New tonight, he says he was minding his own business heading to get groceries and thats when he says a group of teenagers attacked him. Good evening everyone. Im natasha brown. Thanks so much for joining us tonight. That victim is talkin talkins conclusively with Eyewitness News. Police are hoping surveillance cameras in the area of 20th and oregon in south philadelphia will help them in their search for the suspects. Eyewitness News Reporter matt rivers spoke exclusively with the victim tonight who says his frightening ordeal could happen to anyone. Reporter natasha the victim tells us that he parked parked his van along the 1900 block of oregon before 6 00 p. M. On saturday. He was going to get groceries. When he left his van he had for got 10 his wallet april side the glove compartment. When he turned around to go get it he saw the group of people rushing towards him. He asked that we not identify him for fear of retaliation. But he described what happened next. They ran toward me and bomb rushed me, hit me, symptommed and me and kicked knee in my head. Reporter pinned down to the sidewalk and surrounded there was little he could do. Like this. Try not putting my fists up but trying to protect myself. I was trying to stay alive. I was doing the best to protect myself. Nervous, scared. Reporter eventually a bystander comes over to help and the victim says the group scattered. He went home and filed a Police Report midday on sunday. The victim says all he wanted to do was go grab some groceries before heading home for the night but instead his nursing bumps and bruises across his body after the alleged attack. Its a question if youre at the wrong place at the wrong time. It can happen anywhere. Reporter you think it was completely random . Y. Reporter police are continuing to investigate this case by trying to elect any Surveillance Video of that alleged attack. As well as trying to locate any witness that is could come forward. No suspects have been identified so far. Were in south philadelphia, matt rivers cbs3 Eyewitness News. Developing now the fbi is aiding in the search for a missing West Chester University student shane montgomery. This as we learn the reward has now been increased to 15,000. Shane was last seen leaving a bar early thanksgiving morning. Eyewitness News Reporter Steve Patterson tells us today teams turned their attention to the Manayunk Canal. Reporter this is what day four looks like in the search for shane montgomery. Seven guys in yellow jump suits with the grim task of poking the Manayunk Canal a few hundred times. With all the optimism she could muster shanes mother watched. Its upsetting to know that this is what they have to do but its also i cant express my gratitude to the Police Department, um, and anybody thats been helping with this search. Reporter marine unit started wading the boardwalk shortly after 10 00 sunday morning with crowd gathers at every point along the way, they painstakingly searched for any sign. Just to give you an idea how long this process may take you see the seven member crew behind mirror they are stretched out the entire width of the canal poking and prodding every inch and they cant see to the bottom so they have to stop every few minutes in case they feel something or get an idea that something might be there. I spoke to the commander. He says this may take somewhere in the area of five hours. Im not giving up any kind of hope. Everyone who journeyed to thanksgiving table is heading home. More than 95,000 people made their way through Philadelphia International today. 15 more than last year. Some of the suburbs again closing in on 60 degrees this hour in mt. Holly, new jersey and in northeast philly quakertown still colder in the 30s with some of that snow still on the ground. Certainly do need some of the rainfall its been dry the past few months and temperatures have been on the extremes. Theres that colder air Lehigh Valley, berks county in the 30s. Look whats happening to the south and west of us. 58 in washington. 62 in pittsburgh. Theres a cold front to the west. So were out ahead of it. Some milder air continues to push on in. Heres the setup. That front still out over ohio. Little thin line of showers moving eastward a lot of that moisture will begin to break up as it pushes into the Delaware Valley tomorrow. So just expect partly to mostly cloudy skies overnight into your monday. Its going to be mild upper 50s to maybe 60 degrees for monday afternoon depending on how much sunshine we do see. The front will move through. Then it kind of stalls off the coast. Little disturbance rides along that front. And there could be some colder air that moves in behind the front that kind of gets trapped at the surface so a period of light rain and even some snow in some parts of the area tuesday afternoon into tuesday evening its very light. Its not a big storm system. Were get another warm front that comes through for wednesday and temperatures rise back above average in the 50s. Lets time the out for you. Overnight, some clouds around okay start to your monday morning. The commute looks good. The front will come through late in the afternoon. Theres some of that moisture to the south. Monday afternoon but theyre the front much theres that drop in the temperatures. Some of that cold air moves back in 30s for the suburbs to near 40 for a high here in philadelphia. For tuesday afternoon. But overnight mostly cloudy not as cold we drop to about 50 degrees. Mild monday, partly sunny upper 50s possibly even 60 in some locations. Heres the extended forecast. Brief shot of colder air moves in for tuesday with a high near 40. There could be light rain in the afternoon. Could be mixing with some snow especially north of the city. Into once we go.
