If youre driving from the car key nasa bridge, not a bad commute. Its nice and light. When you get to the bay bridge toll plaza, the traffic is also light. And were hoping today for a light friday. We can only hope. Well see what happens getting into San Francisco. So far, so good as you drive through the area. And were looking at the east bay commutes. Traffic on 80 looks good. And 680 is not bad to the walnut creek interchange and beyond. Theres a new report released by the Santa Clara Sheriffs Office shedding light into how many jail employees have been disciplined in recent years. Three were arrested for murder of an inmate last year. Janine de la vega is joining us live with more about the report. Reporter its a very interesting report. Ive taken a look at it. And it gives us a glimpse into what the deputies and civilian employees are accused of. And it ranges from driving under the influence to use of force to deputies cursing at inmates. Here is a breakdown of the numbers. If you can take a look at this. From 2010 to 2015 there were 83 sustained investigations involving jail deputies and civilian employees who worked at the jail where they found some misconduct. You can see the numbers low in 2015 compared to other years but thats because there are cases still pending like the three deputies who were arrested last year for the beating death of michael tyrie. There are others on administrative leave for the other misconduct that dont involve misuse of force. Of all the investigations, 27 were suspended and 23 were fired. There was some use of force, some driving under the influence, and some accused of having inappropriate relationships with inmates. All this information is going to be handed over to the blue ribbon commission, an Oversight Committee started late last year when all the controversy erupted. Prosecutors say he claimed he was going to visit his sick grandmother in turkey and went to syria instead. He used social media to tell others about the trip. And he talked about fighting with various factions. The u. S. Has designated that a terrorist organization. He allegedly bragged about using an assault weapon in a fire fight. And he lied when he returned to the u. S. And immigration officials asked what he did overseas. Federal authorities have also arrested a man in texas. That 24yearold man is accused of lying to federal authorities about associating with isis in 2014. The feds have not explained how the two arrests are connected. Insight was offered into how the two men were involved. A lot of would be terrorists like the glamour and the violence thats associated with it without perhaps thinking through the consequences of their actions. White house officials will meet with tech leaders in san jose to get a look at how terrorists use technology. They found bomb equipment, three belts to carry explosives, and traces of explosive residue. They also found a fingerprint of a fugitive wanted for paris attacks. Special forces believe it was rented under a false identity. The Associated Press has obtained cell phone video of yesterdays shooting outside a paris police station. Officers responded to a man holding a knife and threatening officers. Police eventually shot and killed him. He was wearing what turned out to be a fake suicide bomb vest. And he had a piece of paper with an isis flag on it. San joses second homicide of the year is under investigation right now. About 9 40 last night. Police were called about a shooting at pinto drive and lone bluff way near los lagos golf course. They found a man shot and pronounced dead at the scene. Police have no suspects and the investigation continues. New information this morning in the search for a man who San Jose Police say may have killed his father. Maxim zukov was arrested. New years day his father was reported missing. Tuesday, his fathers car was found with his body inside. San jose Police Believe the son had something to do with the fathers disappearance. They found evidence at the fathers home during a search. The state department of education launched an investigation into the Antioch School where a teachers aide was seen on video assaulting a 9yearold boy. We showed you the video and it was posted on social media showing the aide with the student. This is not the first time that tobin world has been in trouble. In august, certification was suspended for two campuses for failing to do proper background checks. The certification was resored restored just a few weeks ago. The teachers aide remains in jail, arrested on wednesday on child abuse charges. Happening today in San Francisco, the inauguration ceremony for mayor ed lees second term in office. A Nonprofit Group has transformed a dining hall into an Emergency Shelter to help protect the homeless during winter storms. Officials in San Francisco opened up the shelter last night. They are looking for volunteers to set up the space each night. The move comes a day after a report from the examiner revealed that San Francisco is not providing enough beds for the homeless. The mayor promised 1300 but only 75 additional beds were added. Are you taking care of things on highway 24. Right now we dont have anything unusual on 24. We can start there if you want. He was shot last month after stopping to deliver a generator at the oakland coliseum. The Security Guard wouldnt allow him to park inside the gates because there was a concert happening at this time. The guard told him to park nearby off coliseum property and come back in the morning. His wife said he parked nearby and went to sleep. Hours later he was awakened by the sound of someone breaking into the truck. The gunman fired a shot, hitting matson in the stomach. The team will go through and see what happened. A whole lot upset, yeah, yeah. This wouldnt have happened if hed been inside the gates. A board member with the coliseum says drivers are allowed to stay inside the gates. He has had three surgeries and hes recovering. Police in san leandro searching for a gunman who robbed a gas station last night at 7 30 at is chevron at washington and fargo avenues. No one was hurt and the man escaped with cash. Police searched that neighborhood with the help of Alameda County sheriffs deputy and did not find the suspect. He was wearing a black hoody. Police are working with the fbi to find this bank robber. This woman robbed the chase bank on fitzgerald drive before 6 00 wednesday night. She gave a teller a note, threatened to hurt people in the bank if her demands were not met. She never showed a weapon and got away with cash. Investigators describe the female suspect as being white, in her late 20s to early 30s and 56 tall and weighing about 180 pounds. The ntsb has released the preliminary investigation into the plane crash that killed a gilroy family near bakersfield last month. The pilot jason price was traveling from san jose to las vegas with his wife and three children. It appears there were several back and forth requests to change course because of Severe Weather ahead. Price took the plane higher and moments later he sent in two may day calls and the plane disappeared from radar. The plane was found hours later in an Almond Orchard 9 miles from bakersfield. A Philadelphia Police officer was shot pointblank as he was sitting in his police car. The gunman fired a dozen times hitting the officer three times in the arm. The officer fired back, injuring the suspect. The commissioner says the shooting was unprovoked. The officer went into surgery and is expected to survive. No word on the suspects condition. Governor jerry brown unveiled the new 170 billion budget plan and its a new record. The governor wants a new 1 billion tax on Health Insurers replacing a tax that runs out this year. And it includes a boost to Public Education and limited help for the low income families. And taxes to fix the state roads. The highway user fee would be used to fix the crumbling roads. A 65 annual fee on all cars including electric and hybrid cars and making changes to gas and diesel taxes to raise 3 billion. The state Transportation Agency says the fee breaks down to 25 cents per car. This plan is part of the governors plan to raise 36 billion over 10 years for road and highway repairs. If approved, that 65 fee would be implemented starting in january of next year. San franciscos housing crunch is at the center of a dispute over a knob hill building. The Property Owner has rented out the building to tourists. The landlord turned the flats into short or longterm rental. And the attorney for the landlord asked for a hotel permit to make them legal.
