As you can see behind me there are trucks coming through, a lot of the teams are showing up with their bikes on the rooftops of cars, you can see all of the organizers gathering, the announcers gathering, security is very tight here, police all around and im here with gisele jones, deputy managing director for the city of philadelphia come on in here. Reporter city has been working all day to prepare for this monstrous race that takes up a large part of the city. What have you been doing and where will this race be as far as the city of philadelphia. The race actually, infamous wall which you are wind behind here it runs up the entire course and the mens team, there are 18, and 18 womens team they do 73 miles. Their conclusion is at the top of the wall. So it is really exciting but city convenes these operating meetings all year long. We make sure pun safety number one is our main concern. We have patch streets so the bikes just dont hit potholes and all that good stuff. It is a huge effort for the city, too coordinate these departments to make sure that the participant, number one, are safe, all 90,000 of them and all of the racers. So, there is several hundred racers and it is just really exciting. The Community Comes out, all of the Development Corporations participate. It is just exciting. A sad update to a fire rescue we told but last week, a a fiveyear old girl has died from her injuries after a house fire in northeast philadelphia. Sophia olson and her mother were critically injured in the fire that started before 5 30 thursday inside their home on hereford lane. Sophia was trapped, and her mother could not get to her. A neighbor who happened to be a Police Officer was injured trying to help. He was released from the hospital yesterday, mother remains in stable condition. Well, there will be a public funeral for me mow on on muhammad ali on friday, and it will be a celebration of his life. Boxing legend of course died friday night at the age of 74. Yes, there is a lot of activity, you can feel the excitement building, the count down is on, the mens race kicks off at 8 00 oclock and as you can see the start and finish lines, just a few hundred feet away. You have the car lined up, cyclist getting in place, we have spectators, getting their seat together and, of course, all this production, comes after months and months of planning and Alice Armstrong is the race event director who has been working on this. This race, literally draws people from all over the world, why . And who is here . So we have cyclist from 36 countries, they are represented here, in a Huge International event. Now we have uci world course for womens race which put us on the international caldor for cycling and. Reporter there is a lot of different types of people here, working on the race and we have a lot of volunteers here and why. We have over 300 volunteers, over a hundred staff that work on this race and many of them have been coming back year after year after year and it is a huge family, great event. We all work so well to bring this event out to the city every year. Reporter this racings, of course, through lemon hill, it goes all way around kelly drive and a lot going on.
