The pattern has changed from hot and humid and warm and humid to tropical clouds, system to the north, a pretty big low has decided to pay a visit. Thats allowed our temperatures to catch up with most of the other parts of the United States which are also enjoying cooler weather. The tropical clouds will stay out of the picture. 50s, 60s. Very close. Coast, bay, inland, north bay, peninsula, south. Everyone is close on the temperatures. We have more of a westerly breeze. Ocean temperatures, 50s to 60s. Theyve kind of settled in there. Not too kiel, not too warm. This weak system is falling apart. But that has lifted the low cloud deck. Mostly sunny after the low clouds burn off. Cool inland temperatures. 70s for some. 60s, 70s, coast and bay. Heres sal. Were looking at p toll plaza because getting in from the east bay to San Francisco because its crowded. Although im noticing today, its better than it was yesterday. You can see on the left there for the 880 ramp. Its not quite as crowded. There are a couple of breaks here at the toll plaza. Well take it. 20minute delay, 20minute drive time getting into San Francisco. Also speaking of San Francisco, northbound 101, that looks good approaching the 80 split. You know the giants play again tonight. They are hosting the white sox and thats a nighttime game so you might want to plain for people coming into the city to catch the game tonight. Also, the commute on the Livermore Valley area, westbound 580 is pretty slow. If you get on the freeway in dublin, if we can move the map west, you can see from dublin over to castro valley, it still looks okay. 7 03. Back to the desk. All right. Thank you. With more details coming about the death of Robin Williams, most fans are choosing to continue to celebrate his life, but we are learning a couple people are using his suicide to allegedly harass his only daughter Zelda Williams. Tara moriarty has more on the decision to remove herself from social media. Reporter thats right. Robin williamss daughter has removed herself from twitter and instagram because two people were harassing her about her fathers death, taunting her with fake autopsy pictures, as unbelievable as it sounds. On a positive note, zelda has received thousands of messages of support including here at the famous mrs. Doubtfire house where people have been writing in chalk on the sidewalk, lighting their favorite lines from movies that Robin Williams appeared in and theyve been doing this same thing at the Goodwill Hunting bench in boston, the mork and mindy house in colorado and on his hollywood star. Meanwhile, details came to light yesterday. The Sheriffs Office announced that Robin Williams died after hanging himself with a belt. Officials say he was already dead when his personal assistant found him monday morning. Theres still no word on a public memorial service, but San Francisco mayor ed lee told cute he would like to do something ktvu he would like to do something but he will wait for the family to decide. Im giving it time for the family tell us what they would like. Were in contact with family members to let us know how they feel. I think the first few days is about letting it settle. Reporter the Sheriffs Department said its waiting for the results of a toxicology report. It plans to have a final press release in a couple of weeks. Yesterday, williamss san zach acknowledged his fathers son suicide, saying, i lost my father and a best friend and the world got grayer. I would ask those who loved him to remember him by being as gentle, kind and generous as he would be. Already donations have increased and the williamss family is asking instead of flowers that you give money one of Robin Williamss Favorite Charities which is the Christopher Reeve foundation as well as glide memorial church. Back to you. Robin williams was a long time San Francisco giants fan. So the team honored him before last nights game. We lost one of our greatest fans yesterday and he will be deeply missed by all of us. Pictures of williams were up on the scoreboard as fans and players stood to observe a moment of silence. Giants players and manager bruce bochy say they have fond memories of him. Robin williams was asked a lot of questions by interviewers. On youtube, this clip shows how he responded to a question about going to heaven. He was asked by the host and robin used humor in his response to that serious question. Public anger over a decision to remove treasured mow mentis at sea cliff state beach. For years, people drew murals, et posted photos and scrawled messages. On monday, park rangers posted a sign alerting beachgoers they have 30 days to take down their keepsakeses. More than 1100 people have signed an online petition to keep those mementos up. Political ethics experts are questioning some of the actions of the campaign to re elect jean quan. The chronicle reports that quans campaign emailed City Employees on their city email accounts about upcoming political events and lismging them to a cam linking them to a Campaign City website. Quans spokesman said the e mail was only sent to people who signed up for a Campaign Press distribution list. But the paper reports nine City Employees received an email but said they had not signed up. City guidelines forbid the use of this. Well, the big day is here today for thousands of Bay Area School kids. For them, summer is over. Its back to school day. Were here at san jose high. This is the second Oldest Public High School in california. As you can see, once these cars get out of the way, there are students here already waiting to get inside to start their classes in the next hour, we should see traffic pick up. Classes begin at 8 00 a. M. This is video in the last 20 minutes of school buses arriving, a fresh new school year awaits they. Teachers have been preparing their curriculum for the last few weeks. There are more than 40 schools in san jose unified. The largest district in san jose. The district is entering the third year of its plan which is aimed at closing the opportunity gap between students at schools. The focus is on ensuring students are being taught 21st century skills. This includes giving students access to highlevel courses and handson exposure to outside business partners. Now, other School Districts in the bay area are also welcoming students today. They are antioch, napa valley, fairfield, suisun city and south San Francisco and next week, there are more School Districts starting in the bay area and many private schools begin as well. The district is now offering extended day kindergarten thanks to an agreement with its teachers union. Schools will offer an extra hour of classroom instruction as well as two hours of extra teaching support each day. They hope that will attract parents and increase student enrollment. They fled their homes when their towns were taken over by isis militants who threatened to kill them if they did not convert to islam. Many are walking for days seeking safety. The u. S. Vo involvement in iraq is deepening. 