Now we move onto the next state in the lineup and that state is ohio. John kasich is the governor of ohio. It was not expected that he would have that difficult of a time in ohio but donald trump has rallied somewhat. Just six percent of the vote has come in. John kasich has 40 to Donald Trumps 36 percent. Ted cruz at 14 . On the democratic side, a big night for Hillary Clinton with 68 of the vote so far but again only about one percent of the vote has come in, in those states. We are looking at North Carolina, we dont have a graphic but right now donald trump leading in North Carolina, he has 80 of the vote there. Followed by ted cruz let me back up. Donald trump has 41 of the vote in North Carolina, ted cruz has 33 and then kaisch and marco rubio fall behind that. On the democratic side in North Carolina Hillary Clinton has 58 to Bernie Sanders 38 . Those are the only states where numbers are out. Still waiting on illinois and missouri. And we will have those numbers as soon as we get them, the polls have just closed in those two states. Again, ken, ohio, crucial for john kasich, he has said he will drop out if he doesnt win his home state and also florida, marco rubio has not said he will drop out if he doesnt win but a lot of people think that. It was expected if he wins any state it would be florida, thats his home state and has not done that. Thats the big question. How much longer is he going to try to stay in the race and the same question on the democratic side for Bernie Sanders, how long will he stay in the race, these are not winner take all states for the democrats, he can pick up delegates but if Hillary Clinton gets the big victories of 60, 70, percent, it will make it much more difficult for Bernie Sanders. The math on the republican side is favoring donald trump and he is winning the winner take all states and moving forward and you are right, it puts a lot of pressure on marco rubio and john kasich to decide whether they are going to stay in this. They rallied outside 555 california street. They say trump owns 30 of the building. The protestors accuse trump of being racist but the president of the Hispanic Assembly disagrees. He says trump is not racist and his campaign is about the economy. It will be a super tuesday for trump. He will carry florida and probably ohio and california he will carry because these people tend to speak out about trump. They dont know trump and b, part of a process that is archaic, this is a rebellion against these people. Trump opponents making sure that he is defeated. New at five, two controversial incidents involving the Oakland Police and ktvu has learned that the department wants to fire a sergeant involved in both of those incidents. Our Crime Reporter henry lee is in the newsroom now with exclusive details. The first incident a fatal officerinvolved shooting. And a week later the second incident with off duty drinking in a bar and ended with a woman in the Oakland Hills that was assaulted with a home invader and turned out to be an officer. Four Oakland Police officers shots and killed Richard Perkins on november 15th after he allegedly pointed a fake gun in east oakland. And pulled out a replica pistol from the waist bands and pointed it in the everywhere direction of the officers. Among the officers was Sergeant Turner, a 7 year veteran seen here in an earlier interview. Three weeks after the shooting, sources say a group of offduty officers was drinking at monahan bar in oakland and the officers went to Sergeant Turners house and one got lost on the way there. He ended up on the wrong street and allegedly drunk showed up at a womans home and jumped on and attacked her and demanded entry the woman says. She is in Alameda Deputy probation officer. I told me kids to go back inside and they were crying. And they were really afraid. The officer was arrested on suspicion of assault and public intoxication but no formal charges have been filed. Today ktvu learned that the city no longer wants Sergeant Turner and at least two other officers that had been together that night including a rookie on the force. Sources tell us that their attorneys decline comment. Turner wrote a response in response to Police Shooting protest. As an officer and sergeant that supervises officers i am concerned with the remarks being levied against Police Officers but as a person of mixed race and in the city of oakland i am concerned with how the department can engage more effectively with all of our citizens and deliver our services in a way that is not only fair but also effective. Today Perkins Family and supporters gathered at the spot where he was killed. They said perkins was trying to show the officers that he had a fake gun and never pointed it at them. My baby brother. Justice will be served. Angry at the police. They are frustrated because they only got the final autopsy report last week. Today i told Perkins Family about the same sergeant being involved in both incidents now facing termination. What goes through my mind, they are trying to cover up and that is why they were drinking. They knew what they did was wrong and tried to cover it up. Two wrongs dont make a right. Oakland police declined to go on camera but said in some cases legal force may be necessary and our greatest value is human life and the community we serve. As far as the other incident the other officers could face various levels of discipline that may include up to termination, frank. Henry, i feel bad for the family of that victim there but did they talk at all about why he was Walking Around with a fake gun by any chance . I asked them about that and