It is cold this morning, freezing temperatures around much of the bay area. One of the issues we saw this morning was black ice. It created some dangerous conditions on some of the roadways this morning. I was filling in for sal doing the traffic duties and we saw a couple cars that spun out on the onramp to highway 24 at fish ranch road. I had a couple people on twitter that said they had encountered similar conditions, mainly in the inland areas. We saw freezing conditions and thats what can happen. You dont see it coming. Another big story, comedian and Actor Bill Cosby charged in connection with a Sexual Assault allegation from more than ten years ago. Charges today were filed as a result of new information that came to light in july of 2015. The statute of limitations in this type of case is 12 years. After determining the statute of limitations had not yet expired, the investigation was reopened. The woman says cosby drugged and sexually assaulted her at his home in philadelphia in 2004. The 78yearold previously said under oath that he did have consensual sex with the woman. The previous District Attorney declined to charge cosby in 2005. This is the first criminal case against cosby since several women came forward accusing him of Sexual Assault. If convicted, he could face up to ten years in prison. And this is just days before the 12year statute of limitations ran out. Maybe prosecutors dont have the slamdunk case but because the clock was ticking, they said roll the dice. And its a story that wont go away. To me its one of the disappointing stories really of the year, but a lot of people didnt want to believe any of that. Just more and more information comes out. And a lot of folks who have been defending cosby all along point to the fact that hes not been charged. Now you can no longer use that because hes been charged with the crime. Well see how it plays out. Back here in the bay area, two people fighting for their lives after they were stabbed last night in san jose near a fast food restaurant. We spoke with restaurant workers about what may have led up to the attack. Reporter inside this carls jr. , employees told me the victims had been eating inside there and when they finished, they went outside and thats when the attack happened. This is the evergreen area of san jose, not known as a hot spot for violent crime. The male victim ran toward a gas station and the female ran toward a Grocery Store in the nearby shopping plaza. Police found both suffering from at least one stab wound. They were rushed to the hospital and are now in critical condition. Police spent hours collecting evidence and talking to witnesses and their investigation shows the victims were attacked by a group of male suspects who then jumped into a car and left the scene. Police are looking into the possibility this could be gang related but a lot of questions remain. We dont know if the victims knew the suspects. Another big story out of fairfield this morning, a grandmother was arrested, accused of drowning her 4year old grandson in a bathtub. 51yearold dawn Diana Raines Hewes is being held without bail on murder charges this morning after police found the boy unconscious and not breathing at the home yesterday morning. Police think that he was placed inside the bathtub by his grandmother and then intentionally drowned. They immediately began resuscitation efforts. The boy was transported to a local Trauma Center nearby where he died. Police say dawn Diana Raines Hewes had custody of the 4year old and was also taking care of two granddaughters ages 1 and 6. They were not hurt. So far no word from investigators about a possible motive. Investigators in concord are looking into whether an Early Morning house fire was started by squatters. A battalion chief sent us these incredible pictures of the fire, flames engulfing the home at third street and willow patch road. Crews put out that fire about 3 00 this morning but the fire chief tells us squatters were seen in the home before the fire started. No reports of any injuries, though. We have been talking all week about the raiders and they are apparently not impressed with the city of oaklands efforts to keep the team here. Today is the nfl deadline for the city of oakland to submit a Financial Plan for building a new stadium. Leaders sent a fivepage letter to the nfl to League Officials detailing why they believe the raiders should stay in oak lan and not move to the l. A. Area. But that letter doesnt include a firm Financial Plan. The mayor anticipates ongoing dialogue with the nfl and raiders in the coming weeks. We need to make sure our taxpayers are not left on the hook, that were making responsible investments with the public dollar. Theyre in a great place and got to get their act together and stay home. The county is paying off millions in debt from the coliseums overhaul in 1996. Local leaders say they are not offering new public money for a stadium but offering 60 acres of the current site for construction and 8,000 parking spaces. But the raiders owner wants control of the entire coliseum land. In an interview with the bay area news group, davis said this today is the deadline for st. Louis and san diego to submit their proposals to keep their teams from relocating. St. Louis turned in their plan a day early. These are drawings of the 1. 1 billion proposal, some of the city coming from the city and from the state. Nfl owners are scheduled to meet next month to discuss which if any teams should move to l. A. The state of missouri right now is practically underwater, yet they are still able to come up with this plan. Shows the passion at least the government leaders, the state house and city level, that they want the rams to stay. They might get the emotional vote. Part of the plan, getting their idea to get 150 million from the city. To the stadium. And the mayor has been firm she doesnt want taxpayer money spent on the stadium. On a twogame road trip in texas and last the possibility curry wont play in one or both of those. He had a tripledouble monday night but he was seen limping. San Francisco International airport welcomed its 50 millionth passenger this year, a new record for number of passengers served in a calendar year. A very brutal Christmas Eve attack on a correctional officer in a south bay jail is leading to new security measures. This happened inside a medium security dorm unit of elmwood jail. The deputies saw and inmate hiding homemade alcohol. When the inmate dropped it, the guard bent down to pick it up and several inmates jumped him. Probably both shoulders, maybe a hip injury, still evaluating head injuries. The guard is on medical leave now. The sheriff has added more staffing at the jail and limiting the number of inmates allowed out of their cells at a time. Also nine gallons of alcohol and a 7inch homemade knife was confiscated. Police say a Christmas Day confrontation with 31yearold william rapp called police and when police arrived, he was outside waving a 9inch knife. He lunged at the police and one officer fired a taser but two others fired their gun. The police have not said how many times he was shot but the investigation into the incident continues. It is quite a situation in the central and southern united states, experiencing heavy flooding in those areas. These are aerial pictures taken about