Those passengers who desperately hope ac transit workers do not go on strike. This mother for this mother of four ac transit is not only a comfort, its a need. Her son has to get to the doctor. I cant even do what i would do without ac transit. So im not sure what to do. Im a little worried, a lot worried actually. We would have to ask one of our relatives or friends for a ride. Which is not likely. Reporter thats because theres only one bus line that runs every half hour through this area that is so remote just getting to the nearest supermarket is an ordeal. Without a bus you would have to walk. And its probably a good half hour plus to walk from here to the grocery store. And if youve got tons of bags plus two kids, it doesnt work out that way. Reporter very few people have cars here, cabs are too expensive. We cant get off of this base if you dont have a car or vehicle. The only other thing to do is walk. Governor brown halted a looming strike sunday night and appointed the three member panel. At tomorrows hearing both sides must summarize the issue still in dispute and discuss how a strike or a lock out would affect the public. The board will then report its findings to the governor by the end of the week. And the governor could then call for a 60 day cooling off period. The b. A. R. T. Board of inquiries public hearing is scheduled to start at 10 30 tomorrow morning. Itll be held at the state building at 1515 clay street in oakland. This was the scene just before 11 00 this morning as traffic was crawling along the bay bridge toll plaza. The back up was caused by a stalled ac transit bus on the upper deck just before treasure island. Now this comes just a day after a big rig caught fire causing major delays for much of the day. Happened around 5 45 yesterday morning and created a traffic nightmare. In fact, it took 12 hours for traffic to fully recover. The driver of the truck said the fire started after he blew out a tire just before the fifth street exit. Caltrans inspected the bridge and reported there was no structural damage and all lanes were reopened by about 3 15 in the afternoon. A 2yearold boy is in Critical Condition after a two story fall from a window. The toddler tumbled from a home on pacifica avenue at bay point just before 9 00 last night. Someone passing by the home noticed the boy on the sidewalk when paramedics arrived his parents were tending to him inside but the boy was unconscious. He was taken to the hospital. According to a spokes woman, the fire was caused by natural decomposition in that area. The fire broke out this near at the National Cemetery on mcdowell avenue. Park Officials Say this is a rare occurrence. This is the first one that i can remember and ive been here 13 years. So yeah, pretty unusual. We get a lot of fog so that means not much fire. The fire burned about an acre. No buildings were threatened. Crews had the fire contained by 5 30. You may have seen these electronic highway signs across the bay area. This one was posted in berkeley today. Police are still searching for a man suspected of killing a woman and child and abducting one or more of her children. That alert went out late last night throughout california. Reporter Police Believe james demagio shaved his beard and mustache after he kidnapped both of his children. Demaggio killed their mother before tting it on fire sunday night. Were told anderson and her accused murderer were close platonic friend. We believe he set the structures on fire. Reporter firefighters discovered andersons body in the rubble and a dog deputies say had also been killed in addition to remains in the house. They basically sifted through the rubble of the house, at that time they came upon the remains of the boy. Reporter police have identified the remains of anderson and his son. Police have pled for information on demaggio and the kidnapped children. I mean they could have gone to another state. They could have gone to another country potentially. We dont know at this point. Reporter now theres a memorial for daniel stone. As he started his work way, stone was killed by someone who stabbed him 17 times. He had an incredible sense of humor, and was really, really just a nice nice man. Reporter 34yearold damon agman was charged with the stabbing in the case. His arraignment was the scheduled for next week. But were hoping that we may be able to locate him and see whether or not he may have witnessed some of the interaction between mr. Stone and the defendant. The day before the killing agne reportedly walked to hercules from sacramento. Just before stabbing stone, he spray painted his face silver and black the Oakland Raiders colors. Yes that was a raiders thing. And he did make references to ala. That with regard to ala encouraging him to help people. Reporter stones family gave us two photos but declined to speak on family but they said stone was likely trying to protect his coworkers when he was killed. Spokesperson at sfo said the cloudy weather prompted a slow control problem and that flights originating west of denver on any airlines were affected. Delays