Check out this hole in the roadway here. Workers, so far they have replaced this particular section of pipe. Its a 6inch line that suddenly burst last night. The pipe ruptured just before 10 00 last night and water was sent rushing down the street and flooded several homes, possibly as many as 5. The homes damaged are on brussels street and awards street in the valley. One showed us the damage done to inside their home. This is a cast iron pipe that could be 60 years old. I talked to the representative of department of water and power. Shes working on getting more information on the water main break, the particulars of what may have gone wrong here. It came down this direction and went into a couple of these homes right here in this street. It was late last night when this 6inch pipe ruptured and it caused really some major problems for people who lived nearby. Now, this pipe ruptured just before 0 clock last night and water was sent rushing down the street. Im told as many as five homes were possibly flooded here. These are on brussels street between ore and ward. One showed us the damage done in this home. It knocked out Water Service for a time, but its back on this morning. I spoke with a representative from the department of water and power, who told me there was a broken valve in this neighborhood that prevented cruise from turning off the water for some time. I spoke to that representative. I also asked him about what some neighbors were telling me, which was possibly crews had been out here to check on a leak in this particular area where the water man happened last night a few months ago. The representative from the department of water and power tells me they are checking on those reports that they are getting from neighbors. A six inch water main break caused heavy damages to five homes this morning. Im going to be speaking with the representative from the city to get more information. Fearing for their safety they ran into the freezer, but when the two restaurant workers went to investigate, they shot at them thinking they were the other men. The breaks sent gushing water down the street and right into the drives drive ways, and the homes have had water knocked out. They are patching up the road this morning. San Francisco Police need your help to track down a suspect in a vicious robbery and assault. Surveillance captured the attack. It is graphic. Police say a group robbed a female victim of her purse and smartphone. One comes back and kicks her on in the head when she was still on the group. The person who delivered the final kick is on the loose. We have a victim on the ground already and you have the suspect coming back and kicking the victim in the face so violently that it knocks the victim out. The victim is recovering, he there may be other robberies and assaults between civic and castro. After the events wrapped up last weekend, anyone who may have been a victim are asked to call police. Alex savage joins us live from the visitation valley neighborhood where crews just wrapped up repairs. There was quite a bit of water flowing through a lot of these homes, several here on this street where we are. You with see the remnants of that as the water flowed. This one had quite a bit of damage this was the scene around 10 00 last night as water rushed down the streets in this visitation valley neighborhood. A total of seven homes had some form of flooding damage. Mostly it was in garages and backyards. Those homes are all here on bruce el street and around the corner onward street as well in visitation valley. It was a six inch water main that ruptured last night. City crews came out and responded immediately but they encountered a problem. There was an issue stopping the flow of water like a river. My husband go outside and see all the water come from the other streets and then in the next the yard, all come from here. Reporter that woman we spoke to had water flow through the backyard but said the inside of the home was not damaged. The spokesman for the puc said the age of this pipe was likely a factor in the break last night. This cast iron pipe at least 60 years old. All morning long crews the department of water and power were out here doing repairs to that pipe and again the repairs have all been wrapped up but now homeowners in this area left to clean up as we bring you back out to a live picture. The Fire Department said it received a call just before 8 30 last night. Ten gallons of a colorless but highley flammable liquid spilled into a storage area of the a building. Students were told to avoid the area. A fire station is set to close on monday and firefighters say that the district is already stretched to thin. Station 87 is scheduled to close because of budget cuts. Its the 4th station to close in the county this year and firefighters say sources are very low. They are asking the county officials to rethink the closure. Firefighters say the district has had so many calls they could barely get to them all. We had to stop responding to certain levels of calls. There were hours where whole section of the community had no fire coverage. After the station closes the board plans to meet tuesday. Firefighters and the chief hope the board will find funding to keep the station open. Thousands of bills are set to be mailed out around california for a state Fire Prevention fee. The money is collected from people who live in socalled state responsibility areas which are monitored by cal fire. Those bills about 115 a home. Cal fire said the money is used for Vegetation Management, Defensible Space anymore, fire hazard mapping and other efforts. The other driver who was not arrested is a disabled army veteran. San Francisco Police are looking for a gunman who shot and killed a man and hurt three others in front of a bar. It was reported about 1 30 yesterday morning at double dutch on 16th. Police say the gunman came up to a group of people outside bar and started shooting. A 24yearold was shot and died. A 22yearold and go 23year olds were also hurt. There is no description of the gunman. In oakland a Security Guard was charged with two counts of murder in the shooting death of two workers inside a wing stop restaurant. Authorities say the 21yearold jermaine girlie admitted to the shootings. He and a friend went in monday and got into a fight with some other customers. Fearing for their safety the two ran right into the restaurants freezer. When the two workers went to investigate girlie allegedly fired at them thinking they were the other men. In florida the prosecution has wrapped up its case in the George Zimmerman murder trial in the death of Trayvon Martin. The mothers of both listened to the same tape of someone screaming for help is he yelling help . Yes. That screaming, or yelling, do you recognize that . Yes. Who do you recognize that to be . I had to pay 7,000 in fines and classes, charged. I feel like this is tax dollars, we already paid for him to be out there and now we get another bill on top of that bill. I feel thats double dipping the public. That bill came two years after the arrest. The delay was caused by a court case over the program. There is now a backlog of more than 80,000 bills. Bay area officers will be out in full force this Holiday Weekend looking for drunk drivers. There will be checkpoints in areas including San Francisco and santa clara, officers