You need exercise to keep your heart pumping and keep things going. It starts at a younger age. You know about that. This program, you are working with steph curry. Yes. And the warriors. Today will be the camp. Steph is gonna go. Were gonna announce the partnership. This is the first time the nba has been with a hospital and health group to do this. And its gonna be a big thing because we especially here in oakland. Yeah. We need these kids to understand how you have to get out there and expert and stay fit and stay healthy. When we get to our age, we need that as you know, were playing nba, we have a lot of time to do comrs every to do exercise every day. But when you get retired, you have to keep it up. Our body doesnt know how to react to what were doing when we were young and when we start to sit and eat the bad foods and do the things were not supposed to do, it catches up on us. You are still in great shape. Thank you. Thank you. You know, its a its theres a blessing that i have, the genes that i have. But some people dont have genes like that. You have to get out and keep your heart to pumping, you know, get out and walk. You can walk, you can ride a bike. You can do anything that can make yourself healthy. You can get these diabetes, you can these other kinds of stuff and with the exercise it helps and keeping the weight off and it helps a lot. Eating the right foods, too. You have to eat the right foods and juices. Its smart nat nba, Kaiser Permanente and the warriors have an am bars der in you and steph curry pushing kids in the bay area to eat better, live better and be more physical. We all have to do that. Its not just here. It just so happen im from oakland, came and im here and steph curry and willie well, for him to come up. But i think were trying to do it in every basketball city. We want hes these kids to understand thats our future. Thats our future. Some of these kids pass out because of heart problems playing basketball and things like that. Thats unfortunate. We dont see they need a checkup. But some kids think they can eat the wrong foods and go out and do anything. Which they cant do. Which they cannot do. You are eating this red meat and putting all of this stuff in your body and you have to exercise it out. Were out of time. But its a pleasure to having the glove and getting the message from gary payton and the great work that you and the warriors and kaiser are doing. Thank you for stopping. Maybe sometime you and i can go one on one. [laughter] thank you. Thank you. Appreciate it. Dave, i think you could give him a run for his money. [laughter] all right. Thank you, guys. Thank you, sir. A lot of cloud cover coming up. Southern california, its starting to the fog is off to the east. Not as much as the weekend but some is there. Wont be as warm. San jose probably best. San jose, santa clara valley, down towards monterey and off to the east and southeast. Sure looks like a dry january. If we dont get any rain, it would be the driest january ever. However, i should add that if the longrange models are right, early february could be the complete opposite. It could be very wet. Well see. Normally 4. 5 inches so far this january. This year zero. Its getting worse. Cant get much worse than zero. Have a lot of the cloud cover streaming up. That will give us a partly sunny mostly cloudy morning. Theres some rain embedded with this. It bears watching. It looks like it will favor areas to the east and south of us. It will be close. Late tonight and tomorrow. Most of it should be up in the sierra or out to the valley. 30s, 40s and 50s. The cloud cover is on the way. Look for a cloudy to mostly cloudy day. Some of that rain is moving its way up. Increasing clouds throughout the day. Still fog, cool, mild. Upper 50s. A couple of low 70s on the humid side. Back to dry for late in the week. If i get my car washed its guaranteed to rain. You a and you and everybody else. 8 506. Well 8 56. Well have more on mornings on 2 after this. A montessori in arizona is renting out rooms that go to the super bowl. Nuns say its a natural fit. They are just five miles from the university of phoenix stadium and they say hospitality, thats the mission of the sisters of saint benedict. The sisters have eight rooms. They went at 300 a night with a threemight min number. They are offering their Retreat House for 3500 for the week. But they wont put in a special prayer for either team. I dont think god makes one team or the other win. I think whoever does the best job that day. There are some house rules. No smoking, no drinking, no swearing. And all of the money from the rentals will go to support their work with the needy. Pretty interesting. Strict rules, of course. Well, potholes can cause hundreds of dollars in damage to your car. But now several bay area cities are investing millions of dollars to fix potholes. Grants and sales tax measures are helping to pay for the repairs. According to the San Jose Mercury news, agencies all over the bay area say they plan to spend up to five times more on road maintenance in the coming years. For many cities, pot holes are the top priority. Here is a look at the streets by the numbers. More than half of San Franciscos 850 miles of streets are in bad shape. More than of the streets in nine bay area counties are considered at risk. San jose faces a 400 million backlog for streets in poor condition. Sometimes its like going through an Obstacle Course getting through the potholes. And we drive through all of that stuff. Its pretty slow. 101 is slow. So is the bay bridge. This is wonderful trying to get onto the lower deck of the bay bridge. Traffic is very slow out of the city. Westbound bay bridge is also slow. So getting into the city has been slow. The south bay is beginning to pick up a little bit. 101 is still slow into sunnyvale. Now, lets go to steve. Thank you, sal. Fog out to the east. High clouds coming up from the south. It will give us a cloudy to mostly cloudy monday night tuesday. If there is any rain, thats our best bet. Thats it. Steve, you may be busy tomorrow talking about how the airlines are effected. 30 inches expected for new york city. Boston airport more than that. The airport will slows down. 4 30 our time. Same for new york. All right. Thats our report. We thank you for making ktvu your choice for news. And be sure to watch the ktvu channel 2 news at noon. Thank you for joining us.
