That survivor was pulled from the water by a Fire Department rescue swimmer and taken to lorraine general hospital. He is in his late 40s, early 50s. He was hypothermic, but otherwise, uninjured and very lucky considering he was in the ocean for 40 minutes. His companion and we are not sure of the age or the relationship between him was recovered 100yards off shore by rescuers on a u. S. Coast guard boat. That man was floating unconscious and efforts to resuscitate him failed. There is an advisory out, warning of dangerous swells swells. Even if they dont have a high surf warning, always be vigilant about the waters. Dont turn your back on the water. Expect that the water will be unu unpredictable. Now, the fire captain at this scene tells me these men had realized the waves were too big. They were ready to abandon their fishing trip. And were trying to get back when they were swept off the rocks. They were minutes from leaving, but of course, it only takes a few seconds to sweep someone away.