two hours ago. This is an area about 20 miles north of st. Louis, missouri. You can see the roads and highways along the missouri and mississippi rivers are underwater. Several days of downpours have caused rivers to rise, forcing several towns to be evacuated and shut down more than 200 state highways. Pope francis has asked people to pray for flood victims during a public address held in rome earlier today. Back in the bay area, San Francisco police want your help to find two men they say attacked another man on a muni bus. Reporter lets take a look at the Surveillance Video now. This happened on november 3rd at 1 45 a. M. On board the 14 mission bus near mission and 6th. Police say a 55yearold man got into an argument with two younger men on the bus because he suspected they were trying to rob other passengers. After that they argued a bit and that led to a physical confrontation. One of the suspects seen coming on and off the bus four times to attack the man but the victim stands up for himself, punching and kicking at least one of the suspects. Wed like to make an arrest and identify who these two criminals are because if they did it to this one male, they will dot it again. Usually stay up front and just pay attention. At one point the victim took off s jacket and appeared to return to his seat and the suspects appeared to run off with the jacket. Its unclear if anything was inside the jacket. Police describe one of the suspects as 52 and the other 59. It also remains unclear why the driver did not close the bus doors in this incident. The victim was not identified but he was treated at San Francisco General Hospital and was later released. Back to you. We are now learning that an 18yearold known as the affluenza teen we have been talking about for some time, he and his mother will not be extradited to texas today from mexico. Thats what we originally heard but a mexican official is telling the Associated Press that they are on a threeday delay. Couch is accused of a drunk driving crash that killed four people. He was found with his mother in Puerto Vallarta after one of them used a cell phone to order pizza. Thats how they were caught. They disappeared after authorities were investigating whether couch violated the terms of his probation. Made a plan to visit her, that they even had something that was almost akin to a Going Away Party before they left town. Our suspicion that his mother was assisting him and helping him has proven true. Back in june of 2013, couch was 16 years old and driving drunk according to authorities when he killed four people. His defense team was able to convince a jury that the teen suffered from what they called affluenza, saying his wealthy parents spoiled him so much that he didnt know right from wrong. That led to couch receiving probation rather than a prison sentence. A 900pound elephant seal determined to cross the highway has been moved to point range national seashore. Rescuers tried several times to nudge the seal back toward the bay. Shed been hanging out near 37 since monday and yesterday they injected her with a sedative, loaded her into a truck and drove her to an elephant seal colony. They still dont know why she was so determined to cross 37 but they say she is in good health and she is pregnant. She does have a pup in her right now. Were hoping when she feels comfortable on the beach with the other animals, this is where shell stay and give birth. Elephant seals send to give birth in december or january. They named her after the creek she was swimming in. Thank goodness shes okay. They were trying to get her to swim and the tide was out and it was all this mud. It was a dramatic scene out there. It was. But shes good. They release a lot of elephant seals at that colony. Many people have this week off and movie theaters will be getting busy. No particular order but bridge of spies, loved it. As soon as it begins, you feel like youre in the right movie. The kind of meticulousness about the construction of the film, a story about a lawyer whos been hired to represent a russian spy that was just captured. And as the story unfolds, the russian spy is traded for a downed american fighter. True story . Its an original screen play. I like that because i feel like theres never enough screen plays. Tom hanks, very sympathetic. His performance is one of the ways the spectator can have access to the film. What else do you like . The martian, its playing right now. Im surprised its still playing. I havent heard a lot of people talking about it. Looks like armageddon to me. Its set in the future, about a mars mission that went wrong. Matt damons character is left stranded on mars. So he survives on mars and communicates through all these ingenius ways and finally is rescued at the end of the film. Spoiled it a little bit. Spoiler alert. What i like about this is the process of him communicating and finally getting back. Theres something very interesting about all these tenuous processes by which he communicates with nasa. And good story telling. It is, yes. Whats on the top five list thats maybe a surprise to people or has been very quiet . I think bridge of spies is the one. What about creed . Creed, yes. Its been appearing on a number of critics lists. Because a sequel, you never know. But im hearing from friends it was great. This year has been like others in the past have been, theres been a number of reboots and sequels. Creed is basically a sequel to rocky. Very satisfying in terms of its use of action, the camera. Theres the first time creed goes into a fight and its all done one take, so its amazing how the camera is able to weave in and out of these two people boxing together. One of the movies i think i would most like to see on the list is spotlight. You know, its folks that work in the news business. Its about tenacious reporters at the boston globe who uncovered sexual abuse within the catholic church. How well done is that movie . I think the importance of this film, its set in 2001, right at the time when the media and internet were putting newspapers under threat. So theres a kind of paranoid motivation on the part of the reporters to really get at the truth and make sure theyre doing to right thing. So you see as the film unfolds, theres this kind of moral quandary they go through. Its a tricky subject and its boston, half the population there is catholic. Well told. Before we let you go, i was surprised you didnt have star wars on the list. Why not . Yeah, whats up . Well, the one movie i didnt see. Yeah. So, it was a little bit incomplete for me. You know, some of the characters were not filled in. Of course its a sequel, keep that in mind. Theres a full experience. It still left a lot of open questions. I think star wars is one that every family should go out and see. These are more kind of adult. I can agree with you a little bit. But my 5yearold thought it was amazing and that was the first film he cried in. He shed a tear in that one. A lot of people cried. Lets talk about the films still in the theaters. Someone inside took this cell phone video of the fire. It forced the mall to be evacuated on monday and nobody was hurt. A Security Guard used a fire extinguisher to put it out and the Consumer Product Safety Commission is investigating 22 hoverboard fires in 17 states. What do you think about that . Amazing.