plan to set up checkpoints seven tonight until three tomorrow morning. The school can keep its rating if it makes the mandated changes such as cut operational costs and improve accounting. With the state budget signed a new program will go into effect next year to make college more affordable for thousands of middle class families. Once it takes effects families making 100,000 a year or less can apply for a 40 discount on tuition at state universities. Itll be 10 for those earning up to 150,000 a year. Chrysler is recalling a half million vehicles. The recall affects sebring, chrysler 200, Dodge Avenger and jeep liberty vehicles made between 2011 and 2013. Also 2011 and 2012nitlos. Cleaning up after a water main breakin San Francisco, several homes were flooded after water poued in to the streets. Good morning. Its saturday, july 6th. Repairs wrapped up an hour ago. Alex is live from the area to talk about the damage caused by the flooding and the problem city crews faced when they first arrived on scene. There was a delay in getting the water shut off last night. We learned that in speaking a spokesperson for the Public Utilities commission, apparently there was a broken water valve in this neighborhood. That caused problems last night. The water just kept on flowing through a lot of these homes. You can see this man opened up his garage a short time ago and showed us the damage inside. You can see this water was flowing through, rushing through the garage for a number of hours last night. The homeowner told me that there was no flood damage inside the home itself. Just through the garage and out the backyard. Im pretty cuevas far as thats concerned. I dont think there will be a big problem its just a mess. This was the scene though about 10 00 last night as the water came down the streets here in this neighborhood. Seven homes had flood dam of some kind. Mostly it was in garages and backyards but a few people had it come into their homes, in to the homes themselves. The damaged homes are mainly on bruce brussell and ward. This was a six inch water main. City crews responded but there was an issue stopping the flow of water. There was a valve they had to shut off to turn the water off and that was a faulty valve. Reporter as far as what caused this break a spokesman for the San Francisco puc said that it was likely the age of the pipe that was a major factor. This was a cast iron pipe that was between 60 and 70 years old. Crews from San Franciscos department of water and power were out here throughout the night repairing and replacing this damaged section of the waterline and then obviously repairing the roadway itself. That work is all done but now as we bring you back out live there is still quite a bit of clean uwork inside some of the homes and garages and thats why a private company has been called in by the city of San Francisco to do all of this clean up work. San francisco will be picking up the tab for all of the homeowner who have damage after the flooding last night. Live in San Francisco. San Francisco Police need your help tracking down the last suspect in a violent robbery and assault. Video captured the attack and we want to warn you, the video is graphic. That happened near market just before 2 00 a. M. Last sunday. A group robbed a female victim of her purse and phone. One suspect kicked her in the head as she was on the ground. Three suspects were arrested the morning of the attack but the suspect who kicked her is still on the loose. You have a victim who is down on the ground already and then you have the suspect coming back and kicking her in the face so violently it knocked her out. The victim is said to be recovering. Police say the suspects may be behind other unreported robberies and assaults around Market Street after big saturday events wrapped up. Anyone with information is urged call police. A shooting during pride night is being called a hate crime by the clubs owners but not by police. Investigators are looking for the gunman who shot a 23year old employee outside of the epic social lounge. The violent happened arch the man was asked to leave because he was disturbing customers and making comments. The employee who was shot is expected to survive. In tracy police are investigating a hate crime after a city official found a swatskia in her front yard. She said someone arranged the rocks to form it on her lawn. The rocks were dug up from her garden. She said someone rang the doorbell but they didnt answer. It didnt scare me but it made me pause and just be caution. The vandals also put large rocks, you can see them, behind that red car. Thats her car. Her husband and sons cars over on the right were left alone. No arrests have been made. There is a warning about a new scam involving medical alert devices. Seniors are being targeted by calls offering the devices for free. The callers told a relative or friend bought them for them but they have to provide credit card information to verify their identity. They never get the device but later find their card has been charged. There are renewed concerns among pet owners after reports of more poisonous meat balls found on city streets. Warning signs are posted up where some 50 tainted meat balls have been found and now there are sorts that they also turned up in glenn park and other areas. They have red and green bit that look like poison which is used to kill rod ents. A dog that ate one was sickened but is expected to recover. A man is facing charges after the discovery of a home made bomb. The bomb squat detonated it. A liter sized plastic bottle that had been filled with liquid. After an investigation a 32 yearold Richard Santos was arrested on suspicious of possessing an explosive device. Cal ocea is septembering a hath of july accident that sent fireworks into the crowd in Southern California it happened in simi valley thursday night as the Fireworks Show was starting. At least 39 people were hurt and three of them are still in the hospital. Police said move the fireworks went off early. The Fireworks Company hired to put on the show said it regrets the incident. Fireworks may be to blame for a fire that killed a couple in richmond and badly burned their so. The fire as the resulted yesterday morning on 21stth street in a converted garage. The 50yearold and her husband were both killed. The couples 28yearold son is in critical condition. He is said to be develop mentally disabled. Investigators believe he may have been playing with fireworks after his parents went to bed and accidentally started the fire. The cause however is still being investigated. Illegal fireworks are likely to blame for a number of fires around the bay area. The city said it received more than 200 complaints about illegal fireworks but that police were busy responding to shootings and a protest. And check out this amazing footage from this Train Derailment near the border. A train carrying 70 tankers of oil want off the tracks. The derailment sent a huge fire ball into the air. There have been several explosions as well. Police dont know the number of victims but there are believed to be deathed. Thick oil also spilled into a river. Fire crews have gone there to help put out the blaze which is still burning. First it was fires, now severe flooding. Parts of Northern Colorado cant get a break. They are under Flash Flood Warning.
