Well give you a live look where you can see all the gray from here to San Francisco. Well have a slow clearing day on the coast and inside the bay and in fact along the coast. Most of us will be mostly cloudy for your saturday. Heres a look at the footprint. You can see it in the east bay, portions of the south bay. The north bay is looking pretty good. Were starting with 40s. Zooming in closer and the as we showed you the east bay areas starting with sunshine. Into santa rosa, napa is partly cloudy. And as we get into the second half of the afternoon, all of us away from the coastline will have partly cloudy to mostly sunny skies. Upper 40s in napa and santa rosa. Closer to the bay, a lot of 50s. 54 in hay worth and to the coast we have 54 for Half Moon Bay. Todays temps a lot like yesterday. Upper 50s to low 60s from the coast to San Francisco. And low to mid60s on the shoreline. And the inland communities going to about 70 degrees in antioch, pittsburg, into the extended forecast ill show you in just a little bit. A big rig has crashed on highway 4 in pittsburg. Four of the five lanes are closed as crews are trying to clean up all the coal on the roadway. The lanes will be reopened sometime after 8 00 this morning. The Golden State Warriors are back in the bay area after knocking off the Memphis Grizzlies. We caught up the team this morning. And players and coaches are tired after last nights game and the long flight back. Theyre happy to return home and be in the conference finals. This is a great win, you know. In National News this morning, Defense Attorneys for convicted Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev are now trying to figure out strategies for appealing the death sentence. A jury recommended the death sentence after 14 hours of deliberation. They rejected the claims he was influenced by his older brother who died in the shootout with police. The brothers killed a Transit Police officer while they were trying to escape. I know that theres still a long road ahead. Theres going to be many, many more dates ahead. Right now it feels like we can take a breath. He wanted to go to hell and hes going to get there early. Defense attorneys will likely argue that the trial should have been moved out of boston. The judge will formally impose the death sentence at a later date. One person suffered minor injuries from an Apartment Fire in oakland. That broke out at east 28th street near park boulevard. Firefighters responded quickly and contained the fire to the kitchen. They say they believe the fire was an accident. One man had minor smoke inhalation. A 19yearold was arrested in connection with the shooting death of a Vallejo High School student. He was booked yesterday morning, accused of shooting 17 yearold max rusk. This new snow comes long after most of the ski resorts in the area closed down. A grass fire in hercules damaged a home but could have been worse. The fire started yesterday afternoon across from hercules high school. You can see the wind whipping up and the flames making it to the backyard fence. One man grabbed a garden hose before firefighters got there. And then they were able to put out the fire. The Santa Cruz Sentinel featured a picture of brian stow. The headline reads brian stow teaches from tragedy. Hes sharing his experience with hundreds of students and using the incident to raise awareness about bullying. He suffered severe brain damage from the attack and says it could have been prevented by teaching children how to stop bullying at a younger age. It could help prevent attacks. In an attempt to ease the morning commute, bay area transit officials are now considering allowing buses to travel the wrong way on the bay bridge. The idea is to turn the far left eastbound lane into a bus only westbound lane. The proposal requires a special off ramp leading to the terminal. And a moveable barrier similar to the one on the golden gate bridge. We dont have to worry about a car cutting us out of or motorcyclists or anything. Its ours and ours alone. The project could cost more than 170 million besides the price tag the idea would not be popular among those with a reverse commute on the bay bridge. The stanford band will be disciplined after an investigation by the university and its Title Nine Office found that the band violated School Policies on alcohol, hazing, and sexual harassment. It stems from incidents that date all the way back to 2012. The band will be prohibited from hosting events with alcohol. I think a little bit of reform could be good. But too much would also be bad mostly because i think our school does take a lot of pride in our band and its wild and free spirit. The University Said the objective is to ensure a safe and harassment free environment. Scary moments when a vta rider tried to attack a bus driver with a pen. It happened on thursday night at ron brandon was driving a bus. One of his passengers suddenly grabbed his shirt and tried to stab him with a pen. He remained calm and grew concerned as the situation began to escalate. When the bus eventually pulled over and two of his employees came to the rescue. I started yelling hey, get off the bus , get off the bus he grabs like a gigi and i grabbed it and whacked him with it. And the cell phone video shows one of the men getting on the back of the bus and pushing the attacker out through the front. You can see him spiritualable to the stumble to the ground. The man reportedly has Mental Health problems. Luckily, no one was hurt. A san jose wanted in connection with a gang investigation is in custody after a three hour search. Police were about to arrest