One of my favorites is hes someone who never became washington. Im curious nchl that chair, how do you feel washington has changed from when you started to now . Well, its been turned upside down as has everything because of this revolution in communications. You know we now dont know where people get their news but what we do know is theyre bombarded with fwhfgs 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Most of the information is wrong and some of it wrong on purpose. It is our job, i think, in mainstream journalism to try to cut through this mall of information and tell people what we think is relevant and what they need to know about. That is the job of the journalist. And i have the say its harder and harder. The other thing that has changed, of course, is this influx of money. I mean our campaigns have become i have more billionaires than you do, so im a viable candidate. I dont think thats what the founders had in mind when they started this country. I dont know where it goes but something has to change on that front. What we have now, people have to sign off with so many special interests before they get to washington that once theyre here, they cant compromise. And when you have a government and a legislative body that cant compromise you have what you have. A legislative body in constant and total gridlock. Reporter for more than 26 years crosley green has been incarcerated for a murder that he says he did not commit. I did not kill that young man. Reporter the case began in 1989 when a young woman called 911 saying her boyfriend had been shot in a florida orange grove. She remained in the vehicle out here and refused to walk down there. The victim 21yearold chip green had been shot in the chest. You dont want to see him . Whats wrong with that . She said she and chip had been in this truck, this truck, when a black man with a gun hijacked and drove them to that remote grove. She alone managed to get back into the truck and escape. Halek recorded by police said the assail land had tied chips handed behind his back. Yet somehow flynn managed to get ahold hold of his own gun and fired. The guy stepped back. Chip journeyed out of the truck. I jumped in the truck. Chip with the gun in his hands tied behind his back opens the door of the truck and propels himself out of the truck shooting the black guy. Its bizarre to be charitable. Yet detectives never considered her to be a suspect. Anyone whos present at the scene of a shooting gets their hands tested for gunshot residue. That was never done. Reporter Christopher White now retired was the prosecutor in this case. No gsr taken of her hands. Why not . I dont know if there was or was not. There wasnt. Why werent clothes collected, pictures taking on her hands and arms to see if there were injuries . Thats a good question. I guess you need more examination. Reporter he said theres no reason do doubt her. Theres nothing here can crete to say she lied. Reporter so when she picked green out of a photo lineup he was charged and convicted of the murder and sent to death row. Its an example of race being a substitute for evidence.
