Reporter good morning. We have chp out here and within 10 minutes they may be opening another lane on the westbound lanes of interstate 80. This has been closed since 4 am with all lanes closed. The traffic has been diverted off of el portal drive. The accident happened just after 4 am when one car hit the Center Divide and that car was disabled, blocking one lane. The second vehicle crashed into the disabled car and chp has confirmed that one person is dead. There is a possibility that the driver of the first disabled car was outside of his vehicle when he was killed and that is under investigation. We did see the coroner out here earlier. There were two people in the second vehicle that were taken to the hospital but chp said they are expected to survive. They hope all lanes will be back open no later than 6 30 am. Reporter the lanes are back open and you are taking a look above i80 right now, and all of the westbound lanes are reopened and opened about 20 minutes ago. This is an investigation into a fatal crash. For three hours all lanes heading west were blocked with traffic diverted off of el portal drive. The accident happened just after 4 am and it began when one car hit the Center Divide. That car was disabled and blocked one lane, and the second vehicle came up and crashed into that disabled vehicle. Chp has confirmed one person is dead and there is a possibility that the driver of the first car was outside of his vehicle when he was killed. That is still under investigation. The lanes have reopened and we know that two people were in the second vehicle that was involved in the crash and those people were taken to the hospital but chp said they are expected to survive.
