National anthem. I dont know about that, gasia. El me why, i am a bay area guy. You know, we got coldplay at the halftime show. Where is the love for the bay area . Oh, right. Okay. So clearly these gentlemen not happy with the choice for lady gaga. I like her. But for this event, gasia. Okay. They are measuring their responses. They are toning it down. We want to hear from you. What do you think of the fact that lady gaga has been chosen to sing the Super Bowl National anthem on sunday . Maybe you dont gaga. Carlos santana . Who would you have suggested . Let us know on twitter hashtag ktvuthe9. These two, izzy and enzo from daly city. I like the lid on those young boys. The warriors play tonight back east, wrapping up a road trip. Sal, you met these two out there yesterday . Yeah, they were with their parents and the 49ers are very well represented in super bowl city, as you might expect. As are the raiders. I met a number of raiders fans. By far, its mostly 49ers. Number two is raiders. Then we have broncos. So those are the three that i see the most jerseys. Good representation right there. Panthers fans start rolling into the bay area. If you want to be the super fan of the day reach us on twitter and instagram. Use the hashtag ktvu. And if you see us out and about, i have a special prop here, maybe you want your picture with sal. Or maybe sals minime. Too much sal right now going on here. This is the web departments idea. This is closer. This is life sized. Yes, it is. What are we doing with these . Ktvu will be out and about in super bowl city all day long for the rest of the week. If you see us holding these signs and you want your picture taken with sal, use the hashtag tvu and we will share your photos. You wont see me holding one of those. That would be too much. You know who else is at the super bowl this week but at the nfl experience is our own alex savidge who has been there all morning and having some fun. Alex, it looks like there is a lot of cool things for people to do when they go to nfl experience. Reporter yeah, one of the coolest things, sal, is an up close look at the hardware that the panthers and broncos are vying for. Thats the Vince Lombardi trophy. Thats the one that cam newton or Peyton Manning will be hoisting after super bowl 50 this coming sunday. Isnt it amazing to see it up close . I saw a little smudge on it though. Thats there are. We are seeing people, they are walking up and waiting. Everybody wants to get their pictures with the trophy. I am going to get a selfie in here right here. There we go. They keep the trophy in a secure location off site. They bring it in every day. Tight security. San Francisco Police officer standing guard here at the nfl experience. And this is one of the things you can check out. Its also a handson experience. Earlier i tried my hand at returning kicks to see how good i would be at this. Check this out. And over here in the north halftime Mosconi Center you really get an interactive experience. This machine sends a high flying punch right at you. No fair catches here. But now i got to return this thing. Easier said than done. Oh stiffarm to leo mack. He goes under j. J. Watt. Touchdown all right. Clearly, i have to practice my celebrations. Thats for sure. I cant quite spin the ball like the pros. All right. We moved over from the lombardi trophy, guys. This is the punt, parks and kick zone. This is where you really get to test out your skills here at the nfl experience. You get to oh, man. Thats just terrible. Come on, alex. Reporter oh, no. They are all sailing wide. Did you may in high school . Look, there you go. Reporter play in high school . I am flattered that you would say that, gasia. No football for me. Just basketball. This is the hail mary zone. We are going to go for the deep pass, right, guys . Here is the deep ball. This is ten, 20, 30 30 yards out. We will see if we can hit the man. What do you think . Place your bet. I think you will make it. Reporter maybe off the net . No. Oh reporter lets give this another try. He scrambles. He goes. He takes off. Alex is the only one in that place right now. Is it open until three . And he makes it very nice. Nice, alex. Awesome. Thank you so much, alex. Talk to you later. He has his run of the place. That makes it a lot better. You played some football. Its hard work. Its hard work. After three minutes, you know. He has many other skills. I will talk to alex later. That was fun. He is just wearing his jeans and a sweater doing all that. I think we need to get him outfitted a little bit better. Here to do that is the brand president of levis james curly joining us in the studio wearing his fine levis gear. I like that jacket. This is one of the items you have on offer for super bowl 50. There is a wide range of things. If i dont want to spend a couple hundred dollars . A few years ago we thought how do we connect with fans and all of a sudden we end up with levi stadium. We worked it backwards and say how can we connect up with fans . Tshirts and hats, 30, 40 bucks up to a leather wool levis jacket. I am wearing the varsity levi trucker jacket here. You talk about levi stadium. That was one your pushes. I go about the pros and cons about naming rights. Why did you think that of that . If you go to any concert, one of the common denominators is blue jeans. People show up in a pair of jeans, a tshirt. We thought how do they connect . Amazing what the Sports Companies are doing there. On