New this morning in oakland one person was stabbed just hours ago, another was hurt. Police spent hours at the crime scene and are now wrapping up their work there. One man dead, another man hurt. Its all happening near the intersection of 78th avenue. We have video shot overnight. Investigators said that one of the victims managed to run from a home on 78th avenue where he collapsed then at the intersection of 78th and mcarthur. Police say one man died. Police say they were a man and a woman attackers. Police arent say figure they are under arrest but they say there is no ongoing threat to the Wider Community. The boulevard was closed to traffic for four hours while investigated. At this point in time police are asking anyone with information about this incident to contact them. Again the overnight stabbing happening at 78th avenue and mcarthur. Another man hurt. At this point investigators are saying that the suspects, one man, one woman, not confirms if they are under arrest but they say they dont believe there is an ongoing threat to the Wider Community in that area. Some ups workers having a hard time dealing wednesday a shooting that left four employees dead including the gunman. A ups employee told us that many are calling out sick because they are frightened grief stricken. There is a memorial for the attack happened. Sources say the gunman jimmy lam shot and killed benson louis first, next wayne chan followed by two drivers who were shot but survived. He then went outside and killed the third victim. Kind of rough for us. Its like being in that type of situation and then seeing people that you work with on a daily basis and then they are gone. The three victims being remembered as friendly and dedicated worker who gave back to the community. Benson louis was a popular coach. A group of his players went to the warehouse memorial yesterday to honor him. We still dont know the motive for the ups shootings but we are learning more about the gunman jimmy lam. According to one driver he had depression. He had been sad in the weeks leading up to the shooting. That same colleague said that lam was involved in a dispute with an exgirlfriend about visitation rights for their child. Public records show they was arrested at least twice for dui. A colleague said at the time lam was not a ups driver. He was loading and unloading packages. Happening today two men charged in connection with oaklands deadly ghost ship warehouse fire are due in court. Later today the two may enter pleas. Both are facing 36 counts of manslaughter. One count for each person who died in the fire. One was the main tenant. The others accused of helping him sublet the space. After an investigation both were arrested last week. Each is being held on a Million Dollars bail. They could get up to 39 years. Many warrior fans yesterdays victory parade for the champions is something that they will never forget. The jury in the cosby trial will work for a 5th day today after the judge told them to keep working through a deadlock. Yesterday the three teenagers stole police cars and led police on two pursuits ending in crashes. Police say the three were part of a program for young people who wanted to be police officers. A man in michigan is now free after spending more than 40 years in jail for a murder he didnt commit. He was convicted in 1975 based on what is now being called very flimsy evidence. A single hair. He was convicted of first degree murder in a shooting and was sentenced to life. At his trial an fbi expert testified that a hair found on the victim could have come from him. Experts and prosecutors now agree that the testing methods in the 70s were flawed nowhere near as accurate as they are today. This really surreal. Its kind of unbelievable. Im feeling great. Late yesterday state lawmakers approved the budget for the next fiscal year. It gives more money to schools, it also expands a tax credit for low income workers. It settles the dispute over how to spend more than a billion dollars into bako tax revenue. Most of that money will go to doctors, dentists and others who provide publicly funded health care. 45 million in the state budget will go toward helping undocumented immigrants who are facing deportation. According to la time itself will be used to expand Legal Defense services in response to the Trump Administrations tough immigration policies. The paper said that the budget will preserve money for a separate program that gives legal help to undocumented children who arrive in the United States alone. Immigration program to protect parents of United States citizen children from being departed has been canceled. Homeland security general revoked the policy memo from obama that created the deferred action for parents of americans program. It was intended to keep immigrant parents safe from being deported and also provide them with a work permit. It was never launched fully and was blocked by a federal judge in texas after 26 states filed lawsuits. Republicans fought the effort calling it a back door amnesty. They argued that the president over stepped his authority. The Trump Administration is backing off its threat to revoke californias power to set its own pollution standards. They are have become an important tool for california to fight climate change. Early their year the chief suggested that the white house may try to weaken or even revoke that authority. Now he has assured lawmakers that the epa is not looking to take away the power that california has used for years to reduce emissions. Reporter 54yearold lee bell was convicted in San Francisco on thursday of first degree murder for killing his girlfriend. Her badly beaten, naked body was found inside a suitcase in the bay. Surveillance showed bell retrieving his suitcase a day earlier. Louiss daughter said she is still hurting but hopes her mothers murder will raise awareness so that others in similar situations will seek help before its to late. Domestic violence is very serious. It does escalate and can escalate to something as serious as this tragedy we are going through and that i would never wish on any family. The message i want to make really clear is that this was a preventable incident. We all need to take responsibility, collectively ly as a community for these cases. We did have a short period, 44 months without any Domestic Violence homicides. We know it can be done. The patented technology could be put into ia stores wifi network. The ama sop ceo is trying to figure out what to do with his money. Some suggestions have been providing money for early housing. Some suggested that he pay off Student Loans or medical bills. He of course one of the richest people in the world. The fda approved a new and cheaper rival to the epi pen. The san diego based company has a product called simjeppa. It can save someones life when they are having an allergic reaction. While there is no word on the cost they are seen as a low cost alternative to the epi pen. Itll be available later this year. The company that makes the epi pen was criticized for raising its price from about 100 to 600 last year. G. Facebook ceo and his wife are helping bay area teachers buy a house. The initiative is giving 5 million to a local start up called landed. That partnership will help teachers come up with a down payment to buy a home in three County School districts. Redwood city, sequoia and ravens wood. Landed will pay as much as half of the down payment up to a certain point. The superintendent of the School District said that many teachers, many administrators have been leaving the bay area to find more affordable housing. Administrators who move to the Central Valley or other parts of the state because they are ready to start families and they cant find a home here. Its hard to keep people. Its not the silver bullet. This partnership is not the end of the housing crisis. There is a lot of opportunity here. Under the Program Teachers would pay back the down payment and part of the homes appreciation if they sell the house.
