Alameda has more than 174 float and and in redwood city, there was an annual pancake breakfast, they served pancake, sausage, orange juice and coffee and had 650 pound of pancake mix, 25 gallons of syrup and 50 pounds each of coffee and orange juice. You come to the fire juice and theres opportunity to see some of the firefighters, see some of the Fire Equipment and then afterwards get to watch the parade. The firefighters say they are proud the entire breakfast was green and generate ed no waste. Lets go now to rosemary who is monitoring your 4th of july conditions. Reporter this is one of the most popular parades. The party continuing here still in downtown danville. People come from all across the bay area, earlier today they did to celebrate Independence Day. Fern flags filled the streets of downtown danville this morning. The citys annual 4th of july parade is a Family Tradition for many including kim and her crew. Everybody loves it. In San Francisco, preparations are well underway along the waterfront for tonights big pyrotechnic show. The entire display will be launched from four barges. Two located near the Municipal Pier and two others closer to pier 39. There will be 30,000 pound of explosives, including one display that looks like an octopus. Show organizers say it takes a lot of Technical Expertise for everything to work together. These will be connected together in a network. There will be a computerbased firing controller that will send a signal out and at specific times ask for certain things to be fired in the air. The show gets underway at 8 30 tonight. If you are thinking about taking public transportation, b. A. R. T. Is running on a sunday schedule with longer trains to accommodate. Muni plans to add special service for the celebration. Samtrans and caltrain will operate on the sunday schedule. In san jose, there will be a public display for the first time in six years, the rotary club is organizing the show. Thats expected to be better than the ones in years past. San jose and Santa Clara County donated 120,000 to help provide the show. But most of the money was raised through private donations. The show starts at 9 30 at discovery meadow and they hope the display will keep people from setting off those illegal fireworks. Just in case, the Santa Clara County Sheriffs Office plans to have sherr deputies down there deputies down there. San jose police will have extra patrols tonight. Those caught shooting off their own fireworks, could be warned, cited. Arrested. Hollister is filled with the sound of harleydavidsons today as thousands roll into town for the annual rally. Reporter in the light of day people along the North Carolina coast are getting their glimpse of any damage from hurricane arthur. Tree limbs snapped and transformers blew in the 100 mileanhour wind. Just to give you a sense of what it was like in the middle of the night here in kill devil hills, North Carolina, the winds picked up. The rain was going horizontal and sand was being blown all over the place. This hours after the storm slammed into North Carolina as a category 2 hurricane. The storm is moving north and things are getting back to normal. The North Carolina beaches are open for business. Even though many of the beaches are open and were still evat waiting some of the out per bank beaches, listen to lifeguards, look at the warning flags. Firefighters are making significant progress against the wildfire in napa county. The butts county fire is 55 contained. In addition the 4300 acre fire has not burned any more land. All evacuation orders in the butts canyon area have been lifted. We brought in 30 extra hand crews due to the steep terrain and the accessibility. Thats what we needed to do to extinguish this fire. Two firefighters suffered heat exhaustion and are expected to be okay. Theres no official cause. Investigators believe a landscaping crew cutting grass may have sparked the fire. Thats what will keep those afternoon numbers in check because the onshore breeze is still with us. Its not going to go away, at least not for today. Allowing the temperatures to actually climb a few degrees above yesterday is where im thinking we will land for the afternoon at least for most of us. Also watching the low clouds here. As we pick it up for you this evening i want to fast forward us into the afternoon. Were part of the partly cloudy to mostly cloudy along the coast of santa cruz but areas around oaks beach, probably mostly cloudy for most of the day. Take a look at what is creeping back across the bay. That onshore breeze going to push in the low clouds. It doesnt mean that the Fireworks Show will not be able to be viewed completely as long as those low clouds arent too low. We should be able to see that display. Caltrans is urging people heading into the city this weekend to use mass transit. The northbound lanes of 280 are scheduled to reopen at 5 00 monday morning. Bay area Law Enforcement agencies will be out in force for the annual crackdown on drunk driving. Several government studies show the 4th of july is the deadliest day of the year for american drivers. Many of those deaths are caused by drunk drivers and police and chp officers will be out watching for drivers who had a little bit too much to drink.