the fans, why not create jeans. You have start believing thats going to be a great connection for our fans. James, people show up in jeans. Are they still showing up in the 350, 400 jeans . We talked about this. Guys who would buy these expensive jeans. Now, i always stuck with levis, maybe because i am cheap or like them. But levis, is that pant coming back . The 501 . The 514 . Are those back now . The reality is the 501 has never gone away. It was the jean that invented jeans. Whats amazing is there is a real return to authenticity and what the story line i get from strangers is, oh my good, i used to live in my levis. Who talks about living in Something Like that . There is a connection in the past. But how do we introduce the next generation to a pair of levis and what better way than connecting to the super bowl, connecting to fans, levi stadium. Someone walks in with their son, what are levis . Think of the story he tells his friend or daughter or sons. I see people doing on instagram what i did in middle school. Buy the levis, cut them off, shred them, for us they were a blank canvas. It was never very expensive to kind of play around. Now the supermodels are doing it. What it is, we are seeing a return to authenticity. People want to know there is ago authentic for them. Levis is the number one brand at any used Clothing Store around the world. If you think about it, no other brand can do that. Its individuals saying i want to have something authentic. I want something that can tell a story and customize it for myself. Its this return to authenticity for us. Its cool that its a San Francisco company. Yeah, since the 1850s. I used to sell denim in my days at nordstrom. Mr. Retail there. I got a little retail experience. When you came on board what was the toughest challenge . Something that levi wasnt doing . I think we all have an obligation to carry on the tradition of authenticity and denim leadership. We are the worldwide leader in what we do. At the same time what are the future icons . How do we innovate for the future so in ten or 20 years we say in this era we made a difference . We opened up a eureka lab down the street. We are looking at innovative fabrics. We lead in sustainability. We were the original start upin San Francisco. Energy and innovation and balancing it with the icons like 501. Panthersbroncos real quick . Think levis is what we really want, and i think a lot of people want, is an awesome game. I want it to go down to the wire. I would love to see first overtime ever at levi stadium. Fans rock injuring levis whether orange or blue. Great job. Thanks for coming on. Appreciate it. Now we are going to go to headlines of the day. We are going to go back to the oakland studios with dave clark. Thank you. The family of raiders hall of fame quarterback ken stabler say he had the brain disease cte. The New York Times reporting when stabler died of colon cancer last july his brain was removed and studied by scientists for several months. Now researchers at Boston University say stabler had stage three cte believed to be caused by repeated blows to the head. Scientists still dont know why some players get that disease and others dont. Meantime, the homeless in San Francisco will protest today against how much money the city is spending on the super bowl. A group of Homeless People and advocates will set up what they call a homeless super bowl city. Advocates say there is only one bed for every six Homeless People in San Francisco. The city will spend about 5 million on super bowl festivities. Homeless advocates say that money should be spent on the homeless. And ryan murphy, a Denver Broncos player who grew up in the east bay, has been sent back to colorado by the team after police questioned him about a prostitution sting in san jose. Ryan murphy is a rookie safety on the broncos practice squad. He regularly practices with the team, but did not play in a game this season. Well, as part of the crackdown on Human Trafficking at the super bowl, the Santa Clara County Sheriffs Office detained murphy yesterday evening at a motel 6 near mineta san jose airport. Ktvu has been told a prostitute went to the motel and told undercover officers she needed to get something from her car. They followed her to a parking lot where murphy and his brother were found waiting in the car. Murphys brother was cited for solicitations and then released. Murphy was questioned, but was not cited or arrested. The a whole bunch of them congregated over here. And then within maybe 20 minutes to half an hour all of a sudden we had black vans, people in suits and all this kind of stuff mulling around with these sheriffs and everything. Ryan murphy graduated from oakland tech. He went to oregon state. The Denver Broncos head coach issued this statement. Quote, although practice squad safety ryan murphy was not cited by police, we decided it was best for the team if we continued our preparations for super bowl 50 without him. Ryan is returning to denver, but his status as a practice squad player has not changed at this time. Those are some of your morning headlines. Gasia, sal, mike, back to you guys. All right. Safe, thank you very much. After a quick break we are going to talk to our landlord for the week, if you will. We are here inside the San Francisco Federal Reserve. We are sitting down with the Vice President and ceo of the Federal Reserve talking about what happens in this building and how it affects