Dive teams arrived soon after and were able to pull him out of the water, but he died at the hospital. A person who got caught under a bart train in Downtown Berkeley is recovering tonight. Bart Officials Say the Downtown Berkeley station on shattuck reopened around 10 30 this morning after it was shut down about two hours after the accident. Theres still no word on how the person ended up on the tracks and got caught underneath the train. Firefighters and rescue crews were able to pull the victim out from under the train and was rushed to Highland Hospital in oakland. The children up to 12 years old each wrote letters to santa asking for various presents. Each year, San Francisco firefighters collect thousands of toys for those in need. There is a huge need out there, not only for people like low income people, but working people also, because toys are so expensive. And we want to make sure that every kid has a nice holiday and has a gift to open. The event organizers say they received more than 1000 letters this year, so they are still asking for donations for another toy giveaway. The Los Angeles Police department is investigating a deadly shooting by an officer at a hospital in torrence. 26yearold Ruben Herrera was being treated at the harbor Ucla Medical Center after he was arrested. Witnesses say herrera was calm and cooperative up until he was about to be released from the hospital. Thats when police say he attacked them and reached for an officers gun. Officers tried to slow him down with the stun gun first before they opened fire. Herrera was initially arrested for throwing bottles at an Apartment Building and was taken to the hospital after getting into a physical altercation with police. Police are looking for a gunman who killed two people in a parked car in salinas yesterday. One of the victims was a teenaged boy. Police say they found the two victims in a car at navidad creek park around 5 00 p. M. Officers think someone walked up to the vehicle and opened fire. One of the victims was 17 years old and died at the scene. The other victim died while he was in surgery at the hospital. Police believe the gunman got away in a darkcolored suv. San mateo county sheriffs deputies are asking for help in the search for three men they say robbed a valero gas station in menlo park at gunpoint. They say it happened last night along marsh road near highway 101. Sheriffs deputies say the men walked in and demanded money from the cashier. The suspects got away with an unknown amount of cash. Upper level winds 150 miles per hour, trying to time the storms would be dangerous. We try to do that here in the weather center. Well have the timing on our next system approaching the bay area. In fact, right now we have rain pushing in, moving in from the north. You can see on live Storm Tracker 2, the setup right now, the main focus of the organized rainfall has been up to the north of the bay area. With that, they are going to pick up the most rain over the next couple of days. They already have a flood watch posted. Lets bring it up for you, down toward mendocino county. This begins tomorrow morning, 11 00 a. M. Until tuesday at 7 00 a. M. They could pick up several inches of rainfall possibly on the order of around 3 to 4 inches. A few isolated spots in the hills, coastal hills, up to our north could have amounts approaching 7 inches. Look whats happening right now on the radar, with the coverage out there. In fact, we have a pretty good steady downpour in the north bay. Santa rosa, petaluma, novato, coming in toward sebastopol, darker shades of green corresponding to more moderate, steady downpours. Pushing the maps to the south, as you can see closer to San Francisco, oakland and hayward, you can pick out the coverage. Wet roadways driving across the bay bridge right now. The activity all day long has been to the north of san jose, showers all day long. They are reporting mostly cloudy skies, but some rain near the Santa Cruz County coastline. By looking at this, you can see the rain pushing into the region. In fact, we have some rain drops here hitting the sidewalk here. Tomorrow, another system approaches our coastline. Also, the winter solstice kicks in tomorrow evening. By christmas, we could be tracking another round of showers for Christmas Eve.
