By some estimates a Million People are coming to our region because of super bowl 50, and as you can imagine traffic getting to the game could be a real mess. There were already traffic closures in effect. Janine de la vega has that. Reporter all morning long fans have been coming here to levi stadium to take pictures of it in the backdrop. Here along tasman drive this has been closed to vehicle traffic. Only humvees and Law Enforcement are able to escort people in who need to get into levi stadium. Tasman is going to be closed like this through the weekend for super bowl because traffic is going to ramp up as far as people coming into the stadium. Some Tech Companies told workers if they can work from home today, because its hard to navigate with the road closures. City officials are asking people to avoid the area around the stadium. People are encouraged to use Public Transit if they are going to the game. If you are not attending and you want to use light rail, there are going to be changes. The biggest one is if you are traveling from Mountain View and you need to get to santa clara, you will not be able to board light rail. Instead there will be buses to take you. Thats because Mountain View will be a major hub serving people coming from San Francisco on caltrain who are trying to get to the train. Trains have been dedicated to directly serve passengers headed to levi he is and you are only allowed to board if you have a prepaid ticket you can buy from the vtas mobile app. We have all our trains on the system. We will have extra buses that will also help with any backups that we need. New york city mayor bill de blasio toured that horrifying scene. He said the crane was being lowered because of strong winds just before it crashed to the ground, kill a man who was sitting inside of a car. Now, this happened during the morning commute near new york city hall. Construction crews were telling people to clear the area when the huge crane fell, and that alert may have saved a lot of lives. Now, the area has been blocked off. Nearby buildings were evacuated as a precaution, and an investigation is just beginning. Well, every student at santa clara university, they are now being toldly Health Officials be vaccinated against meningitis now that a third student tested pos impact from Foreign Exchange for the virus. A free vaccination clinic is being held at university right now. Two of the students who became sick on sunday are in the hospital. The other has been discharged. Health Officials Say the cases are related, and that the students are part of the same social group. Bacterial meningitis typically is spread through close contact by way of mucus or saliva. In some cases it can be deadly. A homeless man accused of stab ago chp officer in the neck last week made his Court Appearance and his bail is set at 5 million. More than a dozen chp officers were in the courtroom yesterday as that bail was set for noel corpus. The officers say its a show of solidarity for that injured officer, andre sir enco. Witnesses say he stabbed him tuesday and ran away before he was captured. He was ordered to come back to court on tuesday to be rained and faces several charges. Attempted murder, assault on a cop, resisting by use of force or threats, grabbing the holster, other charges as well. The officer is said to be in good condition, but he is facing several months of recovery. The founder, the leader of the group earth, wind and fire has died. Do you remember the 21st night of september. That was the incomparable maurice white. He founded earth, wind and fire in the 1960s. They were known for their music and their elaborate costumes. In 2000, they were inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame. Maurice white was diagnosed with parkinsons disease in the late 80s. He died at his home in los angeles at the age of 74. Four out of towners maybe they have never had a crab sandwich. You have been taking advantage of it. I have been taking advantage of it. Sunday there is a twist of the machine menu going to the game. So you got to sell me. What do you think i need to get my hands on . What are is you been cooking up here . Well, i got four items here you should surely try. So the Culinary Team here at the stadium with center plate has been working really hard to put together some of these offerings. Definitely you should get your hands on one of the locally baked sourdough bowls with our signature recipe clam chowder. Its very delicious. I expect that to be one of the most popular items, especially when the sun goes down. The second item that you should surely not miss will be this item here. This is our bay shrimp roll. Its also locally baked bread. Delicious shrimp salad inside. Lettuce and tomato. One of my favorites. Everyone you think is going to be talking about this next item here, and that is the big 50. The big 50 is a sausage that we had locally produced. Its really delicious. It has 50 signature ingredients that were created just for center plate just for super bowl 50. So definitely those three. Then we have another item thats always a long line on the concessions floor in our premium spaces, and thats this delicious one right here. We try to really make sure that this one is executed exactly right because people know what they are looking for when they try our local pacific crab sandwich. And this one is with the crab salad, some