130 troops have arrived in iraq to help to figure out how to get the refugees to safety. Kyla campbell is live in washington, d. C. To explain what these troops are expected to do. Reporter the pentagon says those military advisers will get a lay of theland and come up with options for the defense secretary and president to check out. This is not a combat boots on the ground operation. Were not gonna have that kind of operation. But short of that, there are things we can continue to do. Reporter its estimated as many as 35,000 ethnic and religious authorities are still on the mountain. The refugees fled there to avoid getting slaughtered by isis. The Pentagon Press secretary said this morning theres no rescue operation in the works right now they are focused on air dropping supplies. The u. S. , u. K. , australia and france have dropped tens of thousands of meals and gallons of water and supplies on the mountain. There is a huge challenge with getting longterm sustainable assistance to the people trapped on the mountain and the others affected by the crisis. The tombstones there date back to the 1850s from the battles between american settlers and the nativeamericans but because the graves are on a sandy hillside, they often slide. They have to be realigned every year. Now a permanent solution has been found. It involves removing the headstone, setting it on the foot end of the grave site. Digging a trench and pouring in a concrete box and then replacing that the headstone. Now, engineers mark the headstone locations using gps and then they use lasers to line up the roads. All of the head stones are being power washed. That work should be completed by 2016. 7 18. Its official, the Los Angeles Clippers have a new owner. A judge confirmed former microsoft Ceos Steve Ballmer record 2 billion purchase of the team. Donald sterling was banned from the nba for making racially intensive comments. A south bay congressman wants to clear the huge backlog of untested rape kits. Mike honda says there are 500,000 rape kits around the nation that have never been tested. He wants to launch a pilot plan in Alameda County where there are 2,000 rape kits that have not been tested. He wants to speed up testing by certifying private crime labs to process dna tests. Now, a lot of rape survivors say the current delay in testing is very frustrating. Some are telling social workers if they had known this, they might not have reported the crime. All victims of rape are gonna say dont bother. Dont bother because you are gonna go through all of this, you are gonna have to wait six months or a year or whatever it is. Now, if this program is approved an its successful, this could be expanded nationwide. A federal judge has denied a motion to restore Ambulance Service at Doctors Medical center in san pablo. The hospital is running out of money. Without new funding it will have to close later this year. It stopped accepting ambulances last week. That prompted a group of doctors, nurses and Community Members to file a lawsuit requesting a temporary restraining order to halt the reduction of services. The group claims discrimination against those who depend on the hospital the most. That will be seniors and the disabled. The judge set another hearing for august 27th. As we learn more about the tragic death of Robin Williams, his fans, many of them also focused not on how he died but how he lived. At a News Conference yesterday afternoon, the marin county Sheriffs Department announced the 63yearold actor and comedian died after hanging himself. The lead detective in the case says Robin Williamss wife left the home at 10 30 monday morning. At 11 45, his personal assistant arrived, went into the house. , when he dent didnt come to the door. At approximately 11 45 a. M. , a 911 call came in reporting that a male adult had been located unconscious and not breathing inside his residence. Police say the initial investigation shows Robin Williams was already dead by the time his assistant arrived. As the details were released, fans still expressed their love and support for the man they say made the world a little brighter. I didnt under how to get along with other kids and i would wait to have my time with mork to learn about how to be an alien on a planet where things dont go well. The marin county Sheriffs Department still waiting for toxicology results. They plan to have a press release in a couple of weeks. Now, yesterday, Robin Williamss only daughter zell da acknowledged her fathers suicide and the message she posted online. She said, while ill never, ever understand how he could be loved so deeply and not find it in his heart to stay, theres minor comfort in knowing our grief and loss in some small way is shared with millions. Suicide prevention counselors say they are concerned that the specific decoming out specific details coming out will affect those already considering suicide. At the Santa Clara Valley medical center, more than00 volunteers answer the crisis hot line 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Last year, the call center received more than 24,000 calls. Many from people suffering from depression. I guess if i was to give a message to somebody, you dont need to be lonely. Theres always somebody here to listen to you. Counselors say their biggest message they have is suicide is preventable. While several callers did mention, Robin Williams there has not been an increase in calms since his calls since his suicide. The victim in this case will reportedly be taken off life support by his family later on today. The man was found badly injured on this street over the weekend and when he was taken to San Francisco general. , authorities struggle to figure out who he was. Thats why the hospital released a photo to the public to identify him and they were able to do so. The victim in this vicious attack is 39yearold brian higgins. He was found severely injured early sunday morning on church between dubose and market. A examiner reports that police have Surveillance Video from muni and from some nearby businesses that captured the attack. Police also do say that a weapon of some kind may have been used. Now, the examiner reports that higgins was part of the radical ferry moment, a group of gay men looking for a spiritual dimension of their sexuality. Its unclear if this is investigated as a hate crime. We understand there will be a memorial for the victim at 3 30 this afternoon at dubose park here in San Francisco. A Bay Area Church pastor facing charges of molesting children. 