A sweater is good. Nice and sunny, warmer weather, 40s for the lows, 70s and a lot of low 80s. San jose going 81, 7352 is the average, not recordsetting territory. 91 degrees back in 1991. On the coast, parts of the Santa Cruz Mountains and san mateo coast, fog with us tomorrow, and today falling short. 40s and 50s, cool for some and not bad for others, 44 near napa, 47 in petaluma. Sunshine and warmer temperatures, but big changes for the weekend, more coming up. Enjoy the sunshine today, 70s and low 80s. It is 6 01 am. It is getting busier, and we could see residual delays from earlier problems on bart. They are getting back on track. There could be a little bit. I love the bart getting into the city because you can bypass the bay bridge traffic. There is awake at the toll plaza, 15 minutes. A weight at the wait at the toll plaza, 15 minutes. Lets look at 880 southbound, slow traffic, an accident between 92 and tennyson road, traffic backing up all the way out to the marina exit, quite the delay southbound 880 due to that crash. It took out two lanes, and when they clear and we will see some improvement. Its already slow and if you happen to get on the freeway at union city, you will bypass this and your commute should be fine into fremont. Looking at northbound 80, looking good. It is 6 03 am. New this morning, the San Francisco fire investigators are looking for the cause of the overnight fire that forced seven people out of their homes. This was in the Castro District just off of Market Street. And you are saying that the battalion chief said it couldve been worse . Reporter absolutely. I apologize for the noise, the pg e crew using a jackhammer to get to the gas main. That is one of the challenges presented to the fire crews, and when the crews arrived, the gas main next to the home where the garage doors open, the gas main under need it ruptured, fueling the flames of the fire up through the walls of the building, and it spread to the buildings on either side. All of the residents got out safely, five adults and two kids will now have to find a new home to stay in. This was a 4alarm fire meaning they had as many as 14 engines and crews out here. Market street was shut down overnight due to the firefighters battling the flames. We do not know what caused the fire but they have some clues. The first people that reported the fire thought they heard an explosion before the fire, and it traveled very fast. Reporter that may have had something to do with the ruptured gas line. They dont know whether it ruptured before the fire started or after the fire had began. Another challenge was the fact that these are older homes, and they were built in the early 1900s or earlier, meaning there are no fire stops between the floors, allowing the fire to spread from each floor to the next floor, and that is no longer allowed now. But 100 years ago that was not part of the equation when building these homes. Between that and the ruptured gas lines of fueling the flames, they said they are fortunate the number of the residents were injured. Three firefighters were injured while battling the fire and one had a broken arm. They are out here to keeping an eye on things to make sure the fire does not flare up again. The residents are gone, and that noise is the crew trying to get part of the gas line repaired that ruptured. I know that you did say Market Street was open in the Castro District. Market street is open. Reporter now that they have the fire crew on standby, Market Street is down to one lane in each direction. The reaction is pouring in following the final debate between Hillary Clinton and donald trump, going at each other on a variety of topics, and some of the big moments. Reporter the final president ial debate in las vegas hitting hard on the issues focusing on the most important differences between the candidates. I will tell you at the timing keep you insist events. Reporter donald trump refused to say whether he will concede if he loses the election. This is part of is severed to blame somebody else for his campaign. Reporter the Trump Campaign says they are trying to prevent voter fraud. Democrats say the moment defines the debate. All the headlines tomorrow will be about how he will not proceed unless he feels the elections are going the way it should go. Reporter and talking about clinton taking money from countries with questionable human rights records. I would be happy to compare with what we do with the clinton foundation, taking money and purchasing a 6 foot portrait of donald trump, who does that . Dont blame me for the wall, i dont want to deport people, obama deported people, saying that he did not help in the general collection. They both played to the bases, not resetting the race. Reporter the home stretch, and less than three weeks before election day. Joining us in the studio now are our political analyst, and what is the take away from last night . Let me start by saying something nice for both of these candidates, and i had been through these debates before, but that was for a local race. These people have been at this for longer than that, and he is 70, and she is 68. At this point in the campaign when you can almost see the finish line, but the die is cast, you feel a wariness, you are so exhausted when you close your eyes that your eyes hurt. Youre not sleeping much, hitting the wrong kind of food and living in airplanes. It is a difficult existence. I respect anybody, even if i do not agree with their politics that puts themselves in this arena and goes through the public and media scrutiny that they go through, and to have body blows against each other. To still be standing at the end of this, anybody that puts themselves through this has to have their head examined. Its