Right now 25 firefighters and firefighter recruits are getting a rare opportunity to see firsthand how a fire can consume a home. Allie rasmus is along with the tripping exercise that is now underway. We are on florida and carolina streets in vallejo. Right now this house 24 hours from now this house will burn to the ground as part of a Training Exercise. Vallejo fire recruits and about two dozen firefighters are taking part in this. Right now theyre taking a bit of a break. This is what the class looked like about an hour ago. This is all being led by a very experienced fire instructor. Our photographer was inside as that instructor started the training by lighting up a pile of fuel in the living room area of this old house. The flames spread and reached up to the ceiling in a matter of seconds as smoke and intense heat filled the room. Chip had to leave once the fire got too hot because he wasnt wearing the protective gear the firefighters are. The instructor was manipulating the fire to create different real life scenarios. So the firefighters in training can recognize and react to that fire behavior in the event of a real fire emergency. Hes especially telling them at this point in the stage of fire youre seeing a couch or bed in a corner of a room, what youre feeling may be hot but its not hot hot hot where you have to back out. Somebody can still be alive laying down on the ground. We want to save life and property. Reporter this house was donated for this Training Exercise by a Vallejo Church which owns the property it sits on. The Fire Department spoke to the neighbors to let them know not to be alarmed. Even so the man who owns the house next door says he was apprehensive about the whole thing. Well its good training. I like that. Im just concerned about the residential area that its in. Now again the training continues throughout the day. You can see the firefighters and the trainer the instructor south here taking a break. Its pretty hot out here so theyre getting some water and getting refueled. But the training will continue throughout the day and then tomorrow they will continue this training again. Apparently around this time tomorrow the plan is to burn the entire house down to the ground so the firefighters can get some training in real life hands on experience to see what that is like. Back to you guys. All right, allie rasmus live in vallejo. Thank you. Reporter during a routine oversight hearing wednesday, fbi director james comey faced tough questions over two investigations his agency launched in the runup to the 2016 president ial election. One involved russias attempts to influence the outcome of the race and possible connections Trump Campaign officials had with russian government agents. I would expect were not going to say another peep about it until were done. The second involved a letter comey himself wrote 11 days before the election. Informing lawmakers that the fbi had uncovered emails that appeared pertinent to the bureaus probe of Hillary Clintons private email server. Having told this congress we are done and theres nothing there, potentially finding the emails that would reflect on her intent from the beginning and not speak about it would require an act of concealment. Only later did it come to light that nothing new came out of that inquiry. Just yesterday Hillary Clinton publicly blaming comey for her stunning loss. I was on the way to wink until a combination of jim comeys letter on october 28th. President trump wasting in time responding.