the money in your wallet. And he has a couple hundred dollars womens bills with him. Really . Welcome back to mornings on 2 the 9. All week we have been doing our broadcasts from super bowl city inside a really nice facility thats owned by the Federal Reserve bank. I have to tell you, this is the most secure i have ever felt. Very safe. You know why . Because they deal with money here. Introduces mark gold, the coo of the Federal Reserve bank. A lot of people are fascinated with money, how it gets put out there. And you decide you have a hand in deciding all that . Yeah, basically, what we do at the fed is supply Financial Institutions around the country and around the world with u. S. Currency and coin. So when you need cash, you go to an atm. You might go to the bank. When your bank needs cash, they come to us. And so we supply banks all around the country from 28 operating locations with u. S. Currency and coin. When that coin and currency is piled up in excess, perhaps, in banks, they send it back to us. We process it. We shred anything thats no longer fit for circulation. I have a baggy here, mark. We opened one of these earlier. What makes a bill unfit for circulation, if you will . Have you ever done laundry and found yourself perhaps leaving a bill in there . Yes. I dry it and reuse it. Am i not supposed to . Its okay. Well make more. But the reason it doesnt shred like maybe a piece of notebook paper is its actually cotton and linen. Its not the just a regular piece of paper. So its very durable. So it makes it through the laundry. When it comes back into us, we are going to shred that and recirculate new currency in its place. How does it work . If there is a bank in say, redding, and they put an order in. Someone puts it in a forklift and a truck and drives up . Yes, you place an order for currency with us. We have an online ordering system. You never would have guessed this. We prepare the order. We put it in an armored carrier and send it to the financial institution. How much cash do you have here . A lot. We have enough currency to meet demand in times of ves. Whether its the super bowl or the pope visiting or a storm or blizzard or something along those lines, we make certain we have enough currency on hand. Someone told me the 1 and 20 are the bills no most circulation, right . Thats right. The reason for that, if you think about atms, most of them distribute 20s. Of course, 1s are used in making changes for purchases at the point of sale. Do you have those 100 bills . I do. You made change to them, right . Here, you know, there is a little bit of a news story here. The old 100 the one that was formerly in circulation is on the top and the newer on the bottom. What you can see, we try to evolve the currency over time to make it easy for the public to authenticate, make certain its a real bill but difficult for counterfeiters to one of those old ones come back, do you take it out of circulation . Yes. We are only introducing new 100s. Have you ever been robbed here . No, we havent. You see all these guys around. This is very secure. A little known fact about the fed is we have our own police force. You see these gentlemen and ladies outside with our k9 officers trying to keep the people, the facilities safe. Are we always going to have cash . Its interesting. Cash demand is still very long. Circulation increases every year. You may not guess that. Whats happened over the last couple of decades is debit cards have eaten into the types of payments. Check payments have gone down significantly. Its eaten into cash demand just a little bit. But right now we see cash demand very stable. I have to interrupt. Why was i laughing . Our friend mike mibach said have you ever been robbed and he slipped a couple hundreds. It accidentally fell into my pocket. Trust me, we have Armed Police Officers standing outside the room right now. I have to say when it comes to money, there is the everyday money and then there is what i consider the special money. I used to get 2 bills from the tooth fairy. Even now the gold one dollar coin. I dont carry a lot of cash. I think thats a lovely birthday gift. Graduation. Whats interesting about cash is a lot of people say they dont really use cash all that much. But in our Research People use cash more than they think. When we ask when we do research and ask people to keep track day by day in real time of how they make payments, the reality is they use cash more than they think. Its usually small transactions. A coffee. I am going to watch as mike mibach hands you those 100 bills. Sal, did i hear you are going to the metalica concert . You may need these. Yes, thank you so much. Speaking of football, straight ahead right here on the 9, former l. A. Hall of famer, one of the best corners to play the game, mike ames joining us onset. Joining us now, its an honor to have one of the best corners to play the game, mike a m. We are just talking on the commercial break. Fifth overall pick in 76. What was that day like when you got drafted . Where were you . I was at home. Today i would be in new york, obviously. Top ten guys that they expect to be drafted are there. I was at home, answered the phone, you know. Hello, who is this . This is the patriots. Pr man fairbanks, you know support from leaders and off you went . Yeah. Good start though. So when it comes to the super bowl, and now its a huge game, but do you still ever feel like, wow, i kind of miss being a part of that . I miss, you know, being a part of the guys who were actually on the field, because after all this is over, it comes down to a Football Game and Football Players. Do you miss that . I dont. Its completely different than when i played. A media center is huge. Its the size of a football field. I think when i was in it was the quartersize of a basketball gym. Its all together different. Every reporter in the world that does sports is out there, wanting to do their interviews. Not the same at all. When you guys took down the raiders, take us back to your mindset i mean the redskins. Whats the mindset . What was your mindset four days out . Well, they were probably the most prolific offense at the time in nfl history. They were defending champions. They had already played raiders in the regular season on a monday night game. Kind of came from behind and won the game, you know, victoriusly. What people forget is marcus allen didnt play in that game. Cliff branch pulled a hamstring muscle on a touchdown pass he caught in that game in the first quarter. I was sitting out in limbo land. I didnt have a contract to play football yet. So the three of us made a huge difference and the confidence was completely different going into the game than when they played earlier in the year. I had not ever played in the super bowl. But i had played a lot of football. I never seen a team as confident as the redskin team. In the pregame warmup, i saw something i never saw before and i didnt like the way i felt. So it actually helped gear me up another notch to have probably maybe the best game i ever played. You got a pick. Yeah. Youre a hall of famer. Guys like us look up to you. So you are helping people get guys check their, remind them to check their prostate. Stuff they dont like to talk about. If it comes from a guy like you, maybe it will help . Thats the whole idea. I found out i had Prostate Cancer by luck, being in the right place at the right time. They were doing a screening for retired players. I had a physical earlier in the year. No real reason to be there. I worked at the nfl. They asked me to convince guys to take the blood test. I didnt know anything about it. So i said ill take the blood test. One of the ladies said, mike, why dont you do it . Maybe the guys will do what you do. I said all right. The doctor called me in. And he started asking me all these questions about my psa. I never heard of psa besides Public Service announcement, you know . And so when he gave me the is temperatures that one in six men gave me the statistics at that time that one in six men will be diagnosed in their lifetime, i said thats a lot. I said how many men are diagnosed with Breast Cancer . I didnt know what the prostate was. I didnt know the symptoms. I didnt know anything about Prostate Cancer. And more men were going to get Prostate Cancer than women get Breast Cancer. I learned that africanamerican men are more likely to get this disease. If it runs in your family, you are likely to get it. We did a biopsy and they found that i had it. It was just by luck. Speaking of disease, i want to talk about kenny stabler, doctors saying they discovered this cte brain disease. Whats your reaction not just to stabler himself having this disease according to these doctors, but about the disease in general and the state of football . Well, i am concerned about it just like everybody Football Player is. And i dont know how old kenny was when he started playing football. I was in the tenth grade when i started. You have already donated my brain. When i go, you will be getting the results of mine as well. And i wouldnt at all be surprised if i have cte either. Maybe every Football Player does. You may have had more contact being a corner than the quarterback who is protected . Today he is. Yeah. Not when kenny was playing . It was a different game. The rules have evolved. Helmets have evolved. Tackling has evolved. When i first started playing football guys had the strings, the suspension helmet, strings in the top of the helmet with a rubber doughnut so the helmet wouldnt touch your way. There was no way i would stick my head into a tackle with that on my head. Do you ever feel as if your football playing has affected your cognitive ability . So far, no. Thats how a lot of guys feel. I am 62 years old. I dont know if something happens that people will attribute it to my age. I am concerned about it. I am working with a lot of people concerned about it. There are a lot of Treatment Options out there that people are looking at. I had dinner last night with a gentleman here in the bay who is doing a lot of great stuff for Prostate Cancer, but he is also a football fan and he spent time working on something that might help with cte. Its a concern. Everybody is concerned with it. The league is evolving. If you have a son that plays football or even a girl, i guess could play soccer, you are going to be concerned. So im worried about it enough to spend a lot of time talking to experts and trying to make a difference with the young people with regard it the diagnosis, with regard to how to stay alive. When you play football, good cans you are going to get a concussion. The real danger is not getting the concussion. The real danger is getting another one while you are concussed. You need to know what a concussion is so that you can get off the field. All right. Mike ames, congratulations on a wonderful career. Thanks for all you are doing for