethlehem easton airport, the Lehigh Valley International Airport. I think those numbers will possibly put it at the top snowfall of all time after the band that came through this afternoon. Well bring you numbers from new jersey and delaware. For now i want to get a check on Current Conditions outside. Ill send it out to lauren casey. Reporter we picked up quite a bit of snowfall in the last couple hours we tacked onto our tell. Up to almost 18inches on the cbs3 sky death of we started at just 16inches a couple hours ago. We had this heavier brand of precipitation moving through warm front added about two more inches of snowfall and with the heavier intensity snowfall visibilitys are greatly reduced down to about. 3 miles in philadelphia, down to near zero visibility in allentown. Mount pocono youre doing good, clear visibility but down in trenton about a half mile visibility right now as were we contend with this convective band of snowfall. Also feeling chilly so the snow coming down, the winds ramped and it feels like 13 degrees right now in philadelphia. 13 in allentown. Feeling like Single Digits in the poconos and feeling like upper teens down the shore. So what to expect for tomorrow morning . Well, the snow will no longer be falling. Hard to believe. Yes, its almost like the twilight zone. The snow just keeps coming and coming but it will end as we head a little bit closer to midnight. Well deal with blowing and drifting snow tomorrow so its still going to be very difficult to travel. Snow on the roads, blowing snow especially the top layer now that its getting colder its a little bit fluffier so that be easier to pick up and shift around especially if we still have wind gusts overnight tonight upwards of 30, for the Miles Per Hour and through the day tomorrow still could see wind gusts upwards of 20 to 30 Miles Per Hour so travel conditions are not going to improve greatly guys tomorrow. It will be a little bit better and we might actually see some sunshine as we head into our sunday but, yeah, snow continuing to come down right now on the cbs3 sky deck and were still countering up the tally on my old ruler. New jersey is taking a onetwo punch from the major winter storm not only battling the snow. Major flooding is an issue. Sea isle city seeing a lot of damage. Another high tide is less than two hours a way. David spunt is live in Sea Isle City. David, what is the latest there . Reporter hey, jess today. The sno jessica. I want to show you this debris right here. Were on a side street in Sea Isle City. The reason this debris is here is because of the high waters from the high tide. That high tide tonight, well, it hits about 7 45. Thats what officials are most concerned about here in Sea Isle City. It may be a little tough to see just because its dark right now but there is some water that is continuing to rise and its going to continue to rise as that tide continues to go up. Also i have to mention there is high tide tomorrow morning at 8 oclock in the morning so that is another concern for folks there. Its really just the debris, the water and of course the wind that has just been relentless all day long. There was actually a fire down the street at a local coffee shop a popular summer hang out. Good news nobody was inside, nobody was hurt but Severe Damage there. Im set up to interview the mayor of Sea Isle City a little bit later tonight to get an update but no major Power Outages no, serious injuries just heavy wind and possible water a little bit later. Reporting live in Sea Isle City, david spunt, cbs3 Eyewitness News. David thank you for. That. So many shore towns hit hard not only are these some favorite vacation places there are many year round residents who live there who are left to deal with all the damage. Eyewitness News Reporter greg argos is live in stone harbor with more on the dangerous conditions there. Greg. Reporter extremely dangerous conditions there ukee and jessica. Theres not much snow accumulation here because of the warmer ocean temperatures. What you have is the whipping wind and beach erosion. Take a look right here. This is stone harbor down here down the shore in southern jersey z this right here is the beach and the beach erosion. In fact you can see the waves right now actually receding just a little bit but just few seconds ago these waves were coming in here. David spunt just mentioned a few minutes ago that we have a 7 45 high tide. That will create major problems for this area. Not only do we have the wind coming in but also the water and that could create major Flooding Issues here for stone harbor. In fact were told by Atlantic City electric they have some 40,000 customers without power. In fact, behind me it looks very dark and thats because this is one of the sections that is completely without power. All of these homes completely dark right now. The only light is coming from our satellite truck. You might see those blinking lights there in the distance. That is it. 40,000 people without power right now and because of these sustained winds 30, 40 Miles Per Hour with gusts as you can see them right now possibly 