While officials assess the damage, residents are worried about the much bigger issue here, aging from a structure, Eyewitness News reporter jan carabeo joins us now near the olds tastykake factory on hunting park the good morning. Good morning, this certainly is not the first time that people who live in this area have seen a break like this and have seen damage like you see behind me here this morning. No, there was similar breakin this area, of the old tastykake factory in june. And another just like it in january of last year. Now, one of the issues here is the age of these pipes. The one that broke this time around, dates back to 1895. Now, take a lock at this viewer video. This is what the water main break look like in hunting park saturday around 8 00 p. M. The breaks water rushing down streets, formed gaping hole in the old tastykake factory parking lot near hunting park avenue, westmoreland street. It took crews about two hours to shut that water off. And in that time, the Philadelphia Water Department says about 15 million gallons of water gushed from a 48entrance mission main. No one had to be evaculated. Water pressure has since been restored, but there is still a loft clean up and repair to do. Take atake a listen. Repairs will take some time. It is a large main, 48 inches is a large transmission main. Theyre not easy repairs to make. The excavation and the work around it is quite involved. So well be out here for, you know, some time to make sure we do this and get it done. Now, it is too early to tell if age was the cause of this break. Thats still under investigation. But, it certainly could be the case with equipment thats 120 years old, just last week Philadelphia City council actually introduce add bill that would require the Water Department to inspect pipes more than 100 years old, that could prevent breaks like this. For now, though, you can see, a lot of damage left behind, still a lot of clean to up do, before repair can even get underway, the good news this morning, is that all of the roads in this area have now reopened. Convict michael mims back behind bars after escaping custody in Burlington County saturday. Police in new jersey say mims was being brought into the Burlington County jail when he slipped away from the transporting officer. He was still wearing handicuffs, and did not have any shoes on. Police have not said where they found mims. The chester officer injured in a hitandrun on friday is back home this morning. Officials say that Daniel Hoffman was released from the Crozer Chester Medical Center last night. Hoffman was on his motorcycle when a man driving a burgundy pontiac hit him, then sped off.
