It was terrible. It was awful. Just awful. So what changed . What snapped you back . It wrath other fail and look like a fool. She wasnt done with quitting everything, however. Nearly two decades later, ready to down a glass of wine, she suddenly got the urge to pour it down the drain instead. I started going to aa. I was never tempted to pick up a drink ever again. Freaked me out that people left aa and got drunk again. Why would you do that . Its 22 years later i havent had a drink. Thats when it all started to click. Friendships flourished and romance. It took awhile got comfortable with the idea of getting married which she did in 2010 to psychologist laura em pre. I told my mother im getting married. She said, how . Didnt compute. They met in california back in 2009 lynch moved here after her stint with chicagos second city come me troupe. A late bloomer. But the risk she says was worth it. I guess it was scary but it so felt like the thing i had to do that there was never a question of going back. Within a year she was appearing regularly. Its about time you got here. Getting russia and china on board to pass tough sanctions in the u. N. Security council. Negotiating a cease fire in gaza to pry to prevent a war. And i think we laid the ground work for the world as it is and how america has to engage. And secrets talk to win the release of american held prisoner by the taliban. In every discussion about prisoners we demanded the release of Army Sergeant beau bergdahl. What do you think happened that night he wept off base . I have this idea. I hope at least clarified by the Army Investigation thats been promised. But i agree with all those who have said, starting with the president going to our military leadership that its just a core principle. You dont leave anybody behind. But as we know sergeant bergdahls recent release only inflamed the president s critics. I dont think any of us, even i who served four years in the administration, can from the outside make that judgment. This was a hard choice, when it came time were in the situation room i happened to recommend that it go forward and that he make that decision. But i was fully aware that he could be riding his presidency on it. Your presidency was on the line, too. Lets assume. Only hypothetically. Lets assume hypothetically, your potential presidency would have been on the line, too. But at that point i was very much in the mindset im not going to run. Im ruling it out. That never crossed my mind. How is chelsea, having a good pregnancy . I could not be happier for her and her wonderful husband and for bill and me. Clearly being a grandmother is not all that is on her mind. Hillary clinton is weighing another run for president. I am not yet kind of making a list like i do, the pros and cons. When you heard the word always timers what went through your head . Shock. Shes got the Blood Pressure of an athlete. Shes 64 years old she can wear a bikini, you say, you curse god. I would want for him to be able to not have to take care of me. And if i had to have somebody else take care of me, that would be hopefully fine, too. Her symptoms have progressed. But b. Has the same positive outlook thats made her famous. Even with alzheimers, i think that things are going to work out. Im going to do my best to make it work out for me and for as many people that i can possibly help, too. But enormous challenges a wait her even as she puts a beautiful face on a terrible illness.
