More people would use 580 and southbound on winton a crash, and a rough start on the east day. Thisis the san mateo bridge, okay heading to the peninsula, and that is okay so far. The bay bridge metering lights came on early this morning, traffic backed up to the maze already. 6 02 am. Developing stories into east bay, Investigation Underway into what caused the ace train to derail. The Allegheny County Sheriff Department said that the investigator suspects the train went off of the track after hitting the debris from the mudslide. Talking with the investigators, the train was carrying 214 passengers, nine people taken to the hospital with four suffering critical injuries. It was heading from san jose to stockton when it derailed in the niles canyon around 7 35 pm last night. The first car rolled over into the creek, and the passengers from t other cars rush to them to provide help. We opened up the side door in we could see the number one car lying on its side. We got out on the other side, and went down to help them out of that car. The ace Train Services are canceled today, and commuters will have to find an alternate mode of transportation. This will make for a busier commute, and the ace train runs from stockton to stand san jose, making eight stops, carrying more than 1 million passengers every year. The San Jose Police department is investigating a incident that involved an officer shooting and killing the stabbing suspect, for sports reports of a stabbing at 6 15 pm, and when the officer arrived, he saw the suspect and the stabbing victims outside of the home. The officer said he fired his gun because the suspect was Still Holding the knife and the neighbors heard several shots. We heard five or six shots, thats all we know. Very shocking, and i have never seen anything like this here. The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene, and the stabbing victims are listed in critical but stable condition. The Justice Department is holding another listening session on police conduct, part of the review requested by the police chief and the San Francisco mayor ed lee, a reaction from the killing of margot woods in bayview last december. This is under the direction of attorney general loretta lynch, and tonight the session at the high school is the second one in the series. They are doing a voluntary assessment of the San Francisco Police Policies and procedures. After the process, they will make recommendations on the changes they believe need to be made. The San Francisco sheriffs deputy fire due to the ties to the former chinatown gang leader raymond chow who was recently convicted on 162 counts, including racketeering and involvement in the murder. According to the examiner, the sergeant was fired as an fbi investigation continues. It says that the Court Filings show that sergeant kim was once in the gang that was linked to chow and had ties to one of chows closest friends, and the fbi has not confirmed or denied the investigation. And some say that the homeless situation in San Francisco is a crisis. The supervisor says he is tired of waiting around waiting for more shelters to open. And looking at the Mission District in San Francisco. Reporter we are talking about the supervisor david campos, and he is proposing that the homeless situation, enough is enough. They are wanting more Navigation Centers, and what they are hoping to accomplish is to hope that more of these open up. He wants to introduce legislation during the supervisor meeting tonight, requiring for the mayor to declare a shelter crisis, and also require that the mayor open Six Navigation Centers within the next year. The mayor toward the center last week, and these Navigation Centers can take in the entire homeless encampment for 75 people and their pets, and not just a roof over their head, but also to provide substance treatment or a bus ticket back home. They have identified about one dozen sites, but it remains unclear worthy sites are or where the money would the coming from. And the same chef what the supervisor is proposing. And remember that niles canyon road is closed for commute between 680 and mission road. All of the crews are there, and they need the niles canyon road to clean that derailment, so a smoke a slow commute. The Russian River north is what im concerned about, they could get a lot of rain, and other areas not getting much rain at all. The creeks are already creeping up. Yes, and this set up, with this storm system, and another system stalling out, and it looks to be stalling in the north day. We had that Train Derailment, the altamont commuter express train derailed yesterday some injured and no one killed, but the Train Service will not be running today. We do have a report coming up, and more people on 580 and 680 this morning. The niles canyon road is shut down between the 680 interchange almost 2 mission. And that is not a commute road this morning because the crews are using the road near the derailment, niles canyon road, stay on 680, or use 582 to 38. Its all busy. Taking a look at 280 northbound, not bad from downtown san jose. On the bay bridge, we have an early back up to the maze with metering lights on. More now on the developing story out of alameda county. Nine people were injured after