Two Philadelphia Police officers are hospitalized this morning, after they were involved in a serious car accident earlier this morning at frankford. Investigators say that the officers were injured after an accident in frankford avenue and sellers street around 3 00 a. M. There is no word on their condition, but the accident remains under investigation. Also new Fire Fighters rescued four people from a burning home in germantown. The flames broke out around 1 00 a a. M. On the first floor of the home on east colter street. When Fire Fighters arrived on the scene, several people were trapped on the home roof. One person was taken to the hospital, no word on their condition. Investigators are working to determine what sparked the flames. A fire rips through a dell will wear county home trapping several people inside, a neighbor was able to pull several children out of had burning home, but sadly their grandmother did not make it out alive. Reporter a boom hook the the neighborhood just after 7 30 at day morning as fire tore through this lower chichester home. A bunch of flames came out and we heard help, help. Reporter several people were trapped inside the home including children, a mother and two children were in the front yard frantic as their sibling, their father and their grandmother were inside. I seen this fire come out of the bottom steps coming up. Reporter nicholas wells lives next door and raised over to help. He heard those trapped inside and broke basement windows to get them out. The the children a safe, nicholas helped pull their father through the window. There was in place to really touch him. The burns on this man was great, skin was peeling off. Reporter burned while trying to save the childrens grandmother whose name was dorris, and he died in the fire. It is a tragedy. Reporter meanwhile neighbors immediately began collecting donations with bags of clothing piling up inside their homes. The the least they can do they say for a family and father who did their best to save those that they love. Definitely, definitely. Reporter investigators are trying to determine what caused this fire in the first place. Meanwhile the father and several of his children, remained in the hospital recovering. Neighbors come to the rescue of several people trapped in the burning home in delaware county, but sadly, everyone did not make it out a alive. Eyewitness News Reporter Syma Chowdhry is live in lower chichester with the very latest, syma, good morning. Reporter good morning, nicole, a family is in mourning, after a fatal fire rips through this home behind me. Inside were several children, their father, and their grandmother. Now we have cell phone video of what the the fire looked like, this happened, around 7 00 a. M. Saturday on the 100 block of fromfield avenue in lower chichester. Several people were trapped inside the home. A mother and two children were in the front yard at the time but inside was other children, father, and their grandmother. The childrens grandmother. A neighbor helped rescue children and father from a burning home but their grand moth der not make it out alive. We have talked to the man who sprang into action. I ran over, my bear socks, and tried to go to the top step and all we seen was fire coming out of the bottom steps coming out and i knew there was kids inside. I heard the father inside and basically me and him we broke out the the bottom windows and we helped drag the three kids and helped drag the father out of the house. Reporter the father and several of his children were taken to the hospital, and right now investigators are still, trying to determine what caused this fire. A fire fighter suffered minor injuries battling the flames which broke out in the row home in the 27 hundred block of westerly high avenue on saturday. The red cross is now assisting the six people who were displaced. Well, lieutenant joyce craig received full honors from the city, she died serving. Eye witt the necessary News Reporter Steve Paterson was a at somber services in West Oak Lane where hundreds gathered to pay their final respects to the first philadelphia female fire fighter, killed in the line of duty. Reporter full honors for a fallen hero, on this december sat the day morning, hundreds of people, family and friends, officials and dignitaries, Fire Fighters and First Responders from across the country, came to honor one. Eleven year philadelphia fire veterans 36 yearold joyce craig. When you lose one, it effects everyone because we are family. Reporter craig died doing what she believed in, battling a fire to save a life. She died a hero so it is a beautiful thing to have known joyce. Reporter she lost her life fighting flames in West Oak Lane early on tuesday morning, leaving behind two children and a legacy of care, diligence. She was like family. Reporter her Funeral Services like saturday a somber highlight real of praises for a woman described as gentle, nursing and tough as nails by people who knew her best. I was with joy the first time that she got hurt on the job, and i was with her the last time. Reporter out of respect for familys wishes we stayed outside and listen. Her brothers and sisters tears in their eyes watched their commissioner who calls what happened a personal failure in the quiet blessing. I walk around with this black bandon my wrist for the past seven years and you know what that this says, everyone goes home. Everyone does go home and i submit to you that joyce is home. Reporter a in the final moment of triumph mayor Michael Nutter gave the fire fighter what she lived to achieve and died to obtain. Joyce Michelle Craig is now posthumously promoted to the rank of lieutenant. It happened on the brooklyn bridge. Authorities say lieutenants were trying to arrest a man who was about to throw a a trash can into the street. That is when they say they were swarmed by a crowd that kicked them in the face and the head. Now during an Altercation Police say they came into procession of this bag contains new hammers and a black mask. It is unclear if they were used in a attack on the officers.