50 Miles Per Hour or greater, that is creating pretty terrible conditions for the men and women working on the power lines that are down here in this area. In fact i want to show you a little bit about this beach erosion and youll see this right here is the beach. There is none of it right now left and that is because high tide is coming in. This storm just pushing the water with these sustained winds creating a dangerous condition for anyone who lives in this area because of the potential for flooding. There was flooding earlier with the high tide and now were going to possibly see flooding here as the water comes up a little bit with high tide coming around 7 45 tonight. Fortunately, though, there is a shelter that is opened at 82nd steed the Recreation Center where folks in this area can go because the power is out once again, Atlantic City electric working to restore it but it could be some time. For now though were live here down the shore, im greg argos, cbs3 Eyewitness News. Cold miserable night for that power to go out. Greg thank you. Brigantine Atlantic County was also hit hard by this storm. This video was sent in to us from shane yost. You can see some of the dangerous conditions there. Look how icy that water s police are warning coastal residents to prepare for two additional rounds of tidal flooding. Warnings continue through tomorrow mornings high tide. New jersey residents are no stranger to this type of situation but that does not make it easier. Joining us on the phone is governor Chris Christie. Governor, good evening. Good evening. What can you tell us about the state of the state of new jersey right now when it comes to our winter storm. Well, weve been out on the road all day today. I left early this morning from my home in Morris County and ive been all over the state today to both North Central and through the jersey shore and heres where we are right now. For those of you in the southern part of the state in your viewing area, the worst of the storm is over. For those of you in the deep jersey shore we have one more high tide to go through in about an hour. We dont believe theres going to be significant flooding along the jersey shore but weve got to be keep a close eye on the back bay areas. We have had some good flooding in avalon and stone harbor and Sea Isle City. If, in fact you lose power in those places, we want you to get to someplace where you can shelter warmly whether its at a friend and familys home or if not there are in every county there are shelters available where you can get something to eat and be warmed for the evening. And you can always call local Law Enforcement. Theyll be able to help get you where you need to get to. The northern part of the state will see significant snowfall for the rest of the evening. For instance where i am in Morris County where i just arrived home youve got about 18inches of snow on the ground and the snow is still coming down. Governor, we talked to their mayor of Sea Isle City a little earlier and he told us that in his opinion this was a worse situation than sandy for them. Do you see it that way at all for some of these communities . Well, from a water perspective for Sea Isle City, avalon, stone harbor they got very little water during sandy and so theres no doubt in my mind that there is more water there right now than there was during sandy. But we got to remember that Sea Isle City did very well during sandy, much better than any other part of the jersey shore and what were not seeing is the destruction that you saw during sandy in many parts of the jersey shore. So, for those folks down there they have to go through one more high tide cycle tonight. We have reached out and have been speaking to the mayors and made sure they thunder everything they need we have available to them but right now we think things are going as well as could be expected and the storm really has left that area of the state for the most part. Governor i saw where you retweeted pse g when it comes to losing power. Would should residents do . Call them . Call the police . What is your suggestion. Lose power call your Utility Company immediately and let them know exactly what is going on. Because that puts you in cue to have your power restored. And if you lose power, we want you to try to go someplace where you can shelter with friends or family as your first option or if not, call local Law Enforcement after youve called in your utility outtaoutage and they can get yoo a shelter where you will be warm and fed for the evening. Heres the important thing. We do not want you out on the roads driving unless its absolutely necessary. For instance if you lost your power and you can drive to a friend or family, go ahead done that because we dont want you cold in your home but otherwise stay off the roads. Governor christie you were on the campaign trail, you came back home to new jersey to deal with this storm. What prompted you to make that decision kind of at the last minute and what have you been able to do by being home . We always make those decisions at the last minute because with all due respect to the