At the age of one, our next guest weighed over 60 pounds almost three times more than the average oneyearold. Long struggle is finally starting to change. This is the beginning of jazzys journey. What makes jazzy special is she is one of a kind. An amazing the girl. At six weeks old we took her to the hospital because she had an upper respiratory infection. They put her on steroids. The doctors let me know ahead of time there would be some kind of weight gain. We just didnt think it would be that much. By the time she hit a year old, she was almost 60 or 70 pounds and by the time she was six, she was 146 pounds. Boy in class, he pushed me out of the chair for no reason and then all of a sudden everybody laughed at me. For your child to come home and tell you that her friends are calling her fat and ugly, its a terrible feeling. Its a terrible feeling because i mean of course i questioned my of course i questioned if i could have done something about it. Meredith joining me from San Antonio Texas is jazzys mom obviously getting emotional watching that. Tell me what was going through your head as you watched that. Hurt. I was hurting. Its hard to see something, you know, that your daughter goes through on a daily basis. Meredith how did you react when she came home from kindergarten and told you what had happened . I was devastated. I mean all of us were kind of. It took a toll on us. They asked fuss we wanted to press charges because the boy pulled the chair out from under her. Nobody helped her up. Everybody laughed at her. Meredith you decided not to press charges. We didnt press charges. Five years old. Jazz goes by the saying god doesnt like ugly and i just didnt feel it would have been but she is a boomerrang. She is making changes on her own. Meredith before we get to that, which is amazing. [ applause ] she is not the only one that has been bullied. You created a Facebook Page documenting jazzys journey. Some of the comments have been supportive and some have been ugly. We did an article in people. Com and a lot of the comments were amazing. I mean, but with the good comes the bad. And you know, they wanted to press charges and call cps or Child Protective Services and stuff like that. Your fault. It was mine and my husbands fault. The worst one i think was oh well, look at the mom, she shes a porker. She just gave birth to another meredith consider the source when you read Something Like that. There is something very wrong with that person, not with you. Well jazzy, what i love about this story is that you didnt. Often parents have to have the if theyre overweight and say we need to do something. Jazzy came to you and said im ready. You said ready for what. She said to get healthy. So how much weight has she lost in what time period . A year. No, since may. Since may. The end of may, beginning of june jazzy has lost 40 pounds exactly 40 pounds. Meredith thats amazing. And thats because she wanted to do it for sure. I want to meet her. I think its time to meet this little girl. Come on out jazzy. [ applause ] this is gorgeous. You look beautiful. What is it rik like to hear these people applauding you. It feels really, really happy and exciting. Meredith it is happy and exciting because people are proud of you that you took this initiative and you did it. Youve lost 40 pounds. Thats a lot. Meredith you work out three days a week to get healthy what kinds of exercises can people do in our audience to get healthier in the new year. Push ups, jumping jacks. Meredith those are always good. What is it that bothers you about them . The fact that im waking up and getting 1012 hours of sleep. I dont know why i wake up with puffy eyes and dark circles. You always pretreat this with lightening agents and camouflage meredith what is pretreat. In the Office Setting two to four to six weeks before do you a procedure to really get rid of it whether its chemical peeling or lasers. Have you to medically pretreat lightening.
