And we are so happy to have our good friends, pat ciarrocchi, here, my new friend, worked closely with Alexs Lemonade Stand Foundation for years, she is with jay and liz scott right now. High, brooke, jim. This is such a thrill to be here, ten years, what a great marker for all of us, dont you think . Yes, yes, just really special. And weve made such progress, i mean, tell me about diagnosis and treatment and really how it has improved in a lot of ways because of alex, jay . Literally treatments available now that werent vale within alex was diagnosed and we just funds add new project where they are actually taking the tumor, they are doing testing on it, so they can actually pay for treatment for each individual kid who has relapsed when neuro neuroblastoma. So you have seed monday that i goes to young investigators, then even to accelerate investigations. How has alexs played a part in all of that, liz . So we funds everything from very early Discovery Science all the way through to Clinical Trials like the one jay talked about, and the important thing to know about that is were filling all of those gaps that prevent kids, prevented kids like alex from getting the treatments they need to save their lives. So a lot of our funding goes toward relapse, and very high risk and hard to treat Childhood Cancers, and thats how we will change things, thats how we are making a difference for kids. Do you think in the next five to ten years, i mean, can we even say possibly we can find more cures for individual types of pediatric cancers . Definitely, i mean, we are finding new cures all the time, i think were really close, but not one magic bullet. It will be a bunch of treatment that help small sets of kids. And so youre working closely with the families, and theyre so inspired, when they talk about alex and when they talk to you. So it would be traditional for me to tear up as i talk. Alex would have been 20 years old this year. And so when you think about that, liz, what are your thoughts . You know, it is hard to think of her as 20, because she is always eight, in my mind, but i think she would be really proud and as she should be, and just happy to see the progress that were making every single day, and thats what she wanted. So for that im very grateful. So really it has been a stand for hope all these years, and we continue to take that stand today. Stand for hope together, 1 dollar at a time. I mean, this is pretty much perfection, save for the winds. Thats one thing that you will notice out there today, that maybe somewhat of a blemish on the forecast, but overall, bright, sunny here on skycam 3, as we overlook from Hotel Bethlehem moravian college, beautiful main street in bethlehem. Lets take you down the shore, as well, there is one loan beach chair out here, at beach patrol headquarters, im thinking the breeze might be little too much for a loft folks, but regardless nothing but blue skies out there, that will continue for us for the rest of the day, and actually for the rest of this work week, now, we got off to pretty cool start, early this morning we hit 53 degrees under the nice clear sky, we were very far away from even flirting with record low territory, but it was the coldest its been since may 22nd, so, if it felt chilly to you this morning, understandable, it was. And certainly for the standards, as women, looking at storm scan3, nice, clear sky, i mean, clear as a bell, you have nothing more than few whispy clouds here and there, generally speaking that will be the story for us right through the end of this work week. But as we zoom it all the way out, nationwide, next system underway, or starting to get its act together as i like to say here across the Canadian Border into the canadian prairie, that will be dropping southeast with time, tan eventually arrives here, by saturday. So, meantime, nothing but sunshine, i love this graphic it, puts smile on your face, bright, sunny, Mother Nature on our side here for alex Lemonade Stand cbs3 stands for hope this afternoon, with that sunshine again little breezy, and little cooler than average at 76 degrees, but, it is definitely some good stuff. Meanwhile looking ahead to tomorrow, my personal favorite of the next seven days, 79 degrees, with lighter winds for one thing, but also, still that low humidity, what a picturesque day that will be. By the time we hit the weekends, next system will move in, that will bring the potential for shower if not even locally strong thunderstorm late in the day on saturday. Jim, brooke, we send it back out to you. Thanks, katie, you know, this is the cbs3 alex scott a stand for hope, tenth telethon, really big day. I have some stats for you. Did you know 36 children are diagnosed with cancer every day in the United States . Thats a huge number. This is also next to her, her very handsome dad, patrick. It is really great to have you with us, and we called awe warrier princess. Why are we calling you that . What makes awe warrier princess . So show everybody what you have there . You have a scar. It is the mark after warrier on her right arm. Patrick, underneath that sweet arm is what . There is a titanium prosthetic extends from her shoulder to her elbow, and really replaced her right humerous bone. Amazing, so what actually happened to claire . When was she diagnosed in. Christmas day 2012 my son pick her up and probably broke her arm because of the damage, the tumor had done, so we went to the hospital the next day and she started treatment early in january 2013. And so it is amazing, so if this had happened even way before that, she very well may not have her right arm, is that correct . Yes. So, youre very involved in alexs, actually have your own Lemonade Stand in sicklerville . Yes. Tell me about it. Tell us a little bit about your Lemonade Stand. Are you getting ready for it, claire . Were probably going to, if my dad get home early tomorrow, were probably going to set it up and put it in the backyard, and then we will take it out front the next day. Beautiful. So you are going to build it in the back and then put it out and youre street . Ten chevy chase road sicklerville. So claire will be there, and youll be pouring lemonade and encouraging people to make a contribution to alexs Lemonade Stand found days. Patrick, really, when you look at her, what do you think . She is just amazing, and throughout it all, you know, as we went through the battle, she really shines the whole time in terms of, you know, her willingness and resolve to just fight like other children that have to go through this. Right. Fight the princess warrier that you are, with her most fantastic pink boots. You look beautiful. I wish you well, i hope that everything really goes great over the weekends at your own Lemonade Stand. Thank you. And continued good health, claire. Patrick, thank you so much.