men out there and raising awareness about Prostate Cancer. Thank you. Pleasure to meet you. Can i give the website . Yes. Of course. Know your stats. Org. Thats for more questions. A lot of guys are more like me than you might guess that dont know very much about it. Thats a great place to get started with information. Mike, thank you for being on the 9. When we continue, we will have an update on the chp officer involved in a stabbing yesterday. More on his condition and more on what we are learning about the man who allegedly stabbed him. Him. If you ride bart, muni for the vta, have you noticed extra police at the stations along the trains . If you havent, you might as we get closer to super bowl sunday. Coming up we will talk about a partnership between federal agencies and transit to keep you safe. All right. That time of the morning when we check that twitter feed. The question at the top of the newscast we were asking is are you happy with lady gaga singing the National Anthem at super bowl 50 . One response here lady gaga has not even had a song in forever, so why not have the bay area represented at super bowl 50 instead . Along those lines, mislaiddy boss 808 writes gaga is great, but local talent would be great. Santana, train or en vogue. And marina b scofield says yes to lady gaga at the super bowl and with a big exclamation point. She is on board. She is on board. Alan, she has proven she has more than a pop voice. So alan a fan. And the best way to make your voice heard, all of us look at this is just by doing the hashtag, hashtag ktvuthe9. It will come up on our device. At this point i believe we are checking the news of the day and weather as well. Lets see. We know its dry out here, steve. Anybody getting rain, or a dry day overall . Light rain later. Cold. Breezy, cold out there . Yes, yes. All right. Mike, gasia, sal, thank you. A weak system. This will be the last in a series until the change. Drier and warmer weather for the weekend. We are looking at clouds continuing to filter in. Dont forget if you are visiting here, i need updated weather information, ktvu weather app has everything you need for your tablet or phone. Get hourly information. That might be handy over the next couple of days. 46 at 9 00 this morning San Francisco. Super bowl city 53 at noon. Cloudy at 4 00. Dejah says i have my puppies and sweaters. 45 degrees. Even with high clouds and a bit of a breeze, that breeze is out of the east, by the way, and we recovering from the 30s. 40s right now. This is all thats left of the system. Not a lot left to it. It will give rain north of the golden gate. So marin county northward, there is some showing up. What falls south will be light. A little rope there that has to drag across later. By the weekend 60s. Game time temp could be about 70 degrees. Maybe record highs in the bay area on monday. All right. Steve, thank you. Time is 9 36. In other news, a chp officer is recovering after a knife attack in San Francisco. A homeless man was arrested. Last night Police Identified the suspect as 44yearold noll corpus. Police say the officer and his partner responded to calls about a man wanderingong the onramp to eastbound highway 80. When the sevenyear police veteran approached, he pulled out a knife and stabbed the officer several times in the neck and chest. This type of incident just really shocks us. As you could imagine, thats a very serious, violent attack. And also its very traumatic for our officers on scene who were there with their friend. Now, witnesses described corpus, who was later arrested right in front of a wells fargo. Corpus is facing charges that include assault on a peace officer and attempted murder. Well, because of the super bowl, local and federal Law Enforcement agencies, they are teaming up to protect Public Transit. Ktvu fox 2s allie rasmus in oakland now. Tell us what commuters have been seeing out there to far this week, allie. Reporter i can tell you what weve seen. We have been at the west oakland bart station since early this morning and we have seen two different bart Police Patrol cars and a couple of Police Officers walking on into the station. We havent been up on the platform. We are not riding the trains. Based on what some of the bart riders we talked to this morning have told us, they said they have noticed a slight increase in Police Presence at the stations and on the trains. That security is likely going to get tighter as we get close to the game on sunday. Federal Law Enforcement is getting involved in Public Transit safety this week. The super bowl is five days away and the days leading up to it the Transportation Security Administration is going to be team teaming up with not just bart, but also San Francisco muni and vta to have an increased Law Enforcement presence on the transit system. How this partnership will work we, dont know the details yet. The tsa is supposed to have a News Conference where they are going to be talking about this with bart, with sf muni and the vta at 11 00. So we hope to learn some more details on how this partnership is going to work as the day goes on. Back to sal and mike and gasia. Thank you very much, allie. So we had a great interview with the first vp of the Federal Reserve bank. I also met someone very important here at the bank and i want to show you a story that we did with one. Federal reserve officers and his partner norah. K9. Would you describe the relationship with your partner here . Its great. I mean, we have had unconditional love with one another. We trust each other. 