The press conference just wrapped up about 15 minutes ago. The San Francisco Police Department did the best they could to update the media what motivated jimmy lam. Even though the suspect jimmy lam instead, this investigation is open. Heres what they told us this afternoon. They told us its not clear why he targeted those three victims. He did disclose that jimmy lam used to stolen guns. One a mac 10 which was stolen in utah and also a semi automatic pistol which was stolen in napa. They found the backpack with a round of ammunition and they told us that only the mac 10 was used in the shooting. This mac 10 held 20 rounds in a magazine. As for how jimmy lam was able to get the weapons into a secure facility , police would only say those rest with ups. Have you guys determine how he got into the facility with two firearms . Jimmy lam is an employee of ups and was in the building for employment purposes. Any information that we have as to where he came in and the security and the magnetometers are video information is best answered by ups. Reporter police also added they executed a search warrant at jimmy lams home. I did ask if there was some sort of a manifesto and they wouldnt get into those details of the investigation. One thing that was interesting, police said they are morning with ups community. Many of those drivers deliver packages here to the police station. They work with them doing fundraising and all sorts of events. They said it was disappointing for the Police Department and they mourn with the families and they credited the Police Department with the Quick Response and doing a great job and having a minimal deaths in the shooting. How do we know the victims were targeted . Reporter well, none of the shooting was captured on video. They did tell us they interviewed over 100 witnesses and the witnesses told them that jimmy lam walk through other employees and when after his targeted victims specifically. All of those details tell them that jimmy lam was complaining of being bullied and being disrespected. That does give them some details as to why he went after those victims still lots of questions. Police are looking into the death of a 102 yearold woman as suspicious. Officers found Mildred Williams dead in her home on 22nd avenue near east 30th street. Neighbors telling ktvu she lived with her son and was never seen outside. Struck her learning more about the death of a 17yearold girl who fell more than 300 feet off of a cliff. Responders say tori larocca was in an area restricted to the public but it is a popular spot among visitors. We are joined live from the city with more on what led up to this tragedy. Reporter friends say she was hiking with two other girls on one of the highest spots you can go to atlanta in. The trail had just laid out a link it to rest when she slipped and fell. Its in an area that is restricted but easily accessible. Friends say the 17yearold was an adventurous spirit said to be a senior at Saint Ignatius college for next year. Last night around 6 30 she and two girlfriends were hiking when she slipped and plunged more than 300 feet to her death. It kills me to think of someone falling over there. Its terrible. Reporter it was faster for lifeguards to get her by jet ski rather than rescue ropes team. She suffered massive head trauma and later died in the ambulance. It was horrible. Its a breathtaking view of the golden gate bridge, but its an area restricted to the public. In fact, a 26yearold seattle woman plunged to her death in the same spot in october 2014. A woman searching for her dog after the burglar stole the dog from her home. She says her teacup york shire terrier was stolen yesterday. Police say a resident shot and killed two people attempting to rob him. Surveillance video shows the two alleged robbers walking up the driveway of a home on burke street late last night. The thieves confronted the resident in his garage were there is a large safe. They ordered him to open the safe not knowing there was a loaded gun inside the safe. The neighbor says the resident grabbed the gun and shot both men. Hes always in the garage. He sits in there and watches television. Once he opened up the safe, he pulled out the gun and started firing. The two men were killed and they were both in their 30s. Their names have not been released. Why want to vote guilty in this case . They are really emotional arguments, but there are people that say Police Officers have a difficult job. This guy said his arm was stuck in the car and he thought he was about to die. He almost point blank shot mr. Dubois in the head. The videos did not square with what the officer said. So how did they get to a hung jury . I dont know. Is a difficult to get a conviction in this case quick its more difficult to for prosecutors and in most cases. We put those officers out there in the street. We expect them to protect us. When they say their life is in danger and a jury believes that, they give them the benefit of the doubt. Your protecting us and who are we to say whether you felt that fear or not. In this case it sounded like this officer, and remember, it was a traffic stop. Let him go. There were just 15 years old. They both took their lives days after watching a controversial show on netflix called 13 reasons why. Its about a young girl who commit suicide. Both families say that show was a trigger for their daughters. Frank sommerville has the story. Reporter this is bella. She was just three days away from her 16th birthday. My daughter was a hero. She believed in protecting her brothers. She stood up for them. Reporter bello was a sophomore. She has straight as in writing was her passion. She loved english. I love you, mommy. All i could see was that she was on her knees bent over like she was digging deep in her closet. I thought she was joking around with me or something. There was nothing to find in her closet. I laughed and said hey, bella, what are you doing . And then i got closer and saw that she had found herself. She was so blue. Reporter elliss father caught her down. She was on life support but doctors finally said there was no hope. Bella had been battling depression. She had been bullied since middle school. In the weeks before she took her life she seemed happy. She was doing great. We put her in a new school. She had no friends. This is priscilla. She was also 15 and was a sophomore at aragon high school. She lives with her uncle. She was precocious. She was very determined. I just remember her brothers running and screaming how priscilla hung herself. We took her down and called 911. We tried to do what we could, cpr. I think it was pretty obvious. She was cold. Reporter this was the last picture taken of priscilla. She was in chinatown. Priscilla have battle depression and other issues and looking back, peter says he mr. Signs. Her grades were going down and she told them she hated school. I feel like the worst adult. Reporter priscilla and bella did not know each other. Both of them committed suicide four days apart. Right after they watch the netflix drama 13 reasons why. 13 reasons why is based on a book about a young girl in high school who commit suicide and leaves behind searching cassettes to be given to the people who she says were the reason why she took her life. It is very graphic. Especially the twominute scene where she slits her wrists in about job. [music] reporter both men feel the show was a trigger for bella and priscilla and that the message of the show is that suicide is the only answer. I feel it is dangerous for that small percentage of young adults who the show could become a trigger for them. I feel that the show gives only one alternative. And that one alternative is suicide. The writer of the show is very adamant about defending it. He is quoted as saying many people are accusing the show of glamorizing suicide and i feel very strongly that we did the exact opposite. What we did was portray suicide and we portrayed it as very ugly and very damaging. John herndon, vehemently disagrees. Theres no word to describe my contempt for the people that did this. You can convince me they were trying to attract peoples attention to the issue of teen suicide by showing a little girl killing herself. Theres nothing positive about that.