they didnt want to say other than to suggest that this is oakland and he may have needed that for protection. And what about this officer that they want to fire, what is the next step . We know he will potentially fight it and we know Oakland Police have issues with making the discipline stick. Learning more about the Sexual Harassment allegations against a berkeley basketball coach. Assistant coach Yann Hufnagel has been relieved of his duties and that his termination is pending. Today the results of an internal investigation revealed that Yann Hufnagel admits he tried to trick a reporter into going into his apartment for sex. He brought her into the parking garage and closed the door with the remote so she couldnt get out without his help. He then repeatedly asked her for sex. Cal Officials Say Yann Hufnagel violated the universitys Sexual Harassment policy. Police are asking residents to stay in their homes as officers search for a shooting suspect. Law enforcement officers including the s. W. A. T. Team have been combing the neighborhoods near delaware street for hours. Police were called there about 11 30 after neighbors her shots fired. When officers arrived they found a 28yearold man suffering gunshot wounds. The victim is in Critical Condition at this hour. Streets were shut down for a good part of the day but police have opened san pablo back to traffic. The california Highway Patrol had a bell ringing ceremony for a colleague that died in the line of duty over the weekend. The ceremony was held at the ch p academy in West Sacramento for officer nathan taylor. He had responded to an accident on interstate 80 during heavy snow on saturday night. While he was directing traffic, he was hit by an out of control suv. The 35yearold officer is survived by his wife, three young children, a sister and three brothers including one who is a ch p officer in the clear lake area. He is obviously emotionally wounded but strong and proud of his valley and he joined because of his brother. They had dreams and aspirations working in a car. A tragic loss. Officer taylor was a six year veteran of the Highway Patrol. He worked in the gold run area east of sacramento but began his chp career with an assignment in the san jose area. Things finally starting to return to normal in the east bay. Tonight new at 5 30, the major steps the city of moraga took after thousands of people lost their Natural Gas Service. Plus. A rare and major league retailing star is about to make its move in the Livermore Valley. This front window is the bedroom and they are lucky the car did not crash there. It was this brick wall that stopped the car from going inside the house. The man said he was in the kitchen when it all happened. Police say around 1 00 this afternoon they got a call about a suspicious car in the neighborhood about a quarter of a mile away from sweet wood drive in richmond. When Police Officers spotted that car, they made a uturn to pull it over but when they came around the corner, they noticed that car had driven straight in the front of this house. Again that homeowner was inside the kitchen when this accident happened. And he is very lucky that they were not hurt. Why did it happen to us . Why. We didnt hurt anybody. Tried to help so i dont know. All i know is that we were in the front door. There were two people in the car. One of them, the driver took off running and is still on the run. A passenger was arrested nearby at the high school. Police say that inside the car they found a bag full of stolen electronics and now trying to figure out if those electronics belong to people that live in this neighborhood. All we know about that one person arrested that he is an 18yearold man from oakland. But this family here, again breathing a sigh of relief that they are safe. Reporting in richmond, Cristina Rendon. The question is will marco rubio stay in the race now that he has lost his home state . Marco rubio is speaking right now and we will listen for a minute. I have lived paycheck to paycheck and grew up paycheck to paycheck and i know what is like to figure out to find the money to fix the air conditioner. I know my parents struggled and people doing that and i know immigration is broken and no one understands it better than i do. My parents are immigrants and grandparents and jeanettes parents are immigrants. I have seen the good, bad and ugly. I have battled my whole life against the socalled elite and the people that think that i needed to wait my turn or wait in line or it wasnt our chance or time. So i understand all of these frustrations. And yet when i decided to run for president , i decided to run a campaign that was realistic about these challenges but one that was optimistic about what lies ahead for our country. I know that we have a right to enforce our immigration laws. But we also have to have a realistic approach to fix it. I know that we are living through this extraordinary Economic Transformation that is really disruptive in peoples lives. Machines are replacing them. Their pay is not enough. I know it is disruptive but i know this new economy has opportunity. I know america cant solve the worlds problems but when america doesnt leave, it leaves behind a vacuum and that leads to chaos and most of all i know first hand that ours is a special nation. Because where you come from here doesnt decide where you get to go. Thats how a 44yearold son of a bartender and maid, thats how i decide that in fact i too can run for president of the United States of america. The nb aboard anonymously approved a plan to make one of the citys most dangerous roads safer for