weather folks they dont always get it right. We decide we were monitoring this for wednesday, we have been preparing or roads since wednesday and then through thursday. What i said on thursday was i would monitor it and if i felt like it was going to be a significant snow event of course i would be home to manage it. What we found out friday morning about 11 oclock we were convinced this was going to be a very significant event for new jersey so i left early friday afternoon, drove from New Hampshire down to new jersey, got down here before the first flake of snow hit the ground and, you know, weve gone from there managing things and being on the ground so i could see it myself and to deploy resources in there way we saw fit. All right, governor Chris Christie thank you so much for being with us tonight. Thank you, governor. Thank you very much for having me and for all your folks who are watching out there please stay inside tonight. Tomorrow is going to be a good weather day and things will be a lot better tomorrow. All right indeed. Governor thank you so much. All right, so governor Chris Christie on the phone there advising everyone to stay inside tonight hoping for a better day tomorrow and of course he says hes keeping his eye on the flooding thats happening in Sea Isle City, stone harbor where theyve lost power. Greg argos telling us and good advice there if you have somebody to check on, check on them make sure theyre somewhere warm because temperatures are going to be very, very cold tonight. Theyre going down. You dont went to rough that out. The governor did talk about power loss. The number four pse g 18436 pse g. In the city here in philadelphia its the snow and lots of it. Some have been leaving the warmth of home to get outside and experience this unforgettable storm. Our Natasha Brown is live at broad and walnut tonight and natasha, youve been there for awhile. Youve seen all kinds of people coming by and saying hello. Reporter i know everybody seems to be in such good spirits and we are so happy to report that in light of this massive storm that were experiencing here in Center City Philadelphia. Lets take a look at broad street here. Its been very clear for the most part. Weve seen a number of snowplows coming through just throughout the course of this evening but again, snow is continuing to accumulate, its just lightning up for the moment. Take a look at these magazine and newspaper boxes just to give you some idea as to how much snow has fallen just since we have been out here for the last few hours or so. So, no fishtail, im so sorry i forgot my ruler. Dont kill me you guys back there. But anyway well get the official tally from kate bilo. Just overall lots of pedestrian traffic here in center city today at broad and walnut. Nobody seemed to be fearing venturing out in this snow. We did talk to a couple of folks a short time ago and theyre ready to party believe it or not. Lets listen in we talked to a couple girls earlier that were enjoying this saturday. That were like theyre not going to be cooped up inside. They just wanted to chat with us about why you shouldnt be fearing the snow, why you should come out and have a good time. Lets listen in. Its actually not so bad. No, its terrible. Theres like 3 feet of snow. Youre literally like climbing over it. Yeah, its beautiful. We were playing with the dogs. Were going meet some friends and get some drinks and stuff. Reporter there really is a very serene night pretty much here in center city. Lots of folks still out and about bopping around meeting friends, just trying to make the most of this snowstorm for the most part. And many of them are walking by asking us when is it going to stop. They need to tune into our station and theyll know exactly when it will stop. For now it doesnt matter because theyre not letting the snow slow them down. Thats the latest Natasha Brown cbs3. Snow coverage with no yard stick, natasha, im shocked, shocked. I know. Reporter im losing it, i swear. Thanks natasha. Great video from the art museum. You can see these people having a really good time out there today. These are our friends nicole and robert. Theyre reminding you to send your photos to cbs3 snow. You can use Twitter Facebook instagram. Weve been showing out those photos all day. That takes skill there. One arm. Very nice. All the way down. We also found plow Truck Drivers pushing around the snow in king of prussia montgomery county. They have been hard at work all day clearing the parking lot there at wegmans. The Grocery Store is opened but employees tells it hasnt been that busy. I think a lot of people did the rush yesterday. Right. Looks like people are heeding the warning and just hanging out at home or undoors today. Thats good indeed. The had of snow continues to fall across the region. Our Team Coverage continues with more from the suburbs. Eyewitness News Reporter walt hunter has been braving the conditions in Chester County all afternoon. Walt, how is it looking now. Reporter ukee and jess the snow continuing to fall heavily. I know natasha didnt need a yard stick. Heres how i measured the