And they are doing some grinding work on that span for the next two weeks you will see closures westbound. They are doing it between 7 00 and 5 00. So it wont Effect People as much as it would obviously if they are doing it in the morning. But you have to be aware of that in case you use the san mateo bridge. The president of france says its not likely that there was any survivors. It was on its way from barcelona spain to dusseldorf, germany. Debris was found as high up in the french alps. The rescue operation will be very long and difficult because of the remote location of the crash. The plane sent a distress signal before they crashed. We do not yet know what has happened to flight 4u9525 my deepest sympathy goes to the family and friends and passengers and crew. We hope to find survivors. Also happening right foul the San Francisco sheriffs deputies are continuing to search for a jail inmate who escaped from custody last night. Alex savidge is at the hall of justice right now. Reporter this inmate took off his orange jump suit shortly after making his mistake last night. He was last seen in his just his boxer shorts. Sheriffs deputies are searching for him. We want to give you a look at the man they are searching for. He is about 56 tall, 180 pounds. He escaped from the hall of justice last night. A deputy was escorting him to the basement to take out the trash when the inmate took off running down the alley. The deputy chased after him but could not catch him. Deputies scoured the streets. He was being held on a marshals. We also understand that a number of other Neighboring Police departments have also been notified about this escape as well. So Law Enforcement obviously on the lookout for this man this morning. This escaped inmate. And obviously they are hoping the public will keep an eye out for him as well. Janine de la vega is joining us from san jose to talk about what the mayor wants to do with that extra money. Janine. Reporter today the mayor is meeting with the city council to talk about the budget and this year there is actually a small surplus. 8. 6million. When the city has surveyed people in the past, the same issue came up. People want money spent on public safety. Sam liccardo says his top priority is boosting Police Department staffing. He wants to restore the legal fight that has been happening between the police union and measure b. Pension reforms. Liccardo wants to send seth aside funding for over time for patrol officers but he also wants to add 26 new Community Service officers. Besides that, hes also interested in buying body worn cameras for police. Other plans include providing money for Affordable Housing that would help the homeless and keeping libraries open six days a week. There is also funding in the proposed budget for fire works for a fourth of July Celebration and under the plan san jose roads would also get attention. Tempers really boiled over last night in San Francisco at a Community Meeting about last tuesdays officer involved shooting where a woman was killed. That is a part of what happened. Police officers say 24yearold alice brown was shot after she led police on a stolen car smash into cars and buildings and endangered lives. Even aiming the car at Police Officers. However critics say the police should not have used deadly force. Police chief greg suhr told the crowd that officers only used their guns after brown repeatedly didnt listen to officers. Alice browns brother said his sister led a troubled life. Chief greg suhr said brown had two felony warrants for her arrest. And the license plates on the car she was driving had been switched. The original license plates were found inside the car. Meantime a different San Francisco Police Shooting was the focus of a protest. Police said officers responded to reports of a man acting erratically and niato was shot after the taser he was holding was mistaken for a handgun. About 40 Community Members that support the idea plan to be at tonights meeting. They are calling on the city council to pass a rent controlled ordnance. This comes after a group of people received more than a 20 rent increase. People throwing garbage in his pool. Running over a mailbox and someone shooting up his home with a pellet gun. San joses fire and Police Departments gave feedback on the response. Federal Aviation Administration requires airports conduct these kinds of full scale disaster drills once every three years. A new plan to add solar panels at Sacramento International airport is sparking major concerns. Its plan that would save the airport about 15 million in energy costs but some people are concerned that the panels would also attract birds which can then pose dangers to the planes. Airport Officials Say people should not worry about the solar panels attracting birds. They will look like water to them, attract if them. Anything that goes under has to go through an analysis. The solar panels will be installed north of the economy parking lot and near the airport fire station betweens runways. The solar panels could be up and running sometime next year. The Alameda County board of supervisors must decide today if winds can continue to use its current turbines. The Wind Power Company missed two delines to dead lines to upgrade their fleet. But now new privately operated bus are sparking a heated debate. They say people standing in line for those shuttles are blocking their driveways. Many people have decided to use the bus service instead of muni because they say it cuts their commute time in half. This afternoon the San Francisco board of supervisors will ask for a hearing to regulate those buses. Supervisors also say Traffic Studies must be conducted to determine the best solutions. The montague vta light rail system is closed this morning. Its making way for the construction of a new bart station. Yesterday was the first day of that work at montague expressway near the great mall. The closure is expected to last about five months. It will reopen after a pedestrian over crossing is built to link the future bart station with the vta light rail system. Bart services is expected to begin in that area in 2017. A San Francisco preschool will be back in session six the death of a teacher killed in a rock slide. 58yearold nancy bloom taught at zaire rap preschool in the presidio. An elderly woman lives there but she and her caretaker got out safely. The police surrounded the home and eventually a swat team and a police dog went inside. He was arrested. Oakland city that means even who lived there they now have to move out. Two men died in the unit where the fire started. Yesterday authorities identified them as davis latona and david mothomas. Ktvu has learned both of the men were artists. One of them had some of his work on display in a gallery in San Francisco. Fire investigators believe they know how the fire started. I think it might have been smoking in bed. Would be the term we would use. We found evidence of a lighter near the body that was near the point of origin. I knew both of those people. My brother used to live there. So close to me. So tragic. Unbelievable. Their friends say they are working on putting together a memorial for the victims. An arizona woman who spent more than 20 years on death row for the murder of her fouryear old son has been formerly exonerated. A judge dismissed all charges against deborah milky. Back in 1989 her son was dressed in his best outfit and was told he was going to see santa with his mothers roommate. Instead the man took him to the desert and shot him. Detectives accused milky of conspiracy to commit murder but that was based entirely on a confession she later gaved to a detective that has a history of misconduct. She was innocent.