69yearold sinco was arrested yesterday at his home in daly city. Hes the pastor of the independent neeshtion pentecostal indonesian pentecostal church. Police are trying to find out if there are any more victims. They say sinco has ties to another church in San Francisco as well as a church in concord. Nearly four years after the san bruno pipeline explosion, there is new concern over recent construction near the blast site. Brian flores is there now where residents say all of this construction is still too much too soon. Reporter good morning. It had been four years since the deadly pipeline explosion. But still many that lived through what happened will just have to continue to deal with the trauma of what they saw even while the community rebuilds. Whats going on here, a developer hopes to build several new homes aferped the area of glenview and san bruno avenue in the crest moore neighborhood. According to the examiner, the developer hopes to build 30 homes with twocar garages. Pg e crews continue to replace aging pipelines to make sure an explosion like that never happens again. Some residents say all of that loud construction noise triggers posttraumatic symptoms. Some say they are still undergoing counseling and meeting with support groups to deal with what they saw and experienced four years ago. Son top of that, some say developing here will impact traffic here as well as existing infrastructure or resources. There has been a couple of Public Meetings about resident concerns but nom say not enough some say not enough has been done. Tree roots may grow and eventually impact underground facilities. In the meantime, pg e is extending the outreach to customers about what to do before digging in their yards. This email and video was sent out to customers reminding them of the steps to prevent digging into gas and electrical lines. Also reminding to call 811 at least two days before digging work so that the crews can pinpoint and mark where the pipelines are. As we take it back out here live, when it comes to this project, it has to go through several approval processes with the review board, Planning Commission and city council. A new oversight report says government officials wrongly denied for weeks that more than 2,000 immigrants facing deportation had been released from detention strictly for budget reasons. The report says immigration officials did not notify Homeland Security that they were letting the immigrants go as required. Back in march of last year, immigration officials denied reports that more than 2,000 immigrants had been released because of pending budget cuts. 8 16. And political ethics experts are questioning some of the actions of the Reelection Campaign for oakland mayor jean quan. The chronicle reports that quans campaign emailed City Employees on their city email accounts about upcoming political events and linking them to a Campaign Donation website. Quans spokesman said the e mail was only sent to people who had signed up for a Campaign Press distribution list but the paper reports at least nine City Employees received the email but had not signed up. The Sheriffs Department said the 63yearold actor and comedian died from hanging. The lead detective on the case says Robin Williamss wife left the home at 10 30 monday morning. At 11 a, williamss at 11 45, williams personal assistant went in the house when he did not come to the door. At 11 45, Marin County Communications received a 911 telephone call reporting that a male adult had been located unconscious and not breathing inside his residence. Police say the initial investigation shows that Robin Williams was already dead when his assistant arrived. According to the examiner, the victim in this vicious attack is 31yearold brian higgins. He was found severely injured early sunday morning on Church Street between did you between dubose and market. Police have video from muni and nearby businesses that captured the attack. Police learned a weapon of some kind may have been used here. The examiner reports that higgins was part of the radical ferry movement, gay men looking for a spiritual dimension to their sexuality. Its unclear if police are investigating this as a hate crime. Were here at san jose high, about 1100 kids go to school here. They are already inside and right now, again, theres a lot of excitement as they walked onto campus. There are more than 40 schools in san jose unified, the largest School District in san jose. Expect to see a lot more pedestrian and vehicle traffic especially when the accident commute starts at san jose high. They are starting the year with a facelift, a new lab with ipads an laptops for the students. The principal said the first few days will be getting the students in a routine, getting them used to class schedules and familiarizing themselves with their lockers. Officers say they were forced to shoot one of the men when he pointed a gun at them. Police in the st. Louis area also say that violence is aimed at them. A federal judge has rejected a motion to restore Ambulance Service at Doctors Medical center in san pablo. The hospital is running out of money without new funding, it will probably have to close later this year. It has already stopped accepting ambulances. That prompted a group of doctors, nurses and Community Members to file a lawsuit asking for a temporary restraining order to stop the reduction of services. The group is claiming that discrimination is occurring against people who depend on the hospital the most including Senior Citizens and the disabled.