a grueling process, governing by comparison is much easier than running. Yes, and then you had to do the job after running. But all of the stuff known about you, the criticism is already out there so you can go about your job. There is a lot of stress, and i respect that they would do this to themselves, and want the job that badly, and hopefully love this country that much. I did not think the debate taught us anything new about either of them. There were moments in the debate that probably increased the divide between mr. Trump and the female voters in this country. I thought the strongest moment for mrs. Clinton i think she was probably better last night than he was with voter perception. Her unqualified defense of abortion rights, making the case for most women in the country. If you look at the voting polls on that, the public position on abortion in this country, his position is a minority position. She was making that clear, and that is a policy issue that will reinforce the position of solidarity for the women voters for Hillary Clinton. One of the comments made last night that is been talked about quite a bit is him calling her a nasty woman. Im seeing a lot of rhetoric, and people are surprised that he can say all of these things, and there are recordings about women, yet a lot of women are voting for him, and it seems like its because they do not have confidence in a woman being president. That is a polite way to say or they this early dislike her, and its a blend. She knew coming into the race she had high negatives not only with the women but also with the men. The surprising part, assuming that women will stand together on many issues, that so many women are critical of her. We have gone back and forth in the analysis of this, and whether there is an unconscious gender bias on the part of boaters, even women having gender bias, holding her to a standard that they are not holding him to. At the end of this, she will not get all of those votes. By contrast with mr. Trump, in order to have won this and to have an opportunity to move forward to win this, he is effective at talking about what was wrong last night, including with her. But he did not offer an alternative solution. If all we know at the end of this debate is someone that is critical of the system and the opponent, you have not advanced the candidacy but just slowed the other persons candidacy. Mrs. Clinton was still talking about solutions in a detail that he was not, and also presenting a smile every once in a while, and a hopeful position. I think that is what the voters want to hear. There will be another appearance tonight in the charity gala. You could watch the last night debate in its entirety on our website, ktvu. Com. It is 6 12 am. A town hall meeting tonight talking about the last friday incident where the San FranciscoPolice Officer was critically wounded. Other officers eventually tracked down and shot the suspect, nicholas mcwhirter, who later died from his injuries. They say he was deeply religious, suffered from Mental Illness and had lost his way, and they say he was acting erratically and shot at the police when they tried to talk to him. Officer kevin downs suffering paralysis on one side of his body after being shot in the head. The town hall meeting on 19th avenue at 6 00 tonight. Welcome back to mornings on 2. Breaking news just coming in, Oakland Police say they have arrested one of their own officers. The Police Department is not telling us the name of the officer or the charges, and Authorities Say that the Police Department criminal Investigation Division commander along with investigators arrested the oakland officer yesterday on suspicion of criminal activity. The kreis will be sent to the Alameda County das office for review. Not the news that the raiders fans want to hear, owner mark davis is committed to making the deal to move the team to las vegas, making his first presentation to the nfl owners in houston, giving them the update on the process to build the 1. 9 billion stadium, and the governor of nevada signed a bill to raise the hotel tax to pay for the stadium. It is unfair for people to keep bringing up what if oakland does this or that. Las vegas has already done what they are supposed to do and we just have to get the approval to move to las vegas. Davis said he does not have a timetable for the move, 24 out of the 32 owners must vote to approve the move, expected sometime next year. The oakland mayor libby schaaf said that the city will not be thrown off of our game by what is happening in nevada. While i am committed to keeping the raiders, i will not into a bidding war with nevada using public funds, and i will focus on working out concrete deal terms to give the owners and the oakland options to consider. A lot going on this morning. We still have a problem in hayward where they are clearing the accident on southbound 880 and the traffic is busy. There was an earlier back up, and it will take a little bit to unwind on south about southbound 880. If you happen to be getting on the freeway after tennyson road, it will be much better. The backup is pretty severe already as we drive out Marina Boulevard heading south toward tennyson. I want to mention there is a backup at the bay bridge, backed up to the maccarthur maze, and it does not too bad with a 15 to 20 minute delay. We believe there is a fundamental problem that is unique to the samsung phones. We believe they have dangerous lithiumion batteries in the phones that have a potential for explosion, and they did not have adequate safety precautions in place. The galaxy note 7 is currently banned from all u. S. Flights, and they say that if other samsung phones have similar problems they should be banned from the planes as well.
