Looking down the belmont, redwood city and palo alto, traffic is okay driving through with no problems on the dumbarton bridge for the san mateo bridge crossing onto highway 101. Slow traffic on castor valley approaching 238 which is not typical but 880 looking pretty good south from hayward into union city. On highway 4 we have the traditional slow down from the bay point in the concord with 680 slowing down through pleasant hill. Heres a live look at highway 24 westbound driving to the tunnel and through lafayette looking pretty good. Here is highway 8 80 and we had the earlier backup but things are improving on 880 south. It is 6 02 am. We are following of developing story and Mendocino County were the wildfire is forcing evacuations. It started at 3 pm yesterday afternoon near Redwood Valley on highway 101. Cal fire says the fire has burned at least 900 acres and is only 10 contained. The people that live in the baker Creek Subdivision of Redwood Valley were evacuated as a precaution. No homes or buildings have burned and no injuries. The cause is under investigation but there are reports it may have been started by car fire that spread to the nearby grass. It is 6 03 am. In moraga repair work is supposed to begin on that big sinkhole that opened up over a year ago and allie rasmus is in moraga and that same sinkhole is causing problems and has been for 16 months. Reporter almost a year and a half it has been a permanent fixture for the people that live in the town of broga. The work moraga. The work is scheduled to begin on this 130 foot wide sinkhole. We saw the construction foreman out here and they said about 6 30 am they will start the work. This is what we are talking about, this sinkhole that put the town of moraga into a financial hold. This sinkhole opened up in the middle of the boulevard and has been here ever since and the town will pay 1. 3 million to the contractor to make the repairs. A big part of the money is coming from the town reserves. That is prompted city leaders earlier to declare a fiscal emergency for the town of moraga. That fiscal Emergency Declaration means moraga can take steps to put revenue raising measures on the ballot without waiting on an election year. The construction should begin this morning. There are signs out in front of the area at center road to let people know that the road will be closed completely to the drivers while the construction work begins. One hour from now the repair work is due to begin on the main road that connects another rural east Bay Community with everyone else and the long section of the Morgan Territory road near clayton washed away during the heavy storms last february. People that live west of the slide have only had partial access to the road since may and now they are losing that. Many people that travel that way are frustrated. It is a nightmare. My daughter has had three seizures with epilepsy and i could not get to her. It is a 40 minute walk each way in the morning and at night and you have to carry in your groceries. A sixmonthold baby girl that was kidnapped in San Francisco is back safe this morning thanks to the help of the muni bus driver. A woman snatched the baby from the car of the father around 9 am yesterday morning. The father left the child in the car parked on sherman street while preparing a bottle for her nearby. The woman got on the muni bus with the baby and the police put out a citywide alert. The bus driver saw them and called the police, the suspect was arrested and the baby was reunited with the parents unharmed. They are investigating whether there was a relationship between the suspect and the family. A collision involving a wrongway driver and eastern Contra Costa County saturday night in the driver slammed into a minivan killing seven people in brentwood. The 61yearold woman that was a passenger in the minivan had serious injuries but is expected to survive. The oneyearold girl was airlifted to the Childrens Hospital in oakland as a precaution. The passenger in the car was badly hurt and airlifted to the hospital in dublin. The driver of the car has minor injuries and is now in the contra costa jail for felony dui, driving a stolen car and driving without a license or insurance. Nine people died saturday and arizona in a flash flood including five children. Another person from the same group is still missing. This happened saturday at the Swimming Hole in the Tonto National forest in central arizona. Heavy rain causing the floodwaters to rush into the swimming area sweeping the victims down the river, among 14 family members and friends gathering for a day trip. One witness said it all happened very fast. The water came and when it did it instantly was up to your waist within a matter of seconds. The search for the person still missing this morning using search dogs and a helicopter is expected to resume this morning. We have updates on the fires in Santa Barbara county, Governor Brown has declared a state of emergency for damages caused by the alamo and Whittier Fires. The alamo fire has burned almost 29,000 acres since july 6 destroying one home and another building, 98 contained. The cause of the fire is still being investigated. Firefighters are making progress on the Whittier Fire but dealing with hot and dry conditions. The fire began on july 8 along highway 1 54 at the lake at yuma area and has grown to over lake cachuma area and has grown to over thousands of acres. The big daddy Apartment Building fire in honolulu, the residents said they could not hear the fire alarms. The fire killed three and injured 12 others. The fire began on the 26 floor of the building that did not have sprinklers because it was built in 1971 before sprinklers were mandatory and highrises. One man that went back to the burnedout building told us what he saw. I was going floor by floor down from 33, and the paint is beginning to feel away. When we got to 28, it will be like a war zone, completely burned out. Fire officials are still investigating the cause of the fire. The Santa Clara County sheriffs deputies ever covered the body of a man that drowned while rescuing his son from the south bay pond, and the family including four adults and eight children were playing in a pond outside of morgan hill. One boy went into far into the water and his father went in to get him. He saved the boy but was struggling and could not get back to shore himself. I would not wish that on anybody. I would never think it would be that dangerous out there. You want to keep an eye on your children in any water, and in this instance it appeared to be quite calm water but got deeper unexpectedly. There is a gate keep the cars away from the pond and neighbors say that the family lives at the nearby ranch and probably just walked to the creek. The Sheriffs Office is not released the name of the man that drowned. The bark is increasing clipper card used for the station and scripting Christien Kafton is there to look at the problem and the proposal to fix it. Reporter lets show you what bart is showing off today. These are the new pay gate entrances and as you take a look you can see it reads clearly on the front, clipper only. They are trying to get more people to use the clipper cards and right now 68 of the bart riders use clipper cards and they want more people to use them saying the old paper cards have a tendency to jam more and they cost more as well. Theyre trying to encourage more people to use the clipper card system to enter the bart system and to ride the rails when they go on their morning and evening commutes. One other thing they are trying to do is to reduce the amount of the pay gate, these glass partitions are higher than the general bart barriers because they are trying to see if they can reduce the number of fair evasions. That caused bart anywhere from 15 million 25 million a year. They are trying to do what they can to get as many people as possible to pay the fair they are supposed to and frequently they have people tailgating following someone threw the pay gates, jumping the turnstiles or jumping over the barriers on either side of the pay gates. That is another Pilot Program they are rolling out. Rebecca, the bart board president , is here this morning to tell us more about this program.
