When we came here we couldnt believe it, because this Lincoln Town Car split in half. The tow truck just arrived here. This is in the southbound lanes. You can see this car hit a tree and look, the airbag and the wheel there, thats on the passenger side. Not even on the drivers side. The other half of the car ended up still traveling, completely sheared off. You can see they loaded the other half of the car onto the tow truck. This happened right past 10 30 last night. This is what police are telling us so far, that basically two cars were at the intersection of pa say o padre parkway and sequoia. The witness behind them said the two cars started accelerating at a pretty high rate of speed, and thats why police think there was possibly some sort of race. We talked to a sergeant a short time ago. Heres what he had to say. Apparently we dont have that sound byte in there for you, but the sergeant was saying that the parkway typically the speed limit here is between 30 and 45 Miles Per Hour, but theyre estimating that this car was traveling at least 70 Miles Per Hour. The other car, the second car that was supposedly involved but not hit, the driver stopped, let his passengers out, and those passengers, nobody is admitting to any racing. But Police Suspect that might have happened just because based on the witness statements. Now the driver of this car is suffering from broken legs, broken arm, a broken clavicle. The southbound lanes are closed in this area, so avoid this area. Theyre hoping they can get this back open in the next 30 minutes or so by 5 30. Back to you. What a story. Well talk to you later.
