Lets go to the east shore freeway and you can see the traffic here is not bad. 16 minutes from the carquinez bridge to the macarthur maze which is about the lightest we have seen it to drive that distance. Not bad at all. To the toll plaza, its light. This is a look at the 880 freeway in oakland. A nice looking drive with no problems heading to the coliseum. And highway 101 looks good from san bruno to palo alto. And likewise for the san mateo and dumbarton bridges. A month long standoff between federal agents and an oregon militia continues despite a deadly shootout. Eight members of the militia were headed to a town meeting and were stopped by fbi agents. Its unclear what sparked the gunfire. A militia spokesman was killed and another injured. There are armed members at large. And federal agents went there last night to where they are hoping for a peaceful surrender. They began occupying the wildlife refugee in Eastern Oregon at the start of the year. They are protesting what they consider the governments improper restrictions on federal land. At home, we are hearing from the family where a hoverboard caught fire. The family says they are lucky. This whole area lit up bright orange and the light was coming from my daughters room on the corner. Reporter he followed a hissing sound and found a fire. Parts of this machine were ricocheting off the walls and doors and flying past me. He dodged flaming projectiles from a hoverboard plugged in only 15 minutes. Police say woods had just stabbed someone and refused to drop his knife. The president of the Police Officers association criticized the supervisors saying woods was so high on nonlethal weapons had no effect on him. The body recovered from a Santa Cruz Beach is that of a missing college student. She was hit by a wave and swept away. And her body was spotted 5 miles from where she was last seen. She was with a fellow student, 25yearold aman his body has not been found. An 85yearold woman hit by a drunk driver has died. She was walking with a friend on the sidewalk in the oakmont village retirement community. And 77yearold gail gray struck the two women. She faces vehicular manslaughter charges. The other woman suffered non lifethreatening injuries. A taxi driver is behind bars after allegedly driving under the influence with a toddler in the backseat. The cab driver was speeding and driving i rat canically through redwood city yesterday. The toddler in the backseat was not put in a car seat and was strapped into a regular seat belt that ended up around his neck. The boy was taken to Child Protective Services and the driver was booked for driving under the influence and felony child endangerment. A hearing will be he would following two recent tour bus crashes in the city. A man was killed near japantown. And the driver was cited for misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter. The supervisor wants agencies including the municipal transportation agency, police, and the Highway Patrol to present solutions to increase tour bus safety. The San Jose City Council Approved plans for an apple campus. It could eventually bring 16,000 jobs to the area. The location of the new campus near highway 87 and the interchange there. Apple will use the san jose campus for research and development. 25 of the companys employees already live in san jose. Apple says the pace of sales is slowing. The Company Reported Quarterly Earnings of 3. 28 a share. Its the first Quarterly Sales decline since between. A disappointing report. Reporter its the worlds most valuable tech company. And apple ceo tim cook announced record profits. But a slower pace of growth. Iphones make up 2 3 of revenue. Not a surprise to customers outside the apple store. I think theyve topped out. Everyone has iphones. A lot of people expected a tough quarter but people were surprised by how much they expected it to decline. Reporter a saturation in the Smartphone Market could be to blame. Most people already have less smartphones and may be less compelled to upgrade. What this represents is a new era. Were entering an era where the expected growth cant be counted on. As a matter of fact were looking at a commute here that continues to look good around the bay area. You can see San Francisco. Northbound 101 looks pretty good. The last few days weve had tight traffic in the financial district and south of market because of the closure at the embarcadero and other reroutes. Looking at the san mateo bridge, that looks good. No trouble on the peninsula. And if youre driving in san jose, downtown northbound 280 traffic is looking good at highway 17. And in the last few days, i dont think weather has been a major issue. Except for the fog. Yesterday it was a little tough. By santa claus it started to lift. A lot of high clouds continue to affiliate in. I dont usually show yesterdays weather but it was a good point. He faces federal charges, accused of purchasing two machine guns from undercover agents. The suspect was planning to use the guns equipped with silencers to kill everyone inside the temple in milwaukee and then walk away. He planned to attack Israeli Soldiers and citizens in the west bank and abandoned those plans and started planning a domestic attack. He wanted to defend the muslim religion. Seattle police say a shooting at a homeless enconcernment appears to be targeted. Two have died and no arrests have been made. Seattle police are looking for two persons of interest. The citys mayor declared a civil state of emergency last fall due to rising homelessness. Two base jumpers are believed to be dead after parachuting off a bridge near big sur. The couple jumped from the bridge and it took days to find out they were missing. This video from the area. Other video from a helmet camera has been recovered and that will not be made public. It shows the woman parachuting and landing in the surf. The man goes after her, lands on the beach. And apparently tries to rescue her. Authorities believe both of them were washed out to sea. Accused of inappropriately touching his Legal Adviser and firing her after she investigated another womans rape allegation. A judge ordered him to pay 6. 5 million in punitive damages. For one kindergartner in new jersey it was quite a different story. She found a tiny lizard hiding in a salad. And the girl took it to her science class where it became the new class pet. It was a great opportunity for children to understand where their food comes from. People dont realize your food comes from a farm and theres wild areas around the farm. That always turns out to be the class pet. Kindergartners named the lizard green fruit loop. The salad was bought at a Natural Foods store. Its unclear if theres a brand name to it. The greens are cleaned and the lizard must have been tucked away in the leaf. Thats what they say. Very tiny. If you buy the triple washed, clean, look for the lizards.