a train with 214 passengers derailed. You are looking at the pictures, and the preliminary investigation indicates a mudslide, recent storms may have led to the derailment. This sent the first real car into the alameda creek, and Authorities Say it is a miracle that everybody survived. They are working with local investigators to confirm the preliminary findings. The ace train number 10 had 214 passengers going from san jose to stockton. The nine passengers were taken to several hospitals, and at Washington Hospital in fremont, and son of the riders were taken there, and what do we know about their condition . Two male patients, one released last night and the other in good condition. I was just on the phone with the eden hospital, and we are told there is a female patient their inner 50s in stable condition. In her 50s is in stable condition. We have nine people injured, at least four were seriously hurt. Many are sitting in the first train car that were jolted suddenly by the brakes. The window started breaking, and the dirt and water started coming into the car. Those that were not injured were taken to the alameda fairgrounds where they were reunited with their family members, and when person help to rescue those stuck in the first car. There were probably about 20 in the first car, and the engineer was actually in the water and had to get out through the water. There was one woman pinned in the car for little bit, but they dug her out and put her in a safe place and to the paramedics could arrive. Reporter firefighters and emergency crews were able to get all 204 two people out of the train safely, and the Authorities Say it was a miracle that no one was killed. They said the agency is committed to getting to the bottom of this, and they will make sure that all of the passengers stay informed. Thank you for that update. Crews back in pacifica getting ready for the demolition of the second Apartment Building on the eroding cliffside. The chain link fence is now up around the complex at 320 esplanade and they will be checking for asbestos today. On thursday, escalators will tear down the building. The complex was red tagged in 2010 after a part of the cliffside gave way. The city Officials Say that once the building is torn down, they will need to shore up the cliff and protect the utilities that run under the street. We are interested in what will happen to the streets. That is the asset that we want to protect because the street carries all of the utilities for all of the apartments and houses, and businesses in that area. We are focusing on how to protect the streets. The demolition will take 4 to 5 days, and another red tagged building next to 320 esplanade was torn down last month. A third building yellow tag in january and most likely will also be torn down. Water managers releasing water from the folsom lake as more runoff flows into the lake, and the gates were opened yesterday for the first time in five years. The sacramento and it Sacramento Bee reports that this is controversial and they believe they should keep more of the water, that they want to guard against flooding during the winter. In the galt county, fire crews use both to reach boat to reach the car stranded in about 3 feet of water, and the roads flooded. It appears the driver of the car tried to go through the water and got stuck. The time is 6 40 am. One Building Owner wants to know more about what caused a roof to partially collapsed after just being replaced last summer. The firefighters say that the heavy rain led to the roof collapsed, but they think the water may not have been draining properly. No one was injured, but one of the Business Owners has been concerned about the leaks in the roof. Its very scary because the landlord is supposed to make sure that the roof is safe. The police are looking for this man, 29yearold Danielle Morris who hit the boy while he was walking with his family to school. While the boy bent down to look at someone arms, the car came racing bite and hit him, pinning his leg under the car. He was rushed to the Childrens Hospital in oakland, and the boys eightyearold brother suffered mind your injuries minor injuries. The driver left the scene running away, and that was one of five vehicle stolen overnight. The police in concord are investigating a shooting involving several vehicles. Around 8 30 pm, the police checked on reports of gunshots. On diamond boulevard near the hilton hotel, they found evidence of the shooting, between two cars, one vehicle was abandoned. Highway 580, more people on the Altamont Pass due to the ace train. 680 is very slow from the dublin interchange heading to fremont. And the niles canyon road remains closed due to that derailment, and they will not open that portion for the morning commute. 6 48 am. And we have that same problem. A big scrape on side of the police headquarters, a car ran into the building last night. The driver was heading down seventh street and the car sideswiped another vehicle that been barreled into the role of parked cars along the police station. It also left a large scrape near the entrance of the building. The police told the news crew that no one was injured, but they dont know if anyone was cited for the crash or who will pay for the damage.