locally sourced tomatoes, and some delicious garlic bread. So those four definitely dont skip those on super bowl sunday. Chef, if i just want a hot dog and some nachos with that yellow fake cheese, can i even get that at levis, or is it all this highclass stuff . So we do offer nachos, but we try to take everything to the next level here. Everyone here in the bay area has a certain expectation when it comes to the food. So we do offer nachos, but we put our own little twist on it. We add cheese, fresh chopped scallions, green onions, a lovely white cheese sauce on to it that just takes it to the next level so that people who are used to going to all these fine dining excellent restaurants here in the bay area, we dont let them down when they come to the stadium. They are able to enjoy the equal quality, if not better quality, than they get in some of the local restaurants here. All right. And i was working are for a network that did not have the game and i had to go do a live shot for our newscast in like the Third Quarter of that game. So i had to go out in the parking lot, you know, assuming anybody who cares about the super bowl is watching the game, and talk about being live at the super bowl when i could have said hi to my mom and she wouldnt with have been watching that day. I had to go out in the parking lot in the Third Quarter. I came back in and now all of a sudden its a ballgame. That had the famous drive. The one where supposedly, and the tv timeout, i have had it verified by several 49er players, why joe montana to relax everybody saw john candy at the oppositend of the field in the end zone and said to harris barton, who was kind of always nervous in situations like that, hey, harris, isnt that john candy down there . It loosened the mood within the huddle and the 49ers went down on that famous drive that ended in joe montana to john taylor touchdown pass that won the game and won them their third super bowl championship. At San Francisco city hall there was a Super Bowl Party last night and during that party there was a grouch about 40 protesters, supporters of mario woods, the man who was shot and killed by San Francisco police in recent weeks. The group held signs in protest for about an hour. They called once again for the police chief, greg suhr, to resign. Joining us now to talk more about this is our legal analyst michael car doze a. What is it about the super bowl protest and mario woods supporter here . Its a great forum. They will get a lot of attention. Not that they werent getting attention before. We have spoken about this. Its a great cause and they are doing it peacefully. So kudos to the protesters. No arrest. Right. But when you protest, it can get out of hand at any time. So i think both the police and the protesters have to be extraordinarily careful. Lets focus on the fact that there is going to be a federal inquiry into the mario woods shooting. What could come out of it and how might it change the San Francisco Police Department . First of all, you think all players involved are happy that thats going down. The Police Department. The mayor. The protesters. You have the federal government coming in. They will take a close look at that. When you stop and think about it, that film of mario woods, when he was shot and killed, thats really in the eye of the beholder. You have a chief that theyre calling for his resignation. Personally, i think thats unfair. He is a great chief. You have a situation where as a chief youre leading all these police officers. You have to have their respect. So you have to think he is not going to offer them up unless its really egregious. He is backing his men up, as well as he should. The government will make recommendations. At some point i assume the woods family will bring a lawsuit. You have to admit this u. S. Department of justice review would not be happening unless those protests were happening . Well, thats probably true. I mean, should it have happened . Yes, it should. Yes, the protests do get certain things accomplished. Then again, its how you do that. You dont want to violate the law. They seem to be doing it properly. I do see a lawsuit coming from the woods family. Against the city . Against the city. Against the Police Department. Probably personally against the chief. When that happens, if they come to a negotiation as part of that negotiation they will make certain stipulations and say, okay, we agree, as a Police Department, to do these things. I assumele it be a federal court case. Then the federal court will have jurisdiction over the Police Department. And thats how they will enforce the changes they need. All right. We kept the food footprint small given the amount of people coming through. Six vendors not a whole lot. We wanted folks to get out into the surrounding communities and the restaurants right here near super bowl city. What is the best thing you have eaten all week . Oh, gosh. I havent eaten a whole lot. I have been really busy. I had some prime rib last night. The house prime rib is always good. Thats always good. I asked daniel lurie about this. He kind of skipped the question. But what can you tell us about the Host Committee and another bid to get a super bowl here . Do you think it will happen . Oh, wow. I dont know. But amongst you guys do you think you could pull it off . Would you be excited to do a bid now that you have one