98 to the unattended area. Good girl. Stay. Good girl. She found the close up training aid that she is certified to search. She gave me a positive alert by sitting. And that tells me that there is something possibly dangerous inside and to notify the proper authorities. We walk around the bank just to be a deterrent. Deter any type of crime or any type of terrorist plot, and also to protect our neighboring agencies like pg e and one market. Reporter in the end, norah is your partner, but she is also family . Yes, she is very attached to my family. You know, especially my mom. She always bugs me. If she retires, she is coming home with me. But we are going to have a battle with that one. Carlo, you know, a great man i met in our time here and his partner, very well attached. Nine years she has been serving the Federal Reserve bank. We are also talking about the game itself. We want to introduce super fan tracy saddler. You are not wearing the 9ers jersey. You threw me off a little bit. I know, i am in my switzerland super bowl gear today. I am a fan. We love having you on. You just rolled into town, you said, yesterday . Yep. What do you love about having the super bowl in the stadium that you love . Levi stadium. Well, i love levis. I love the technology. So fans are going to get to experience the levi stadium app and also the nfl super bowl 50 app where you can do so many cool things. You can order food to your seat. You can order food to a friends seat. Check your app for what restroom and concession signs are shortest around you. Can you order from a concession stand and by the time you get there you pick it up. Its like going to the drive through. When you were going to the 49ers games, are you using that . Oh, yeah. I want to go to the team store at section 120. You go on the app and it will tell you how to get there. You have been to a lot of 49ers games. How is this going to be different . Its obviously not a 49ers game. Still in the same stadium. A much different game. What is different about it . The security is going to be tighter. Traffic is going to be worse. People should get there really are early. What time are you getting there . 11 30. 3 30 kickoff. I am thinking by the time i park, walk, get through all the security checkpoints, get through the lines. I mean, even at levi stadium during 49ers games i have known fans have to wait an hour to get in the stadium. I think super bowl sunday is going to be like that. Are you driving . I am driving with some friends and we are going to be dropped off. But you still have to get through all that. So what do you like in regards of the game . 49er fan . I am. Are you pulling for the nfc for the Peyton Manning and jersey you got on here . I think its going to be the panthers. They really remind me of the 201249ers that went to the youtube. They have so many similarities. I have an an affinity to them. I think they are probably the most complete team in the nfl top to bottom. Its hard to root against peyton and whats potentially his last game. Thats the x factor. Can he get the broncos to really rally behind him . Football is a game of emotion. That being said, panthers. You were in contact with a lot of 49ers fan. Is there a group thought . The raiders fans dont want, for the most part, do not want the Denver Broncos to win a super bowl. I think thats true of raiders fans. A lot of fans have said kind of what i said. They remind them of the 2012 49ers. A mobile quarterback. Strong defense. Exciting offense. A lot of people seem to be pulling for the panthers that i talked to in the 49ers community. Are you going to be cruising around super bowl city . Oh, yeah. I love super bowl. Its the best day for me. As a football fan, there is nothing more than i love about a super bowl. On super bowl sunday, i will be jumping up and down. I will be in super bowl city, the nfl experience. I am doing everything. Before we let you go, a couple visits ago you had a blinged out Colin Kaepernick jersey. How much longer do you think you can win that . I dont know. You saw the news yesterday. Brandon marshall said i love ryan fitzgerald. I would not be shocked if he is a 49er next year. Go panthers when we come back lets talk about food. There is a food party the night before the super bowl. We will see what is on offer there. Chili and nachos. I like chili and nachos. Thank you. Right here in San Francisco bay area, a lot of events happening all across town. On saturday a taste of the nfl is actually going to be taking place at the cow palace. Third eye blind is going to be performing. Joining us this morning two people who are going to be a part of that celebration. Yes, wayne, the head of the taste of the nfl, and chef david of 1,300 fill more. When i think Football Game food, i think that orange cheese on the nachos and the hot dogs and, you know, kind of like street are you from chicago . No, i call those bad snacks, which is in front of us. This is not traditional football food . I thinking being here for the last 28 years, there is a notion about the food for the 49ers is always goat cheese, beets and white wine. I made a play on that for this event. We did a little sonoma goat cheese and salt roasted beets and a little praline strudel on top. I want it to ask you about taste of the nfl. You have been involved since the beginning. Tell our viewers about the meaning of it