snow right here. Im at the top of the snow pile and the top of the snow pile is approaching the top of the trees. Thats never a good thing. Weve probably got better than 2 feet of snow right here in malvern Chester County along route 202 at route 29. The only folks at the wawa right now other than the brave employees are people out plowing the snow and working in it. We talked to them earlier. Heres a little bit of what they had to say. Stay in your house is all i can say. Stay in your house. Let the professionals do what we do. Its been a little while. I think we calculated about 30inches on our campus right now but the team is working hard so its a adventure but were up for it. Crazy. Unbelievable. I probably will be out till sunday night. Its a mess out here. Its the worst storm ive ever seen. Reporter and fortunately we dont have any reports of downed wires or falling trees, thats the good news. We did have one report of a partial Building Collapse in Chester County. Could be an indication of just how heavy this snow is and finally in terms of helping out with the snow were right here at our news van. We were actually buried by a drift. We werent sure how we were going to get out or get home. A Good Samaritan plow man came by and guess what, at some point well be getting out of this storm. What was that have all the updates for you from Chester County. For now live in malvern, im walt hunter cbs3 Eyewitness News. We got to get you home walt at some point. My gosh. At some point we will be getting out of it. How does it look kate bilo. Eventually its got to end. I think its going to snow for at least several more hours not as heavily as it has been today but well amend our totals a little bit maybe another inch or two across the area before this final gets out of here. By midnight the worst of it is off the coast and we are just talking about cleanup mode and cold front going to be snow blowing shoveling the whole 9 yards as we head through the day tomorrow. Well take you out to the storm. Our eye remains on Center City Philadelphia which is clearing out a little bit now. We had one burst of very heavy snow go through about a half hour to an hour ago. Now as you can see the visibilities have improved on our roof cam looking live at center city. Not looking as bad. Snow rates have lightened up as some of the heavier snow has moved into portions of new jersey. Our Spring Garden camera shows the intersection of broad and Spring Garden streets and everything is snow covered as far as the eye can z broad street completely at a stand stilt right now Spring Garden again completely snow covered as well so a lot of folks has been trying get out now that the heaviest has lightened up but definitely still want to stay inside if you can. Dont try to venture out tonight because things are still pretty bad and we could have more steady snow even though the heaviest looks like it has moved through philadelphia. Take a live look at storm scan3. Theres that heavy band that has pushed into south jersey but notice the precip shield on the back edge its still snowing down into d. C. , all the way down toward Norfolk Virginia and even into North Carolina at the moment even as boston starts to get in on some of the action. Lets zoom in on philadelphia. The heaviest band right about here so if crore in gloucester or camden counties right now into portions of salem and into New Castle County delaware youre seeing some pretty heavy snow lining up pretty nicely right along 295. Some pretty heavy snow at the moment. Still steady snow in portions of bucks county, montgomery counties as well just the heaviest has started to shift a little bit further to the east. By 10 oclock theres that back edge moving through philadelphia and finally by about midnight we start to see it move off the coast and skies there clear. I think we see sun break through the clouds tomorrow. With the blowing snow and the falling snow visibility right now in allentown is a big fat zero. Its a half inch half mile i should say in wilmington and trenton. Half inch would be a little bit worse than that. Mile in philadelphia. 8 in the Atlantic City airport region and. 8 in lancaster right now. Mount pocono cleared out completely. 10mile visibility so things are ending. Its just a slow process. On the roads tonight snow covered blowing and drifting will continue and here are a couple of our amounts. Over 20inches in most spots in our philadelphia list. New jersey we have 19inches in pitman, 17 in mount holly. Coastal Flood Warning continues. We enter another high tide cycle as we go into the 7 oclock hour so well bring you updates on that as 43 our reporters down in the field. Blowing and drifting snow continues through your sunday morning. Again were talking about temperatures dropping into the mid20s overnight. Tomorrows high only 33 with that fresh snow pack. The sevenday forecast though does look a lot better. There is a threat for something by the and of next week. I think its warming up but it may be just rain or a total miss. I think its too soon to be talking about more wet stuff. Thanks, kate. Appreciate i it.
