Making sure this fire doesnt reignite. Behind me we can see one of the homes here. The garage door is completely singed. Some people were allowed back inside their homes. Others were only able to grab some belongings. The rim field fire broke out after 3 30 yesterday. It jumped a creek, skipped a block wall, and hit a wood framed roof. Police went door to door evacuating folks. Many homeowners were at work and rushed home to see what was left. Actually it was really bad at one point. There was big plumes of smoke and dark smoke. I was more shocked. Its always so calm on this street and for Something Like this to happen you can see everybody outside. Crazy. Reporter firefighters had the blaze under control by 6 00 last night. Again two homes were lost. Four more sustained damage. No price tag on this damage but luckily no one was hurt. Investigators are still trying to figure out how the fire started. Police say the bus was sideswiped during a chase in downtown oakland that ended a short time later with the arrests of three teenage carjacking suspects. No one within another bus was hurt. The chp will begin running track breaks around 7 00 tonight ahead of the bridge shut down at 8 00. The shut down will continue throughout the long Labor Day Weekend so crews can finish work on the new eastern span of the bay bridge. The bridge will open early Tuesday Morning but its possible it could open late in the day on monday which is labor day. The bay bridge shut down will take a big economic toll on many bay area businesses. Many stores and club owners are expecting a very slow Labor Day Weekend. The bay bridge closure is causing headaches for business owners. Many flower shops are asking their customers to order early because its drivers have to draw up complicated delivery plans. As you can see people running for their lives there as bullets are fired from the bus. It happened at ninth and folsom streets. A woman in her 20s may have been grazed by a bullet but she is okay.
