Well it is reporting this morning that the japanese air bag manufacturer takata knew its air bags were dangerous ten years ago but covered up the results of secret tests. Two former takata employees told the New York Times the testing was stopped after two months and the evidence destroyed. D we have more. Good morning. That was four years after they said they first tested the air bags. The faulty air bags have been tied to four deaths and recalled more than 14 million cars worldwide. The secret tests were conducted atta ka tas facility in michigan on weekends and holidays. The defects can force the air bags to deploy with too much shards caution pieces of metal to go into passengers. Last night it responded to the report saying it raised additional concerns about takatas handling of the air bag issues and its one of the reasons its compelling them to produce documents. The vehicle ace affect were manufactured between 2003 and 2005 including the popular accord, civic, and crv. They were sold and registered in 13 highhumidity states. Tata kasays humidity hurts the stability of the bag. Employees were ordered to destroy all evidence of the test a decade ago. Takatas air bags are blamed for at least 139 injuries. A honda spokesperson calls it a serious allegations and wants to know if any of the pleas knew about the test. A takata spokesperson declined to answer. Annemarie . Thank you. Serious power. Six people were safely rescued from a burning boat near the florida keys. A passing boat got the people off the 50foot catamaran on thursday. The coast guard fought the fire for more than five hours. There were about 400 gallons of high octane fuel aboard the boat making the fire very difficult to put out. A giant alligator was caught on video casually strolling through ayearold on wednesday. The woman who took the video said the gator emerged from some trees near a canal.
