And if you are driving in the east bay highway 4 looks good. New this morning in San Francisco Police Investigating the discovery of a body in the knob neighborhood. Were standing in front of the ritz carlton. We have been told that there is a body on the step there is. We have seen Police Taking pictures on the steps just below the balcony. The biggest challenge is for crews trying to rescue people trapped in villages. Police are saying more than 3700 people have died. Doctors without borders sending eight teams to nepal. They will run a mobile clinic nearly 100 strong aftershocks have delayed rescue efforts. The ground is shaking. So far 18 of the People Killed were in an earthquake. I mean in the earthquake died on an avalanche. He and another climber headed to a tent to create a pocket of air. Three americans were among those killed in the avalanche. More than 60 others were hurt. For the first time this morning we are hearing about the terrifying moments from one of the survivors. Everything was gone. All of our tents were gone. People were pushed. The guy that stood in front of me was 30 feet over there. And we are missing one person that we dont know if she is alive or dead. He says he is lucky that he and his four member crew were able to escape without injury. One of the americans who died in the avalanche was right here in the bay area. He was an executive for google. Police are trying to establish a notice. Shuts is is their only suspect. We do know the suspect is a friend of the family. This wasnt a random act. This wasnt some sort of you know stranger that came into the home and murdered a child. Investigators say schultz may have spent the night in the victims home and some neighbors say may have been recently been on an Involuntary Mental Health hold. The remaining 28 Corinthian College campuses around the country will be shut down effecting thousands of students. The four profit schools healds college, wild tech, and Everest College they alerted 16,000 students by text and email. Corinthian ran into problems last year but kept 28 open. I was extremely skeptical. Because there are many differences between the onset of progression of the foul syndrome and human autism. Now he says hes discovered another link. The foul syndrome happens when too much of a calming hormone is released during birth. Autistic children have unusually high levels of a similar hormone. International relief efforts are ramping up now. California is sending search and rescue to that region. Right now if you call anyone in nepal you cant reach anyone. Its very difficult. You Doctors Without Borders are sending eight teams there. They will be providing assistance with their surgery call skills, sanitation relief and they will also be running a mobile clinic. The bay area is home to thousands from nepal. Alex savidge is joining us live in the studio now. Tell us about the desperate search for answers after that quake. Since the earthquake over the weekend the local Nepalese Community have been struggling to find out if the people they care about are okay. Yesterday in San Francisco nepalese immigrants came together for a fund raising vigil outside the ferry building. They urged people to give. The donations trickled in throughout the day but more importantly organizers raised quite a bit of awareness. The houses have collapsed. Its raining heavily and their livestock have died. Thats their way of living. Reporter the bay area is home to 7,000 nepalese people and for many of them of course this is an anxious time. Yesterday we caught up with neil and his family. They have been clued to the computer over the past couple days searching for news of the disaster. He told me most of his loved ones did survive the quake. He says that she did survive the quake but of course she is he is still worried about his wife. Two bay area men climbing Mount Everest they survived the avalanche. According to the less democrat scott holder of santa rosa and john reeder of kenwood barely escaped being caught in that avalanche. Good samaritan has been saved by first responders. It happened at 4 00 yesterday afternoon on kirk wood drive in concord. The man tried to put out a fire in a neighbors kitchen. He used five separate fire extinguishers he extinguishers. The man is the in the hospital in stable condition. Police arrested a soccer coach for sexting a 16yearold student. Student. She believes other girls were harassed by vargas. Vargas was arrested yesterday at his home in st. Helena. Police investigating a deadly stabbing. It stemmed from a fight in a parking lot. It happened saturday night about 7 30 on masonic way. The victim identified as 19 yearold dennis. Investigators say it appears he knew his attacker but they havent given us any information yesterday about the suspect. Finding a parking spot in San Francisco probably know can be challenging. But the city is hoping to change that. There are concerns about the cities program. The program was created in the 70s. People get permits and can pack in certain areas. The idea is to keep neighborhoods from tushing into parking lots. But the program has created conflict and inconvenience for their visitors. The Municipal Transportation Agency hopes to take a closer look and lowing those recommendations are expected to be presented this fall. So far seven of San Franciscos 11 supervisors say they accepted that challenge to ride muni for 22 days. It is a dare put forth by the Transit Riders Union to get city leaders to understand problems with Public Transportation and then secure funding for it. Activists gathered over the weekend in the east bay marking the First Anniversary of a farm growing in albany. Organizers want to make sure all of the land remains what they call urban farmland. Protest organizers say the proposed development would pave over six acres of the land. The land would be better used for growing food. Cal tran is closing the southbound marina vista ramp from interstate 680. Contractor is removing the old off ramp structure and building a new one. The ramp will be closed until october. Cal trans is setting up detours around it. Van ness street is open after being closed 72 hours for construction work there. Van ness between post street and geary was closed so crews could work on a new pedestrian tunnel for the new cpmc hospital. That will close again the first weekend of september.
