Is to raise 781 Million Dollars over ten years. To build new schools. And repair old ones. Theyll do it through increases in sales taxes. Or a combination of sales and property taxes. Tonight we got a closer look at how much each option would cost the average taxpayer. If its just a sales tax increase. The rate would go from 7. 725 percent in washoe county. To 8. 265 percent. Just over a halfa percent bump. Thats estimated to cost the average citizen an additional 7 dollars and 26 cents a month. If its a combination of sales and property taxes. Sales would go up. 425 percent. An additional 5. 71 per month. And property taxes would go up 5. 5 cents for every dollar of assessed value. That would add between 1. 35. And 8 dollars per month. To your bill. Both options drew mixed reviews from Committee Members and public commenters. So the committee decided to delay a vote until their next meeting. Sparks Police Detectives shot and killed james bowman back in september of 2014 near sutro and ninth streets. He passed away at the hospital and an autopsy revealed he had amphetamines and methamphetamine in his blood.