under your belt . We said from day one the measure of success is if you poll everyone on day eight, i think we have delivered on that promise and through super bowl city and the fans experience we are delivering right now. San Francisco Police arrested a man suspected in the fatal stabbing of joseph razo. A data analyst for apple who is also a popular nightclub d. J. Nester conchola was arrested wednesday night. He is accused of stabbing razo and another man last week outside after nightclub. Razo died tuesday night. Police say the investigation goes on and there is no word yet of a motive. Well, there were political fireworks as the democratic president ial candidates debated last night before tuesdays New Hampshire primary. I am very proud to be the only candidate up here who does not have a super pac, who is not raising huge sums of money from wall street. Now, the polls are showing vermont senator Bernie Sanders has a strong lead in New Hampshire. Among other things, he accused Hillary Clinton of being part of the political establishment. Hillary clinton, the former secretary of state, fought back saying sanders proposals like universal healthcare are not realistic. I am not going to make promises i cant keep. I am not going to talk about big ideas like single payer and then not level with people about how much it will cost. Now, Hillary Clinton was also questioned about using a private email server when she was secretary of state, and she said she is not worried about the possibility she may be indicted. On the republican race, a new poll shows donald trump still has a wide lead among the likely Republican Voters in New Hampshire. Trump is leading with 29 support. He is followed by florida senator marco rubio with 18 . Ted cruz is in third place. This poll was conducted by cnn after the iowa caucuses. Tomorrow night the republican president ial candidates will debate again in manchester, New Hampshire. Well, what some are calling the super bowl of beer is happening today in santa rosa. Its a party the nfl holds to honor its best and brightest. There is a San Francisco company in charge of catering that party. Claudine wong takes us into the kitchen. Reporter on the San Francisco bay area for the biggest Football Game of the year. The team that caters says its focused on one thing. Bringing that San Francisco look and experience to the table. Reporter they started the journey to that table two years ago when they got a call from the super bowl Host Committee. Contacted us actually early 2014. They had heard that we were women owned and operated. We were very happy they reached tout us and we were happier that we were qualified for their one of their criteria. Reporter those criteria came from a commitment from the Host Committee. That super bowl 50 would be about diversity and that meant reaching out to lgbt businesses as well as companies owned by minorities, veterans, and women. Its owned and operated by women. The exposure is going to be terrific. Reporter exposure for a company that has been part of the San Francisco landscape for three decades serving everyone from rock stars to patients. We are a luxury brand. There is no question about that. We are top of the league in our business. We are cutting edge. Reporter the company says it was one of the first to be certified sustainable and green. It boasts its own pastry chef and a team that has already outgrown their San Francisco space. We are a growing company. Eight years our Typical Party was 400, 500. We do a lot of events. Dont get me wrong. Now our typical parties are seven hundred, a thousand, 1,500. That tends to be more of what were getting these days. Reporter now the company is relishing the opportunity to share in the spotlight brought about by super bowl 50. It will be their food that visitors from around the world get to taste at the hospitality event at one market. Just hurricane like tense on the seventh floor. And basically were going to be carmed out in that tent for the entire week. They are doing all sorts of events. They are doing breakfast. They are doing brunch. They are doing cocktail receptions. They are doing executive dinners. Reporter and it is their food that will be served at the dinner that salutes the best players of the 20152016 season. We are doing the nfl honors at the bill graham auditorium. Thats the darling of the events for the week. Its also creating a lot of excitement and a lot of buzz because its almost like the oscars of the super bowl week. Reporter they are partnering with other local businesses to showcase what this region has to offer. We are at the center of the most wonderful food in the world here in San Francisco. So we wanted to reinforce the San Francisco experience and bring it to our clients tables. Reporter an experience they hope stays with people long after the game is over. Macys sponsoring another Fireworks Show near super bowl city. That show starts at 10 00 tonight. The previous Fireworks Show on saturday, which is what were showing you here, and it did cause some problems. The National Parks service tells the chronicle some 200 gallons of fireworks debris washed ashore at aquatic park. Macys is going to make sure that doesnt happen again. You know what i loved about covering the giants parade . You put your arms like this and look at this crowd out here. This is the best crowd. Super bowl City Activities out here.
