Getting to the bay bridge toll plaza it is definitely lighter than usual and looking at the contra costa commute slowing on highway 4 otherwise we are looking good. Police say the car was stolen on 64th avenue the child was found a couple blocks away on 66. Suspects were also found in custody the area now they are in custody. A little bit sticky going northbound to downtown causing a bit of a backup on 880 which takes a while to unwind. Happily we have a nice alternate route which is 580 very light on the macarthur freeway through the lakeshore curb and at the bay bridge toll plaza we have a very light commute. You will enjoy this if you have to move to San Francisco. We are looking at highway for a little bit of slow traffic and 680 up to 24 looks good. We have backed this thing up not a lot of red. Just the way we like it. We have a lot of gray lets bring steve in with the overcast skies. There is a lot of gray going around it has been that kind of pattern this week stuck in the temperatures even in the valley. A lot of gray with local drizzle so there is plenty of fog so temperatures are near average. A large Law Enforcement crackdown this week in the bay area led to the greatest number of arrests in atf history. Agents conducted a series of raids arresting 75 people mostly in San Francisco and daly city. The operation was called cold day and involved 1000 officers many of them working undercover. These offenders engage in a wide range of criminal activity to include firearms and narcotics trafficking, auto theft and burglaries. Agents recovered more than 48 stolen cars and all, 90 firearms and drugs. Disturbing details involving a san mateo preschool teacher arrested for taking lewd photos of young student. The 33yearold was arrested in april he had been a teacher at Saint Matthews episcopal day school. He held private photo sessions with at least five students some just five years old posing the girls provocatively. The parents of two of the students plan to sue the school. For that to be the case at a prestigious private school that charges 30,000 tuition is mind boggling. The school released a statement saying Saint Matthews episcopal remains absolutely committed to providing a safe caring community. Yvette felarca is an organizer for an activist group and a judge has continued the case. Investigators have determined a portable generator caused a big fire in the Santa Cruz Mountains last year. The generator was found at a marijuana grow. Officials say it started the fire that burned 4400 acres and destroyed 12 homes in september. I think you know the forecast it is foggy here and some areas like the san mateo coast it has been one week without any sunshine. The sonoma coast most of the marin coast the sun comes back and forth but the outside land looking foggy cool and drizzly in the 50s and 60s so layers would be a good idea. Today the pickup happens, joining us is Joel Mitchell from sacred Heart Community services. Walk us through what is happening as we can see these people walking around. When people came last month they were given a time for today so they are lining up by appointment time and when it is their time our volunteers guide them to the building we will register them and they will be hooked up with a volunteer to shop for a backpack so we have the backpacks set up and when they pick them out. What grades . Kindergarten, first through sixth and seventh through 12th and then they pick up supplies afterward. So the supplies dont come in the backpack . Right they are prepackaged they just pick up a backpack we have all different kinds and then they get their School Supplies. So there are other Services Also offer . We have the Afterschool Academy and parents of Preschoolers Program so we have ongoing Education Programs. Today we are trying to get kids ready. We want them to be ready for school. How big of a help is this for the parents . It is a huge help because rent is so expensive it leaves less for School Supplies and the average cost of a backpack is 75 and then we have School Supplies with fees for other things so when you are struggling to pay rent there is nothing left so this fills the gap. This is an Amazing Community of volunteers and donors making the program happened. It is our 15th year. I guess you are on track for another year next year . Definitely this is one of my favorite things we do.