the man yesterday at about 3 00 when he took off running. Students were put under lockdown as a precaution. And three hours later. They found the man not far from the apartment. Roads were reopened shortly after the arrest. Friends and family continue to mourn the death of a 12year old boy hit and killed by a muni light rail vehicle in San Francisco. His school held a moment of silence earlier this week. Police say he died on tuesday on his way to school when he ran into traffic and was hit. The middle School Community started a Memorial Fund online and theyre hoping to raise at least 10,000 for his family. A minivan plummeted down an embankment in the oakland hills. It happened at 5 40. The 78yearold was distracted by his phone and drove the van off the road. Four people were in the van when it crashed. Two have critical injuries and the other two suffered minor injuries. With the weather starting to heat up. People will be on the water. The coast guard wants to make sure that you and your family stay safe. 3 4 of boating deaths involve someone who drowned. And 84 were not wearing life jackets. The coast guard will be reminding people of the importance of always wearing life jackets. A group of workers in walnut creek is planning to go on strike monday morning. The workers belong to the operation engineers who monitor the electrical and water systems. The union and hospital are at odds over pension benefits. Workers want the pension plan and they say they cant afford the cost. The union will continue to picket until a deal is reached. We have the story of 8year old charlie, a little boy facing an inoperable brain tumor. His story is not just about the pain of the diagnosis. Its about what he and his family are doing in spite of it. I sat down with charlie as they tried to raise awareness. Reporter life is simply about the little moments. And appreciating every laugh and every smile from this little boy. Last july a week before his 8th birthday, he was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor. Its a monster, a 0 cure rate. No one has survived it and his family was told theyd get 12 to 18 months more with charlie. That just doesnt happen to an 8yearold little boy. It shouldnt. But it did and its what the family is doing in spite of the horrible diagnosis that makes the story so remarkable. Within days of being told about the cancer, charlie, on his own, decided to donate part of his tomb tore research. He knew it wouldnt help him but it could help other kids like him. Hes accused of shooting max rusk on a trail near jesse bethel high school. They have no idea why max was targeted. I just hate the person who took his life. We were planning our future already. And the School Superintendent declined to comment and says security is tight at school. They think the fire was an accident. Two people were inside the apartment and one woman got out and another suffered from minor smoke inhalation. Hundreds came together to remember three teenagers who died in a car crash on tuesday. Two of the 18yearold women were set to graduate in a metropolitan. They were killed when the car they were riding in crashed on tuesday night. A 24yearold man also died. And the 23yearold driver survived. Such a tragic decision that took their life away. Just really tragic. All of them wanted to go to college and get a Better Future for them and their families. Reporter investigators found a container of alcohol, drugs, and drug paraphernalia. That came three days after another student was killed in a car crash. The high sierra was greeted with Winter Weather. A Winter Weather advisory was in effect above 6500 feet. This is along 80 and people who were passing through were a little bit surprised by the snowfall. Many of them were expected to wear shorts and tshirts this weekend. The afternoon highs and the extended forecast. A san jose man wanted in connection with a gang investigation is now in custody after a three hour search. They were about to arrest a man at an apartment near vine and grant streets at 3 00 when he suddenly took off running. Students were put under lockdown as a precaution. Three hours later they found the man not far from the apartment. Roads blocked during the search were reopened shortly after the arrest. Friends and family continue to mourn the death of a 12year old hit by a muni light rail vehicle. Andrew wus classmates created this memorial in his honor. His school held a moment of silence earlier this week. Wu died on tuesday on his way to school when he ran into traffic and was hit. The middle School Community has started a Memorial Fund online hoping to raise at least 10,000 for his family. And two people are in Critical Condition after a minivan plummeted down an embankment in the oakland hills. It happened last night about 5 40 at wild current way and glenn oaks way. The 78yearold driver was distracted by his phone and drove the van off the narrow winding road and it crashed through the rail of a nearby driveway before flipping onto its side. People were in the van and two have critical injuries and the other two minor injuries. A vta rider tried to attack a bus driver with a pen. He says one of the passengers grabbed his shirt and tried to stab him with a pen. He remained calm and got concerned as the situation began to escalate. He pulled the bus over and a nearby Business Owner and two employees came to the rescue. I started yelling get off the bus leave the guy alone grabs a squeegee and tried to hit me with it. And i whacked him with it. This cell phone video shows one of the men getting on the back of the bus and pushing the attacker out through