The bus essentially was sheared off by about one third. The poll essentially in the middle of the vehicle. Five people were killed in this solo vehicle accident. No other cars believed to be involved. As a result highway 99 northbound has been shut down for hours. At least 16 people have been injured. It has been a difficult morning. We are finding out more information about where the bus was coming from, where it was headed to. It was coming from Southern California on his way to the sacramento area. Lets go straight to lee martinez on the scene. Reporter we were told everyone is off of the bus. They have a recovery effort going on for some of the people who did not survive. This is an horrific accident. This charter bus, five people were killed and several more have basic injuries. The bus stared off and start the traffic pole head on. One of the worst accidents in a decade. The truck was traveling from Southern California. An employee confirming the Company Received word that one of their buses may be involved in a thin or accident this morning. That Company Provides transportation from mexico through california and into washington state. The driver has been identified as mario basque as of los angeles. He is alive, but has major injuries. Six people were airlifted with major injuries and 15 others were transported to various valley hospitals. Back out here live the chp is trying to clean up the scene and get traffic moving again on the northbound lanes of highway 99. Right now highway 99 is closed and the southbound lanes are open. The california Highway Patrol says they do not have a cause for this accident. It is only involving the bus and the pole. No other vehicles were involved. Traffic is being routed to a side road and reconnecting with the highway. Are you getting a sense that the driver is being questioned by officers . Reporter as of right now i do not believe so. They said that his injuries were major and he was one of the people taken to the hospital. We do not know the extent of his injuries. We were told it is a very devastating scene on the bus. We do have people that survive, approximately 30 people were passengers and the survivors were taken to california Highway Patrol headquarters where they are being bad and comforted. This comes about nine months after the alleged incident in a mission alleyway where Surveillance Video capture images of the two deputies striking the man with a baton multiple times. They had just been led on a highspeed car chase. Amandas claimed use of excessive force. The two deputies in the case have been charged with assault. A third deputy was fired last week after i uncovered video of him holding what appears to be a gold chain that belong to the man. Also, a homeless couple told me back in january about two months after the incident that they were given the gold chain, drugs and cash as hush money because they witnessed the beating. This couldnt have happened without a really corrupt culture in that department. This civil rights case will allow us to really dig into that and find out what was going on and try to fix it. Reporter the man is a convicted felon and is currently in custody on unrelated charges. Meanwhile, the Sheriffs Office did not directly comment on the lawsuit but did say they are committed to a thorough, bear, and cooperative investigation with all involved. Also, one of San Franciscos tallest buildings is sinking, the millennia towers has sunk 16 inches and tilted to inches since being built eight years ago. This is according to engineers who say the tower offers condos from 1 million to over 10 million. People living there say they are seeing cracks and dips in the sidewalk and the basement. I am actually doing something similar here in new york and working at the new York State Office of children and Family Services with the juvenile Justice Department is really unattainable for a bout of youth that we see today especially. I do not underestimate the quality of life that people can have outside of an education. I think a large majority of youth today are very talented. One of the things that i do push is that we are in an opportunity of entrepreneurship. Rather it be crowdfunding to make your way through college or you are crowdfunding to start your business, i think there are so many different rows that you can take. I just motivate the you to be able to inspire and achieve whatever they see as successful and not what mainstream expectation is. And you are getting your dumb degree in social work.