pedestrians and cars. Talking about a stretch of lombard street from franklin to francisco. Rob roth is live on lombard street where accidents are more and more frequent. Rob. Reporter we are not talking about the more famous crooked part of lombard street, the city plans to overhaul the street making it safer for pedestrians crossing it and for drivers trying to drive over it. People on lombard street say crossing it can be scary. They have to do something. Reporter the number of accidents involving pedestrians is 7 times higher than the city average. The crashes are about the same level according to the San Francisco transportation agency. When the light changes dont go immediately because somebody will run that light. It will be a one mile stretch from San Francisco to francisco safer. It will improve safety. The nb awill widen the sidewalks and median strips and build bus areas and put in routes like this for pedestrian crossings and require cars to start further back from the crosswalk. Allowing cars to see pedestrians walking across the street better and it will allow for pedestrians to have more time to cross the street. And beyond the 12 Million Dollar price tag, the project comes at another cost, the land would remove 50 parking spots, that doesnt sit well with many businesses including the owner of the nail salon. The parking is hard and we need all of the parking we can get. Having wider sidewalks and not getting hit by cars is a big positive for people. Louis they have had Severe Weather in the upper ohio and mississippi valleys but everybody else getting a break. Maybe a little bit of rain in seattle. The story on our coast is this High Pressure ridge being pushed to the top there. The arrows representing the jet stream that is pushed north. And that sets us up with a dry pattern, no two ways about it. The ridge of High Pressure will be with us tomorrow and the next day and right through saturday for the most part and that means dry. Maybe a little bit of coastal, maybe a little patch of fog and a few high clouds. Basically more sunshine and warmer daytime highs and 5 degrees warmer in napa than last night and 7 degrees warmer in concord and 7 degrees warmer in livermore. Than it was last night this time. Last night this time was 57 and tonight it is 67 degrees. A warm day out there and tomorrow promises to be warmer still. So as we take a look at the model, for temperatures, yellows are the 70s. There they are. Lots of 60s, tomorrow, mid 60s to perhaps mid70s. A warmer day tomorrow, thursday is going to end up being the warmest day of the week with highs on thursday, perhaps in the upper 70s if we look real hard. No real clouds to speak up and the ridge of High Pressure dominant for thursday and friday. And then the winds shift. High pressure begins to break down and we set up with a potentially wet pattern as we head into sunday and monday which will be great. Doesnt look like a major event but a major shift. This pattern lasted all of january for us, this is only going to last about the next three days. Enjoy it. Even the thorny issue of traffic is made less thorny because long ago it was zoned and approved with roads and utilities and infrastructure for a slightly smaller big box store. A mudslide in the Santa Cruz Mountains shut down a main route between gilroy and watsonville. It happened on highway 152. Both lanes blocked aen crews clearing trees and a geologist will be assessing the slide area. The ch p has no estimated time for a reopening the roadway. Drivers can use highway 129 as a detour. City leaders in moraga working with homeowners impacted by a land slide there over the weekend. Two families forced to leave their homes after heavy rain caused the ground to shift. It happened on augusta drive near the moraga country club. One of the homeowners noticed the erosion at the bottom of the hillside a couple of months ago and the shift in the soil caused the deck on the homes to slide down the hill. Whatever work has to be done there will have to be done permitted. They will have to go through the process and make sure that it is done right. As far as again the homeowners if it is red tagged, i dont know, there may be implications for them insurance wise. East bay mud owns the land that slid. Neighbors say the agency should have done more to prevent the ground from moving but officials with east bay mud claims it couldnt have been prevented saying the problem is common during heavy rains. Things are returning to normal in a part of moraga where a sinkhole developed and ruptured a gas line. John sasaki has more. Officials have taken a process in the process . Reporter yes, they proclaim a state of local emergency and it is intended to streamline the response. Some of the heavy lifting is now over at the moraga sinkhole as crews used a backhoe to remove the sidewalk from the hole. Until we get there and see what the situation is, we can make an assessment of what caused it. Officials say 90 of the 2600 customers without gas starting on sunday afternoon are now back up and running. More than 300 homes are not. We are going to keep 100 Service Representatives in the area until we have cut that number down more. Ted fulmers restaurant lost gas shutting it down on monday. We had a catering for 35 in the morning. We missed out and monday lunches is one of our busier lunches. Back open for business fulmer is frustrated by the diverted traffic. We are off by 80 . Across the street 24hour fitness was closed and a day later neighbors were happy to return as they got their own gas service back. I heard a dog bark at dnight and i thought this cant be. And