Also this morning, president obama will host french president Francois Hollande at the white house. This is the first facetoface meeting between the two World Leaders since the paris attacks 11 days ago. They have spoken on the phone several times, but they will discuss increasing International Efforts to target isis. That man convicted of fatally stabbing a teenager in 2008 is now accused of hiding out some of the terrorists who pulled of the paris attacks. The landlord is expected to become the first person in france to possibly face terrorism charges connected to those attacks 11 days ago. In the meantime, investigators trying to confirm whether an object found in a garbage can in a paris suburb is a suicide vest like the ones worn by the terrorists in the paris attacks. Several news agency is reporting that object contained explosives and bolts, but no detonator. If it is a suicide vest, investigators want to know if he belonged to a to a terror suspect who is still on the run. The belgian capital remains on high alert this morning. But in an effort to get back to normal, the schools and the metro system will reopen tomorrow. Americans are being warned to be extra cautious as they travel this holiday season. Reporter the bay area, i dont know about the bay area overall but at least the people weve talked to at the airport this morning seem to have mixed reactions to it. The state Department Worldwide terror alert is supposed to be in effect until the end of february. The duration of the Holiday Travel period and beyond. Unless you are traveling specifically to the middle east, the alert is overall pretty vague and broad, simply warns people to be vigilant in public places, or when using transportation. And if possible, avoid large crowds or carved spots. Seems theres always some sort of terror alert around peak travel season. The holiday certainly isnt the first one weve heard about. The question is, though, are people paying more attention to this particular alert different events that happened in the past few weeks in paris, lebanon and other parts of the world . Military to get permission to resettle here in the United States. Hassan etemadi and his wife are raising their 2yearold daughter in hayward. He left afghanistan after working for seven years with the u. S. Military as an interpreter during the war. He is grateful he was able to get a special visa to come to the u. S. And now he works to make sure other afghan interpreters get the same opportunity. They deserve to come to the United States and they deserve to have a better opportunity. A cyclist in berkeley who was hit by a driver trying to get away from the police is recovering this morning from injuries. Police say they tried to pull over a car last night, but the driver sped away and then hit that cyclist on prince street and Martin Luther king way. Police say the driver kept going after hitting the cyclist before stopping a couple blocks away. Two women in the car were arrested. The was treated for injuries in the abdomen and the leg. Microsoft said it is not satisfied with the numbers of women in his workplace. Usa today reports on the latest diversity figures from the redmond, washington company. It says 83 of workers in technical jobs are mail. 17 are female. The company also says two thirds of its workers workforce is white. Asians make up a third, latinos just about 5 . Last night the owner talked to us about the restaurants opening week. A staple of the Bay Area Community paid them a visit. When Dianne Feinstein came in and hung some plaques on the wall, when she was supervisor, and the grand opening, she had lunch with us, and it was a fantastic memory there. A setback to a new law that requires utilities to come up with plans to protect power plants from terror attacks. That prompted new legislation ordering the state utilities to come up with improved security plans for power plants. According to the San Francisco chronicle, state lawmakers cut 5 million from the budget of the California Public Utilities Commission this year. According to the press democrat, the man was swimming out into the ocean to type with a friend, when he started to struggle. From what we understand, his friend pulled him back to shore but is too late. The mans name has not been released. He was hiking with friends in a rocky part of the park yesterday when he climbed outside a fenced area and slid partway down a cliff. A rescuer was lowered down to the boy, then the teenager was given a harness and safely lowered the rest of the way down. Authorities say he only suffered cuts and bruises and he was lucky he did not slide all the rest of the way down. Tesla motors has set the price for the base models of its new x series of all electric cars. The topoftheline model, x signature series was unveiled in December September with a price tag of 132,000. This is a major, major event. This downing of a russian aircraft. Vladimir putin was quoted by the news agency as saying, we shall never tolerate crime like todays one. In this dramatic video, you can see what is reported to be the russian fighter jet in flames and plummeting to the ground after it was hit. It eventually crashes into a hillside followed by a black plume of smoke. Womans later, you can also see two parachutes emerge. This shootdown may quickly escalate on the world stage. Moments later. The main square remains quiet with heavily armed soldiers patrolling the city. At least four of the attackers had lived in belgium including the one who survived and has not yet been located. The belgian government says a serious and imminent Terror Threat remains and that brussels will remain on the highest alert level for at least another week. However, there are plans to reopen the subway and schools tomorrow. 6 35. Back here in the bay area, a rape was reported at San Francisco state university. Campus police say the person was unable to give consent but they didnt give details as to why that person was incapacitated. Police say it happened 3 00 saturday morning. That it happened inside mary ward whole, a sixstory six story doormat at the back of the campus with a 24 hour front desk attendant. A person reported the assault about three hours after it happened. Santa rosa Police Arrested a chiropractor after they say he touched a teenage girl inappropriately. Police say the doctor he goes by the first name of darius. The victim was his employee but also a patient as well. The Victim Told Police the doctor made her partially undress, and touched her. The doctor was directed Police Believe there may be other victims out there. An arrest has been made in connection with the shooting death of an artist working on a community merle, Antonio Ramos was shot to death back on september 29, standing on some scaffolding as he helped paint some antivitamins minerals under a freeway on west street. Witnesses say a man walking by tried to take some art supplies. There was a brief argument, then the witnesses say the man pulled out a gun and shot ramos. Police have not named the man arrested but they say they are glad he is off the streets. It was absolutely tragic. Somebody trying to do a positive thing in the community. Really very callous the way it went down. So the fact we were able to get that person off the street that committed that act is important. The chief says the District Attorney is reviewing the case, formal charges could be filed today. The time is 6 37. The family of a man shot and killed by police in minneapolis says its time to end an ongoing protest after five people were shot and wounded near the site last night. All are expected to survive. Police described the suspects as three white men demonstrators outside a Minneapolis Police station following the shooting of 24yearold jamar clark who is africanamerican, by police, nine days ago. Clark later died of his injuries. A White Chicago Police officer is expected to be charged with murder today for the Fatal Shooting of a black teenager. Officer Jason Van Dyke shot 17 yearold laquan mcdonald. Dash cam video is set to be released tomorrow. It shows mcdonald was armed with a small knife and was walking away when the officer officer started shooting. Witnesses say he kept shooting even after mcdonalds body hit the ground. Vandyke has been placed on duty they have already reached a settlement with mcdonalds family. The faa considering regulating drones before the holiday season. Over the weekend the faa released a report with proposed new regulations that would require Drone Operators to register a drone if it weighs more than a half pound. To register a drone, you would not have to be a citizen but youd have to be at least 13 years old. The rules havent been implemented yet, but some drone lovers are worried.
