Alyssa otremba was raped, tortured, and murdered just 100 yards from her home in 2011. Now more than 4 years later theres a memorial in her honor, near the site where her life was cut short i was very grateful for it, that was sort of sacred ground to me the otrembas takes every opportunity they can to remember alyssas life, but they say theyre ready to move past her brutal death. I think what he did was overkill that day theyre hoping the recent news that their daughters killer, javier righetti, is pleading guilty will speed up the pain that comes with her murder trial i do think theres going to be a little bit of closure, and we wont be waiting around. A jury will decide in march wether righetti will be sentenced to death. A consideration the otremba family says their teenage daughter never got. He didnt consider alyssas life that day, so its hard for me to consider his. I do the jury to look at all of the points of the case and all of the information and then determine at that point what they believe is a fair punsihment. I do think its fair. The otrembas did share the trial would be tough for them. They say a lot of the brutal details of alyssas death they learn from the court room through testimony and evidence. Theyre hoping the shorter trial will help them avoid some of the righetti pleaded guilty to all of the charges brought against him including murder, kidnapping, and trying to rape another teenage girl in 2011 North Las Vegas police are investigating a shooting tonight that seriously injured a woman.