i appreciate it. At least we got the gas on. The town has declared a state of local emergency. To continue and make whatever adjustments to procure Emergency Services and to sign contracts and get all of the resources that we need in here to address this problem as quickly and efficiently as we possibly can. A 9yearold girl named carly had the moment of the day when she brought a message of thanks for p g and e. I made a sign for p g and e because they got the gas back on in my house and peoples houses. There is no time line for finishing the work on this sinkhole and that means this part of the boulevard will remain closed for the foreseeable future. In the south bay thousands in campers are back in business. They had to be evacuated because of flooding. It sits by u v is creek. It rose and washed over a bridge forcing the campers to evacuate. The people were forced to stay in their cars while others found shelter in a church. A girl says a man exposed to herself in palo alto. People were call at 7 15 by the childs mother. The suspect approached the teenager and smiled at her to pet her dog and when he stood up he lifted his sweat shirt to expose his private parts. Police have created a sketch of the suspect. A white man between 25 and 30 with tan skin and average height and skinny build and black hair. Votes are being counted in five primary states as donald trump and Hillary Clinton try to put distance between themselves and the other candidates. Lets go to ken wayne in the newsroom with the latest. The vote in julie. Lets look at the numbers. Donald trump has won florida with 46 of the vote. To marco rubios 28 . Marco rubio because of this outcome has decided that he is ending his campaign for the white house. Now on the democrat side, Hillary Clinton has been declared the winner in florida with 65 of the vote to Bernie Sanders 33 . From ohio, Ohio Governor john kasich has won his home state by defeating donald trump 44 to 36 and on the democratic side in ohio, the numbers here, Hillary Clinton has beat Bernie Sanders, 68 to 31 . So a big night for donald trump and Hillary Clinton as they have won their states and there are more votes coming in and both of those candidates are leading in North Carolina, in missouri and in illinois. So the outcome of this race, the headline is marco rubio is out, donald trump is rolling alone as is Hillary Clinton. It will be interesting to see about the delegates that marco rubio had, he had 163 delegates, where are they going to donald trump, ted cruz or john kasich. We will have to see and if there is anymore pressure on john kasich to bow out. Probably not likely since he won ohio today. If john kasich does win his home state of ohio, what does that mean for donald trump . With marco rubio out, you have those supporters of marco rubio going to another candidate. Which candidate are they going to . It is unlikely in my eyes that they will go to donald trump because they would be supporting donald trump already. They will go to someone against donald trump, will that be ted cruz or john kasich and there is those 163 delegates that is a significant amount of delegates. So that is the question as we roll forward. Ted cruz is going to be putting more pressure on john kasich to drop out. It depends on how those two candidates do in the next election cycle and the next group of primaries to determine which one will be the other challenger to donald trump. What do you think Bernie Sanders has to win to keep his white house hopes alive . He hasnt been doing as well as he had hoped and we will look at illinois. There is a lot of delegates in illinois on the democratic side and i can tell you what they are. 182 democratic delegates in illinois. Not a winner take all. If he can pick up a fair number of delegates in illinois and the other advantage for Bernie Sanders he has a huge grassroots campaign, all he has to do is put out a tweet and say i need 5, 10 or 20, he has a Million People or more and he can rack up the Campaign Finances and that keeps him in the race. But its all math. How many delegates can he get and as Hillary Clinton continues to win, she is piling up more delegates than Bernie Sanders. And we just got late news coming in crossing the wires that Hillary Clinton has won the democratic primary in ohio. Grike bay area Virgin America listened to its passengers and is now launched a new nonstop flight to denver. The first flight took off from sfo at 7 30 this morning. Sir richard bran son and denvers mayor were on board. Virgin america will fly three daily round trip flights between San Francisco and denver international. Los Angeles Police say forensic tests on a knife found on o j simpsons former estate are ongoing. Tmz reports that dna tests on that knife were inconclusive and reported the soil surrounding the knife degraded any dna that may have existed. Investigators shall trying to determine whether the knife was used in the 1994 murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and ron goldman. The knife was apparently discovered by a construction worker and turned over to a Police Officer more than ten years ago. Park Officials Say the first eg hatched saturday on Santa Cruz Island and the second chick popped out of its shell yesterday. By the 1960s, bald eagles disappeared from the Channel Islands because of ddt contamination. The parents of the two chicks brought to the island ten years ago as part of ongoing recovery effort. So the bottom line here is Hillary Clinton has won three of the five primary states. The other two states, the results have not come in but she is leading in those states as well.
