Pacific fleet said some remains were found in a compartment on the worship. Four other sailors were airlifted to hospitals. The uss John S Mccain suffered major damage when it collided with an oil tanker. Investigators do not know who was at fault but the navy has begun a review of its operations. The mayor of santa clara and the 49ers are in a disagreement over how much money the team owes the city for operations. I final audit paid for by the city shows the 49ers of santa clara about 115,000. The money will cover the cost of police and firefighters. The mayor questions those numbers. She claims the 49ers actually owe almost 2 million in unpaid parking fees, use of Construction Funds and city staff time. The mayor is planning to speak to us later this morning. In a statement she released last night she says immediately , we need to collect the funds owed, set an urgent deadline for the 49ers to produce the documents they withheld and if they dont comply, resume aggressive legal actions. The city spent 200,000 on the audit. A Team Spokesman answered her statement by saying in the end, they wasted over 200,000 in public funds to discover that the city of santa clara failed to bill 115,000 in expenses. Caltrans getting ready to remove the 13 remaining peer supports that used two hold the eastern span of the bay bridge. It is the last step in this long project. Plans for the peer and how traffic will be affected and whats ahead for the remaining support. Reporter the tops removed, only a few feet of the massive pilings remain above water every other weekend from september through november, 2 or 3 coming each time, will be demolished and the debris immediately barged away leaving only the original bay bottom. The pressure wave from about 30 pounds of explosive per pier will be surrounded by a curtain of large bubbles. The bubbles will absorb almost all the shock to minimize disturbance to wildlife. Some people traveled to the parts of the country where a total eclipse was visible. This is what it looks like in jackson hole, wyoming look at what happened. The sun, moon in earth lined up as it got dark, the streetlights came on in the city. And then a few minutes later, daylight reappears and the lights turned off. In the bay area we saw a partial eclipse. This is what it looks like at Santa Clara University where people gathered. And video of the president watching the eclipse at the white house quickly went viral for a brief second he squinted to look at the eclipse without protective glasses. You can hear someone in the crowd yelled, dont look he then put on the protective glasses. Californias electrical power system held up fine during the eclipse. Officials say they did see a sharp drop in solar production as the eclipse moved across california. But production picked back up as soon as the eclipse was over. Hang onto those eclipse glasses. According to nasa, they should be good for the next eclipse which is set for 2024. The next coasttocoast looks like the one we had yesterday, that will not be until 2045. The 2024 eclipse will look like that. It will pass more north and south going from mexico, over texas and over the midwest and the great lakes.
