To the western slope, were watching heavier pockets of rain pushing through with the monsoon winds carrying that sub tropical moisture and whipping it back into our state where the Flash Flood Watch will continue for most of the western site until midnight tonight. Scattered showers pushing in across the far Eastern Plains gaining intensity out there. Not only are they dealing with lightning but also some and very heavy rains. So far i havent seen any severe cells out of those. You can see around the i25 corridor, bone dry, a little sunshine here and there. But those showers are once again starting to reform in the mountains and in the foothills, we could see a couple pushback into the city. For now its going on the Southeastern Colorado that were keeping a close eye on as far as severe thunderstorms. 70s in fort collins, greeley, and we have 81 at dia. We will monitor a few showers here and there. I have good news, itll be looking a little dryer. Well be talking about sizzling temperatures soon. Most people step away quickly from bad smells but thats not the case at the denver Botanic Gardens where a smelly bloom is attracting the hours ago. It caught staff by surprise. They talked to 9news reporter jessica about why this was extremely rare. Reporter there was lines wrapped around the denver botanic garden. Hundreds of people hoping to soak in the sights and smells of the infamous corpse flower the corpse flower is in bloom again and this time people dont want to miss out. If youd like to see a rare you have to do is follow your nose. It smells like an old sponge. Kind of like garbage. Did you smell anything . A corpse flower has once again bloomed in denver. We werent sure when it would happen. But it happened today. Reporter this was a total surprise to horticulturalists like nick, he didnt think the bloom would survive. Its basically like a child, you dont know when s to be delivered. Reporter it only took a couple hours before news got out and people packed the pavilion. I said hurry and eat we need to rush and beat the crowds. We missed it last year. We got to see it now. Reporter the corpse flower can be easy to miss. It only blooms every eight to ten years and lasts for two days. My child has grown up to be a flower, thats incredible. People from all around the world watched a live stream for days as it slowly bloomed. We were waiting for this to happen forever it seems like. Tens of thousands of people lined for for hours to get a whiff of that stench. A mosquito born virus is spreading in north colorado. This time its west nile. The first human case of west nile was confirmed in will recovering at home greeley is recovering at home. A second case is under investigation nearby in the johns town area. Colorado State University found a west nile case in a horse in well county. West nile can spread in birds and other animals. Mosquitoes then bite those animals and can in turn infect humans. Because of these cases, Larimer County plans to start spraying for mosquitoes on monday. The Health Department will be spraying around fort collins, were told thats going to happen next week. Mosquitoes at home is to use insect repellent. Get rid of standing water and cover exposed skin. A married couple is facing charges after trying to hit and bite security guards at a campground. It happened north of fort collins. Larimer county deputies say bruce attacked the guards with a bat. When the guards tried to restrain him, his wife hit a deputy with a flashlight. Deputies say he then tried to bite them, even tried to kick out windows of a patrol car. But everyone is expected to be okay. A man was shot several times while driving on i70 and investigators dont know who did it or why. The man is from kansas. He was driving in Elbert County yesterday. When he says a blue honda pulled up next to him. His car was riddled with gunshots and he was injured. Emergency crews flew to the hospital for treatment and now investigators are looking at surveillance videos from nearby businesses to try to track down the shr.