here. Its called a party with a purpose. Its not a tag line. It was started in 1992. I am from minnesota. Its colder there. Shocking. But i knew chefs around the country. I asked chefs to, from every nfl city, to pair up with a player or alumni or hall of famer and throw a party. Nobody gets paid. Its a volunteer event. This is the 25th anniversary. We have distributed 24 million to food banks in each of those cities, including here in the bay area, to alameda, marin. Its all for charity. Nobodys paid. But i challenge you to eat at 40 of the best restaurants in one night. In San Francisco, this area knows how to eat. This tops it. You have chefs from each of the cities putting out their best dish. They will say they are not competing. He has a good dish here. David, were you knocking on the door to be a part of this or were you sought out . They sought me out. When i heard what it was, raising money for the area food banks, i said i would love to do this. I have been going to the last three or four events. Lets be honest. When you are watching the game on sunday, is this what you are eating at home . What football food at your house . We opened up a barbecue place. We are making ribs and beef pulled pork and items like that. There you go. The kind where you roll your sleeves up and open your collar and stick a napkin in there . Yes. We have tvs in there. Good. We have within out at super bowl city all this week. I am eating a lot of foods that are familiar to me. For the out of towners they have never had sour bread bowl with clam chowder in it. I love coming to this town. A lot of friends are chefs and great restaurants. So youre right. People coming in should really they got to get out in these restaurants here. This is a unique part of the country obviouslily to you guys, but not everybody. There is a flavor to the food thats much better because of the culture of the area. So this all comes together. Its kind of fun. During the week while they are visiting they can enjoy the local cuisine. On saturday night you will enjoy cuisine from new orleans to crab cakes in baltimore. Its a heck of an opportunity. Yes. 1300 filmore, where do you find your inspiration . My inspiration is more of a southern style cuisine. I am known for my shrimping grits. We do grits with barbecue shrimp on top. All my influence is southern style. But with california ingredients and california lined of like, you know, food. Do you hate it when people take a picture of their food before they dive in . Yeah. My attitude is they bought it. They can do what they want with it, as long as they pay for it. I go further back. But back in the day these people would you know, someone would pull out a camera and security would pop up. Now a lot of places are saying, yeah. If you have that dish and youre loving it, tell the world. Right. Tweet it out. A lot different now. What is a tweet . Instagram these days. All right. Wayne and chef david, thank you for joining us. If you want to check it out, whats happening on saturday night, we have more information for you on ktvu. Com underneath the mornings on 2 tab. Thank you, gentlemen. Im going to dive into it. We grew up in a football family. Our dad introduced us to it. And were fans ever since. It means a great game. Family time. Watching great commercials and just having a good time. Great games. Great teams going on there, you know. Even though the raiders didnt make it this year. Music. Entertainment. A lot of fun. Reporter do you care about the game . Probably not as much as the commercials and everything else. Were sisters. Reporter what does super bowl mean to you . It really doesnt mean much. I am not impressed at all. I am like this guy is going to Something Else on sunday. No, no, im going to a super bowl party. Going to the party. All right. Thank you, gasia for that. I am excited for the super bowl. We will be right back here on the 9. The 9. Super bowl xxiv in new orleans. It was the 49ers against the Denver Broncos. The 49ers were going for a pete. When they talk about all time 49er teams, they talk about that team as potentially one of the all timers and its easy to see why if you think about the offensive weapons that that team had. I always remember media day. I remember that the 49ers, they had five guys on that team that were going for their fourth super bowl championship. Joe montana, ronely lot, keena turner and others. I remember those guys knowing, yeah, we have been here. We are going to win this game. I remember the Denver Broncos at media day saying, yeah, were here. We think we have a chance to win this game. The way they were kind of showing that, they all showed up with ray ban sunglasses. The sunglasses of the time. Every guy on the rotser, it was like it was part of the uniform. They showed up with their ray bans on and kind of a strut like, yeah, were in the super bowl. The 49ers showed up like it was a business meeting. Yeah, we think they are a good team. Still today most lopsided game in super bowl history. I love hearing him. I love that super bowl. One of my best friends from college is going to arrive here in San Francisco tomorrow night. Remind him about that score all the time. He may be reminding me of something come sunday. Marshawn lynch is opening a store in oakland and its called beastmode. Nice support. This friday he is going to have apparel from beastmode with hats and all that. You know Marshawn Lynch is an oakland native. He went to oakland tech.
