He made mention to the victim there, that he had done this before he was under active probation supervision in virginia, yet, while supposedly being supervised, he allegedly, committed this kidnapping, as well, and as the attempted murder of the teenager in that state. He waved extradition to Charles City County virginia where he faces an attempted murder charge. Eyewitness News Reporter diana rocco is live in baltimore with breaking details there about how, breaking news about how officials arrested Delven Barnes, diana. It turns out federal authorities are looking into that brutal attack on the virginia teenager, when they got a gps hit on Delven Barnes car, here in maryland. It wasnt long before they made the connection to carlesha. Delven barnes was taken down by federal atf agents wednesday acting on a tip, they got a gps hit on the ford taurus he was driving in the Shopping Center in jessup maryland. We noticed he was moving in the car that indicated he would possibly be pulling out. There will be a plastic bag being placed over a rear passenger side window which fit description from the vehicle from the philadelphia abduction. Reporter federal agents from the Baltimore Office saw a man and woman in the back seat and block the car in guns drawn. As we approached the car, he was totally shocked, surprised to see these atf agents coming at him. With barns on the ground, agents found 22year old carlesha free land gaither in the back seat, too distraught to say her name after three days of captivity. As we check on her in the back seat, she was visibly shaken. She was very upset. The the 37 yearold is being extradited to virginia for the rape and kidnapping of a 16 yearold last month. Reporter are i talk to barnes uncle and another Family Member who scared for her safety asked that i in the use her name, but told me quote, delven is a monster and i have always been afraid of him. Im not going to say like everybody else he is a good person because he is my nephew. He is not a good person. Reporter lemar barn was not surprised that his nephew ace accused of kidnapping. The 37 yearold born in philadelphia but grew up in virginia has a lengthy criminal record. In 2005 he was arrested in philadelphia for aggravated assault, criminal trespass, false imprisonment, burglary and reckless endangerment. Lemar says the assault victim was barnes exwife. He has always had problem with girlfriend and exwifes and things like that. Reporter when barnes was released less than a year ago he helpedded back to Richmond Virginia where his parent still live. That is where police say last month barnes abduct and raped a 16 yearold. The teen was found bleeding, burned and smelling with gasoline and remains hospitalized. We are in a Small Community and something of this caliber almost never happens here. It is a shock to the community and im sure a shock to me but im sure the community is glad that this guy is off the street. Reporter wanted for capitol murder barnes fled to philly. His sister called me a week or so ago and told me something that he had did in virginia. So i assume he would come here because he has a lot of connections here. Reporter lemar says he knew it was only a matter of time before barnes would strike again. All i know is my brother called my mother and said that delven had done something else. I saw videos, going in the store or something, i knew then that was him. Reporter police say a Family Member tipped them off as to barnes vehicle. Lemar says he doesnt know anything about that. We embraced her. We hugged. Im just happy that it is done.
