Still to come on Eyewitness News a casino controversy, put 50 in the casino game, his friend pushed the button to reveal a huge jackpot, so who gets to keep the cash. It is age old debate, is there life on another planet . Well, nasa says it is the biggest piece of evidence yet that life can exist. We will tell you where and get expert input from Franklin Institute chief astronomer derrick pits live in the Einstein Health care Science Center, lauren . Easter Holiday Weekend is nearly upon us and we have a couple chances of showers, storms, maybe passing shower on saturday, some breaks of sunshine, temperatures in the middle 60s on saturday and temperatures sore as we head into Easter Sunday up in the 80s, muggy conditions, we will see sunshine for first half of the day and then scattered showers and thunderstorms breaking out so keep an eye to the sky late day on the are. Money changes everything or so they say. For one friendship it is certainly true. Their relationship ended, because of a casino rule. Here we go, jan and his friend , maria decided to try their luck at floridas seminole hard rock casino. He put 50 in a machine and asked marie to push button for good luck. The result . A 100,000 jackpot. Who do you think wins the cash well, upstairs eye in the sky said she touched button so technically we have to pay her i said are you kidding me. You put your money in the machine and nothing happens is there no wager. Whoever hits that button the wager actually happens. As green was saying this will extend to casinos across the nation, whoever pushes the button, wins it, as for jan and maria they are described as being former friend. I dont blame him and i think that rule is outrageous. You are putting out money, someone else hits the button. Cant you just split it. You put money in the machine ill hit the button. I can hear it in your voice , m mo money, mo problems is there other life out there, outside of earth. Nasa says there is new evidence that we have one and only derek pits from the Franklin Institute to explain, dont go away, we will be right back after a short break you are looking live at the Franklin Institute where were about to get insight into life , outside of earth, from one of our favorite gets from the Franklin Institute. But first lets give you background on what was revealed today. Could there be life beyond earth . It has been a debate for years but today nasa says it is one step closer to possibly, possibly being able to answer that question. Yeah, nasa announced a new finding the orbiter has detected hydrogen gas coming from vents in the oceans of saturns moons. This is a significant finding because hydrogen could be a potential source of chemical energy, for any microbes that might be in the ocean. Reporter many scientists believe that life on earth began in similar warm vents on the ocean floor, and the spacecraft has been orbiting saturn for almost 13 years and nasa says discovery of that Hydrogen Coming from the moon was completely unexpected. Now possibility of life beyond earth is an exciting one for the Scientific Community as you might imagine but how quickly would we see life, thrive in an environment like that. Doctor derek pits, chief astronomer and director of the Fels Planetarium at franklin instant tight joins us live from the cbs3 einstein Science Center tonight with a closer look at what could a scientific break through. Thanks for having me. Break this down for us. Because a lot of people may not understand exactly is what happening here. How significant thinks discovery. Well, this is a step in understanding what the possibility is for finding an environment that would be conducive, that would be, supportive, of life at this location, if there were any life there. You have to remember that when you talk about life you have to be able to identify, Energy Sources, food sources, and activity that would bring something of life. Nothing has been found there just yet but they have found a potential Energy Source in the hydrogen gas that is coming from, the hydrothermal vent on the floor of the ocean, and to me, to admit that there is a liquid water ocean is surprising enough, let alone the fact that there is a hydrothermal vent that provides chemical composition that can help build up organic molecule that is life would be made of but it also presents a really nice, warm environment for the life to develop should there be any there. Doctor, you are dropping some knowledge on us tonight. Wow, wow, wow. You said nothing has been found just yet. Quick question are we talking about life developing in what hundreds of years, thousands of years, what do you think. Well, it took life to it took life billions of years to develop on this planet. It is not that were necessarily saying that the life, the development of life begins now, it could be that life has been developing there for a very long time and were just identifying the fact that there thinks Energy Source in the hydrogen gas. There could be life there, already. All we have to does figure out a way to identify, and see, detect it, if you will and that might be able to be done, with the next mission that goes out to saturn in 2020. That makes it an even more interesting conversation, and, you mention that had nasa didnt expect this. They werent looking for it, just kind of cropped up what could nasa do to further study this phenomenon now that they have stumbled upon this amazing discovery. One of the things that is great about it is it has jets of liquid water essentially that blast out into the surrounding atmosphere, around the moon. It has geysers, and these geysers are spewing out this mist of water vapor. So what could be done is we could fly a spacecraft through that mist and use machines to be able to identify possible by products of a metabolic process, process of something heating and digesting something. Eventually sniff for waste gas if you will that might help us understand possibility of existence of life there. It sound like you believe there are other moons, other planets in our solar system that could be producing similar gases, in their ocean. This isnt the only one. Other one is moon of jupiter, which also has the same kind of environment which is a frozen icy crust with a liquid water ocean underneath, and if you think bit, liquid water oceans with these hydrothermal vents are beginning to present us the exact same scenario as we have had here on earth for possible development of life. So we have this perfect annal log between the two. Who is to say what could be going on there we have to dig deeper. One last question. Yes. Personal question. Yes. Are we alone . See, is there the big question, actually, ukee. That is big question in all of this work that everyone, astronomers every where are trying to figure out if there is life elsewhere in the universe, we really want to know are we alone . Well, that is not an answer , doctor. Come on, we thought you were going to break big news here. I wish i could but it is a big universe, who knows is what out there. My goodness. So exciting we know you are here. We appreciate you have time you come by. Thanks, derek. Lovers of the space do you believe in alien . We polled our facebook and twitter followers, today. Com cbs philly and find us on twitter at cbs philly, weigh in, let us know what you think. I know my grandmother is watching.
