This happened late last night on highway 80. The crash involved at least two and four people including the elderly woman were taken to the hospital with injuries. At one point, all lanes on eastbound side of the highway were shut down but they are back open this morning and the investigation into that crash continues. Highway 242 also back open this morning after a driveby shooting sent a driver to the hospital. It happened in concord yesterday on south on 242 between the grand street and the concord avenue exit. Police say someone pull up alongside a man driving a gold mercedes suv and shot him twice in the upper body. The victim was able to drive himself to the hospital. Authorities say he did undergo surgery and is expected to survive. The suspects are described as a silver suv. Police did shut down all southbound lanes of that freeway for about two hours. You can see from these pictures traffic was an absolute mess both on the freeway and on city streets. Police have not made any arrests and so far theres no word on a possible motive to the shooting. This incident is this. The other four have taken place along the i80 corridor. The most recent one was in richmond. Police say they do not have a motive for those shootings and have not found a link between the incident. Nasa has released new images this morning of the surface of pluto showing mountain ridges and craters. Scientists at nasa say the images offer an intimate look at plutos diverse and icy terrain. These images were captured by the space agencies new horizons spacecraft during a flyby on july 14th. Scientists say the new images are six times better than previous images obtained by the spacecraft. Nasa is expected to release more images of pluto in the coming days. As we look at Northern California getting some good amount of rain and is a shifting closer to home, lets take a look at the north bay where we have a few scattered showers. Santa rosa, st. Helena, internet the free maybe a little light rain here and maybe a ride around the bridge. Areas like santa rosa and for the north picking up a halfinch or even more than that, but the further south you go, lets amounts reported so far in some areas not reporting anything just yet as we look into the east bay. We got oakland with light rain here along highway 13, 580, stretches across into moraga. If you can earlymorning drive, you may find the roadways of that wet. Time now is 8 07. This morning, an elderly woman recovers after a crash in berkeley. This crash happened late last night on highway 80 near ashby avenue. Chp says the crash involved at least two cars. Four people, including the elderly woman were taken to the hospital with injuries. At one point, all lanes on the eastbound side of the highway were shut down. They are back open this morning in the investigation into the crash is continuing. Breaking news into our newsroom. Chp confirming a man was struck and killed in richmond early this morning. This happened along the eastbound side of highway 80 near carlton boulevard. Officers say they found the man lying in the slow lane after being hit by what they say was a red honda. Honda did leave the scene. They say the sedan should be missing its rightside view mirror and will not damage to the rightside of the front bumper. If you have any information, youre being asked to call chp. Lets talk about highway 242. Thats that open this morning after a driveby shooting sent a driver to the hospital. The happened in concord yesterday on south on 242 between the grant street and concord avenue exit. Police say someone pulled up alongside a man driving a gold mercedes suv and shot him twice in the upper body. The victim able to drive himself to the hospital. He did undergo surgery and is expected to survive. Described as a silver suv. Police shut down all southbound lanes while the process that scene. Check out that video on your screen. You see that backup on the freeway. It was on city streets as people tried to navigate around this. Witnesses say the man appeared to randomly attacked people inside the late and stones station which is in east london. They say stabbed people with a small knife. The guy vanishing tonight. Tommy what you brought hearing kind of what it all means besides being yummy. I decided to make a smoothie. To be quite honest, my family doesnt necessarily celebrate kwanzaa, but we take that last week of the year to really think about reflecting on our ancestry and family and history and preparing for the new year. Part of that is about getting healthy. I thought of really scrumptious nutrient rich smoothie would be a great way to kick that off. Take us through it. We are actually using japanese persimmons. If you can boil a pot of water, you can make this. Its really simple. Will you some bananas and that will give it a creamy base. Typically, i use cashews in dishes like this. Walnuts are often used in southern cooking. Some fresh dates to give it some sweetness, and i have about two cups that have been diced. Im excited a new smoothie shop in oakland will be carrying this as a special smoothie for this week. Interesting in terms of consistency and texture. Its hearty. This is something you can have been prefaced. Well be using millicom which is a grain indigenous to western africa used throughout africa and asia. Its a great way to get people that kind of party feel so that you can have this is a breakfast smoothie. Adding millet, we have two cups of water. That looks so great. Fresh orange juice and a pinch of salt. You make mine seem so boring. How long do you blind . You want to blend it until it is smooth. Typically 30 seconds. And these are the finished products.