the front. Police say the man might not get charged because they believe he has Mental Health issues. In an attempt to ease the morning commute, bay area transit officials are considering allows buses to travel the wrong way on the bay bridge. The idea is to turn the far left eastbound lean into a bus only westbound lane. It requires a special off ramp leading to the terminal. And the bus lane would need a moveable barrier similar to the golden gate bridge. We dont have to worry about a car cutting us off or motorcyclists or anything. Its ours and ours alone. The project would cost more than 170 million and besides that price tag, the idea may not be that popular among those with a reverse commute on the bridge. The stanford band is being disciplined after an investigation by the university and the Title Ix Office found that they violated policies. The incidents date back to 2012. Besides being banned from away games, theyll be banned from hosting events with alcohol. I think a little bit of reform could be good but too much would also be bad mostly because i think our school takes a lot of pride in our band being this wild and free like spirit. I am the electric giraffe. Hes talking. And this drives the kids crazy. He know that is youre touching him. We have these lights. And we know he know that is youre touching him. And the kids get up close and personal with the robot and see it and experience it. The thing i learned is that children unthrough 11 or 12, everything is in the fingertips. You can talk to them all today long about gears. But if you hand them a box of gears and, youre outreaching them mechanical engineers without a single word being spoken. So many cool things this morning. Reporter a lot of cool things. You know the maker faire is a chance for people to come and check out all the creative and unique items that people make on their own. Thats the essence of this, and behind me is something called the tree of changes. Were going to walk up to it. I had the artist with me. You made this in your studio in berkeley. Yes. This is something made here in the bay. How does this work. It looks beautiful but it has a function. People are able to walk up to the tree and express their wish for change, and it gets translated into lights and audio so every wish travels on to the tree and lights up a wish pendant. Im going to wish for the warriors to win the nba championship. I wish the warriors win. Lets see what it does. There it goes. See the trunk down there randy, the lights traveling up to the top. Now depending on the wish and depending on how it sounds, the light pattern is different right . Yeah. So theres a prototype so far it analyzes whether positive or negative sentiments and it maps it on to different colors and that they are aggregated on to the tree. So if its a negative sentiment, is it like a red color, a cooler color versus a warmer color. I think what is also interesting a lot of adults and kids have been liking this. It has been four years since giants fan brian stow was attacked and nearly killed in the parking lot outside dodge estate yum. Now hes sharing his experience with hundreds of students and using that incident to raise awareness about bullying. Stow suffered severe brain damage and says it could have been prevented. Bythe children seemed to get the message. His story really inspired me, you know, to look out for bullying in more areas and stop it when it starts to happen. Stow says raising awareness about bullying has given his life renewed purpose, and last week one of his attackers actually apologized for the first time in a letter he asked the judge for mercy and described the attack as an accident. Homeowners in mora georgia continue to keep their water rate down by using a statewide ballot measure. They installed water meters five years ago but homeowners have managed to avoid using them. A small handful have preserved their monthly rate at 120 despite using eight times as much water. This morning i want to introduce you to 8yearold charlie degrange. He is facing an inoperable brain tumor. His story suspect isnt just about the pain of his terminal diagnosis, its about what he and his family are doing in spite of it. I sat down with charlie and his family as they tried to raise awareness of this rare and deadly cancer known as dipg. For the degrange family life is simply about the little moments. And appreciating every laugh and every smile from this little boy. Last july a week before his 8 8th birthday he was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor. Its a monster. Its a 0 cure rate. No one has ever survived it, and his family was told they would only get 12 to 18 months more with charlie. I mean that just doesnt happen, you know, it doesnt happen to an 8yearold little boy. It shouldnt. No, it shouldnt. But it did, and its what this family is doing in spite of this horrible diagnosis that makes their story so remarkable. Within days of being told about the cancer, charlie on his own decided to donate part of his tumor to research. And he knew that it wouldnt help him but it could help other kids like him. And his family has come together in a very special way. This was the best year from july to nowas awesome. His parents quit their jobs and moved to vacaville to be closer to family and doctors. Were going to live every day with him. Every day means appreciating the Little Things from the stories he writes. The turtles were in the secret lair. To the time he spends with his two brothers and sister. These are the bad guys. It is about the big things. Where was this . These are cool pictures. At central park.