were in the 60 to 30 minute range. Temperature wise a lot cooler in some areas than just yesterday. In fairfield 6 degrees cooler than six days ago. In concord, 6 degrees cooler and in livermore six cooler than we were at this hour. 60s around the bay, upper 50s at halfmoon bay and the low clouds continue along the coastline and making their way closer and through the east bay at this hour already. Heres the system a few hundred miles off point reyes. It will continue to make its progression toward the coastline as it does were going to continue to deepen the marine layer. Going to continue to bring us the cooler air into the bay area and all the way into our inland communities. Heres a look at some of those clouds again. This in addition to the low clouds right now. Seeing mid and high level clouds with partly sunny skies through napa and santa rosa. As this system gets a little closer to us. Its providing enough lift from those low clouds to create cumulous. Thats what were seeing over head as well for today. The winds 26 Miles Per Hour so ramping up and continuing to be a moderate on shore breeze and quite robust at times. As we get into the evening hour, temperatures will continue to vamp up again. Widespread 50s throughout the bay. Into the 8 00 hour, sun setting between 8 10 and 8 15. 54degrees at degrees at the coast. And then into the evening hours temperatures will cool low 50s. As we get started tomorrow morning, widespread 50s, mostly cloudy skies. The fog will be back and patchy drizzle expected once again. 56 san jose, 55 for hayward. 53 for oakland, 50 degrees santa rosa. Upper 50s to low 60s for downtown San Francisco. A neighbor shot this cell phone video, black smoke coming out of this three story Apartment Building in oakland. I felt the heat under my feel. Reporter keith mead ran out of his bedroom when the fire began. He later showed us his bedroom. This room is directly over where the fire started. Once the fire started burning it caught some of the apartment just above it on the third floor. Reporter its too soon to know the cause. But some believe it may have had something to do with a domestic dispute. I heard someone went downstairs and set it on fire. Im not sure if its true or completely accurate but thats what theyre saying around here. Reporter nobody was hurt thanks to the help of people around here. I saw the smoke coming out, and i started banging on everybodys door to make sure everybody got out. Reporter red cross volunteers were out here until just momenting ago just moments ago. That volunteer said they were able to help several people. They were not able to speak to the couple that worked in the apartment where the fire started. Some people had to sort through what was left of their property. Fire crews responded to a fire burning at the Storage Facility on felipe avenue in san jose, smoke could be seen from 280 and highway 101. Four Storage Units were burned. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. A deadly gang related shooting at a salinas taqueria is now being investigate as a triple homicide. A 29yearold man has been wounded. Two others were hurt yesterday morning. Two others were wounded. A gunman opened fire into a crowd outside the tacos choice restaurant. It happened after a brawl spilled from the eatery into the parking lot. Police have not made any arrests. A teenager who walked away from a juvenile Detention Center has turned himself in. Authorities say the 16yearold boys grandmother talked him into returning to the law cabin ranch in la handa. He left to a family members home in the bay view neighborhood. No word how he got all the way up to the city. Now to the americas cup. The totally rebuilt team artimus racing team was back in the water for the First Time Since the death of a crew member. The marine layer has grown to about 2,500 feet in some cases. So easy for it to roll right over the Coastal Range in between the passes and gaps and were going to see it as we move through tonight and into tomorrow as well. Now this system thats bringing us the unseasonably cool weather also providing enough lift to bring us midlevel clouds. Were seeing that over northern sections of the bay at this hour. So if you looked up earlier today and thought, that cloud looks different than what this typical low cloud that we typically see through the Morning Hours and through the afternoon. You can see the low clouds stretching into San Francisco, you have to be on the eastern edge to still have the mostly sunny skies. Im seeing a patch over berkeley as well. And perhaps parts of alameda. As i scoot back a little bit, these are midhigh level clouds over parts of the north bay this afternoon. So, again our pattern is going to remain with only minor changes in store for your day tomorrow. Temperatures for the inland communities, the inland east bay, several degrees cooler than what we were yesterday. Around the bay temperatures were either near what we saw yesterday and felt yesterday to just slightly cooler. Perhaps even a tad warmer in some areas. 83 in morgan hill this afternoon.
