A woman is recovering after an or deal that has left a small down in colorado in shock. The woman was kidnapped, held hostage, and tortured for four months. Tarhonda, this all happened in the town of gateway. It did. The people who live near this house say they had no idea something terrible could be happening inside. Police say the owner of the home, Claude Lee Wilkerson had kidnapped a woman and chained her up inside the home. The woman says she was repeat repeatedly tortured for months. The victim tells police that wilkerson claimed to be a serial killer. A 14yearold runaway was there when the alleged crime happened. She said she helped wilkerson tie up the victim. Will zero con had offered her wilkerson offered her a place to stay. Once the teen got away, she alerted the deputy. He talked to the 26yearold woman who appeared very nervous. The woman had a warrant. It was 50, but she begged to be taken into custody. Something was wrong. 50 warrant is something we typically dont bring people in on, but he felt something was wrong and he needed to get her away from mr. Wilkerson to find out what was going on. Something more shocking about this case, this suspect used to be on death row. He was convicted of a triple murder, but the judge threw out his unifyings because he went waive his rights. Hes in jail on a 1 million bond. He spent four years on death row in texas before a federal court threw out his conviction and wilkerson was freed and moved to colorado. Wilkerson was accused of plotting a bank robbery with three other people and helping kill three witnesses. They held them hostage, taped them up, put duck tape over their eyes. And wilkerson confessed to part of the crime. The problem, the confession came after he asked for a wilkersons lawyer is in texas now and says he still hears from him periodically, and he wouldnt be surprised to hear from him again soon from jail. Being drugged and being assaulted. Police say all of that happened to a 26yearold woman who came here because she had no place to go. Claude Lee Wilkerson offered her a place to stay. Row. So far denver works tells me theyve mixed 11,000 potholes this yeartodate. Many of you say there are still many more. Its horrible. Its horrible. Its the worst thing. Its progressively getting worse and worse. Those pesky potholes just keep popping up. Its the same story every year. One hole after another. Everyone has that spot that drives them nuts. But Denver Public works says theyve made it a priority to patch them up. Theyve filled 11,000 so far this year. More than 101,000 last year and 78,000 in 2014.
