Heres whats happening, in the past 24 hours we have had this area of low pressure, a storm making its way from the four corners to northeastern colorado and through the rest of today it will lift and move on to parts of wyoming. But as it does that it will continue to bring a ch also its bringing in some rain out on the Eastern Plains. Drier weather though is following that. Its not gonna arrive until tomorrow though. Today the high of 68 degrees. Skies will be partly cloudy here in the city, and i am going to include that chance for showers in the plains and also in the mountains. Now, in the high country this picture was sent in by rick through twitter. This is durango. So we have a fresh coat of snow on the san juans from yesterdays snowfall, and now starting to clear up. Blue skies above the mountains. A closer look at where that snow is falling and you see near telluride that snow is falling lightly. Also parts of the Central Mountains and out on the Eastern Plains. We have clouds, light rain, and alsoer visibility, especially along i70. Now, no fog advisories are in effect, but there is some patchy visibility out there. So be very careful. As far as the temperatures go, remember im telling you there is more clouds out east. Thats the reason why the temperatures are a bit warmer in for the metro area, and currently we have temperatures in the 30s in the mountains and 40s out on the western slope. Fast forward to this afternoon. 60s out west, 50s for higher elevations, and lower elevations temperatures will be in the upper 60s, and out on the Eastern Plains a high of 68 degrees. These things were more complicated than i thought they were going to be. One, i was dealing with a 2 and 4yearold. Thats going to cause problems there. The other was there is a special way to cut burlap that i didnt know about. You might not either. Check it out. If you would like to make four burlap, scissors, fray check glue, cardboard, measuring tape, two letter stamps to spell the word double, paintbrushes, and yellow, orange, and red fabric paint. We will start by laying out, measuring, and cutting the burlap. When i picked it up at the fabric store the woman at the cutting station let me in on a little secret to cutting th measure where you want to make the cut, find the string thats nearest that location, and carefully pull that individual string out. Why . The threads that make up burlap dont necessarily fall in an exact straight line. Following this guideline might create slight imperfections. However, while the unseen individual thread intact. It tricks your eye into thinking the rectangle is perfect. So once the string is out, you will see a gap in the fabric. Cut along that line. Do this with your burlap fabric to create four rectangles measuring 17 inches by 13 inches. Next i added a little fringe. Depending how you want these to look, this step may be threads from each side of the place mat to create a more Country Style look. Youre probably noticing that these threads are extremely easy to remove. To keep this from happening any more than you want it to, you have a couple of options. I used a special glue called fray check and applied to each side of my place mat to keep the threads in place. Machine and sew each side in place. Now its time to start painting. I placed a piece of poster board underneath my place mat. Then using my letter stamps and brown paint i painted on the word gobble to the top and bottom of each rectangle. I let each dry and grabbed my kids the admittedly, this part may be easier if your children are older than 2 and 4, but it is still first i applied a generous amount of red paint to one hand and placed that hand print towards the middle of the place mat. Then i painted a generous amount of brown to the other hand and placed that hand print right next to the red one. The children were told not to touch anything and we quickly washed the wet paint off. Then waited for those hand part of the project for me. Finally, time for the yellow hand print. That one goes in the middle. Once all the hand prints were dried, i painted the body, feet, eyes, and nose of the turkey. I have to say each turned out so cute, and i now have a fun memory to keep missed a step . You dont want to do it next to the base of the trunk. Stick this down about 8 to 12 inches and water deeply. Then you can see if youre using a sprinkler you can set out dishes and measure when it gets to about an inch of water. That fills the dish. Then you know how much youve used. Smart. This is not windex. This is just to see how much water is in the glass. Or you can use soaker hoses because you want to just go like really snow. It should be slow.
